If you have a crew on these ships, they love to wander right in front of you when in the middle of a battle. "Do you need any thing?" "Yes. get out of the way so I can see who to shoot!"
It just basically hovers--the wing is just for access, not any support. But yeah, the whole anti-physics games have "advanced" ships do really turns me off.
these ships are good for fast ng+ runs they can get past any trouble just not good enough to create any themselves but doing quick ng+ runs the grav drive is more important than the weapons and avoiding combat is all you really need these things for, I'm finally onto my last ng+ run now got all powers at 9 just need to run through one more time to complete them all so im doing a 'normal' story run and living in this ng+9 world where i'll eventually have all powers at level 10, I'll never get rid of the starborne guardian VI but i'll probably never fly it again, this run ive just begun and im using the Frontier untill i raise a few credits as at least its got a bed and there wont be too much drama in space untill i get past Neon and by then I'll have a c class back in the hanger.
Yeah, that seems to be their purpose. The armor, too. Enough to get you through NG runs without having to hunt down gear, but poor enough that you'll replace it very quickly if you're actually going to play that iteration.
I thought I'd try thus out but no joy. .y ship spawns half buried and won't unlock. There is an area outside Aquilla city that looks like a ship grave yard now. Finally got the ship unlocked.
Sorry had to comment this. Starborn ships are crap. I am pn ng+12 and with the incoming damage it is already dangerous to fly around with it on very easy.
These ships are trash, I get rid of them right away. I got Huygens and get a voyager 3 right out of the gate. Thanks for dropping by Douglas and supporting the channel

Starborn ships are trash, they are designed for 1v1 which is almost never the case
It took me 1-2 hours to try to kill 10 lvl 40 ships, with the 1st star born ship you get…. That shit is not for the weak.
