The thing about grid was, it was the first good Simcade, the mix between the physics being real enough to make it believable and not being to realistic was sick af. But what really was cool was the presentation of the game, and I don’t know why but I really felt involved in the upcoming race driver story
im replying to an old comment here but whatever. i dont think it was the first good simcade, forza motorsport predates this game and motorsport 2 came out the same year as this which i think is a little better. just my opinion tho

Even for 2019. GRID 1 still amazing. I play on PC. And with all DLC ported mod. Just to drive the McLaren F1 and the TVR Cerbera Speed 12

Drifting in the normal races somehow are more satisfying than the drift gamemode itself. Also yeah it's addicting as fuck especially in multiplayer

Talking about that, a new mobile game called "Racing master" is in progression. And NetEase actually asked CodeMaster to make the game. A few beta tests later, the game feels like an actual mobile version of Grid.

Grid 1 was the absolute goat. I picked it up in like 2011 on my PS3. I didn't even know it qualified as a simcade racer, I just know that I loved how cars drove, loved the sense of speed, and loved how it was not a platform exclusive and had better car sounds than Gran Turismo.
To anyone who's played Grid 1 AND Forza Motorsport 3/4 or Forza Horizon 1-3, how does it compare to those given they all share the "simcade" badge, apparently.

Both Race Driver GRID and GRID 2 only has over 15 locations to race in, compared to GRID Autosport, which has over 22 locations to race in.

So I have Grid 2 for PS3. It seems to have an issue where after a certain point in the game it just freezes every time I load it up. Does anyone know why and can anyone help me? I love Grid 2 and I never actually finished it because of this. 😭

How can you play this?
My only issues with the new GRID are that voice acting is kinda poop compared to Race Driver GRID. It also looks like it doesn't have the gritty vibe or sound track style of Race Driver GRID. I know it's a reboot, but I wish it retained more of the original style -- Other than that, it looks great!

I actually liked GRID 2, but it’s definitely not good as the first one from 2008! And yes, I actually really liked the new GRID! The one is so fun IMO! And again, this ranking purely my opinion!

Not related to GRID, but did anyone experience extreme rubberbanding on Underground 2? In a race, the AI car literally teleports in front of me, and even facing the right direction. And in outruns, they make 180° turns in a instant. Just BS
For me it was Grid 2 that I couldn't stand, I really don't like racing games that like, make drifting essential for cornering. Also it's missing one of the best features a racing game could have, a cockpit view (at least imo). Autosport was a lot more enjoyable for me, but still nowhere near as good as race driver Grid ^^;

Yeah pretty sure both GRID 1&2 were full blown arcade. I still remember how surprised I was when I first played GRID expecting a semi-realistic game only to discover I didn't even have to brake at corners.

TBH i never understood what everyone saw in the first GRID... When i tried the game myself, all the fun that the good driving provided was immediately brought down by the tracks and the insane amount of rubberbanding
Just so we are clear, GRID games are not simcades, they are arcades. Just because a tire locks up when braking, it does not mean it's a simcade.
Grid2 takes a backseat compared to 1. The damage is better, but the overall experience is unbearable for me. Grid 1 is sadly too easy. I have modified it extensively for my personal use, removed rubberbanding and bumped up the AI, revamped the cash system to make it somewhat realistic and then played it in a way that I can only attempt a championship once, no matter how I finish. It was still too easy. But all in all, epic game and the only one that has that racing feeling.
I like GRID 2, when the physics aren't trying to convince me to suicide. But SERIOUSLY WHY YOU SPIN WHEN YOU COLIDE WITH THE CAR IN FRONT OF YOU. Also the ia is HOMICIDE, THEY ACTIVELY TRY TO KILL YOU, IN A "SIM" GAME.
But still fun to race Okutama online indycar with no flashbacks and hard bots

Grid 2 was a good game but not having a cockpit view was incredibly controversial and I wasn’t a fan of that decision.
