In this video we look at the best & rarest Ship you'll encounter in Starfield the Trader Highlander III
Requirements:
Few things to note to get this ship.
1. You need a Class C License to pilot this beast.
2. Star Ship Design Rank 4 to add better mods to this ship is desirable but not required.
3. Rank 1 System Targeting Perk required for boarding.
4. This is a ultra random event so its not a for sure thing. May take time and multiple attempts but it may also be level locked.
5. This will not be level locked
6. Praying to a Shrine of the Mk 1 or 2 may increase chances
7. Living Sacrifices are known to increase drop rate ;)
How Can I buy ??? Unfortunately you can't but if thats not the case I'll update here.
Notes & Tips:
1. Pray to the star gods for good ship spawns
2. Spend weeks searching and get nothing
3. Lose all hope
4. Spawn ship using console, derp winner chicken dinner

I bought a Highlander III yesterday from the guy at Akila City. First time seeing it so I saved the game, bought it and gave it a "test drive" out to find some bad guys and it did great. Killed a Prophecy III level 64 with no effort along with a few of his pals. I don't care much for the interior (does it even have a bed? heh....oops I found it.) and the cockpit, and it flies like it's dragging an anchor the size of my Frontier. With such a small cargo hold I will never be able to collect the salvage on the dead ships. I need to lighten my load after I finish building my outposts and then maybe I'll be flying this. I paid around 470K I think with commerce at max. I have all of the big ships that I want for now (cause I'm broke again). I have the Narwhal, Voyager III, Autobahn III, Vista III, Reef III, and now the Highlander III. I'm switching ships so often while trying them all out that I constantly get lost inside my own ship. Embarrassing. Is there another that you recommend besides these? I think my next move will be to build one from scratch, but I am only level 3 designer now. I have found the Dragon Fire II but unless there is a III version, I'm not interested. I'm level 110 now but to me, it seems that the more that you buy the c class ships then the more they are offered to you.
Nice collection of ships! I'd suggest checking out the Storm Rider MK 3 for something a bit different. And don't worry I would always get lost in the base ships as well. Especially when changing them up all the time. The highlanders a great ship but I def thing it need a few modifications to make it handle better and store more contraband ;)
I just saw the Stormrider a day or two ago for the first time but didn't have enough credits to buy it. I found it on my platform at one of my outposts I think. Not sure. I liked the look and the stats so will be watching for my next chance. Wish I could dump my Frontier and Guardian IV to make more room. Have you found a ship called just "Pirate Ship"? I have it and it is class C, has like 5k cargo (7+K with perks), 37 generator and good weapons. I think I got it after killing some bounty hunters on a planet. Not sure, I'm wanted and so I get a lot of company.@@SiNKiLLeR_
First off, I like that your having fun with the game and making these specific kind of video content for the players. It’s more unique content than common with these kind of vids. I also think these videos do much to highlight the uniqueness with many the ships and why they each so different. In paying attention you go into a bit of ship collecting and paying more attention to all the ships that cross your path seeing if it’s any the ships you previously highlighted. I was already hunting and stealing stops planetside a lot. Just because I just started following these vids I’ve been paying more attention to them in space. Today I nabbed a Varuun Revelation II, Claymore II, recaptured Varuun Eulogy III as somehow the one I captured before deleted itself via a bug along with 4 hrs of game saved files. No idea how, so had to recapture the Eulogy III. I don’t want to script hack this Highlander III. I want to find it just playing the game if possible just being vigilant in my travel. I would have liked an interior tour of the ship though.
I really appreciate your legendary comments, means a great deal as so much time goes into getting these ships I haven't really played star field in weeks haha. But i'm 100% not complaining I really enjoy presenting these C grade videos to you and who ever is keen.
I've been getting a few comments of the same terrible bug where ships disappear, something isn't right. I'm wonder if Eulogy was a Quest ship or a ship you normally wouldn't be able to steal? Only thing I know that can possible cause issues. Otherwise its a straight up horrible bug.
I really wanted to find the Highlander III in the wild but I had exhausted the time for searching for it. On the other hand I only got the it on an account I will never use again in hope I will find it some time soon. I have gotten a few comments for interior showing. I might need to consider this.

When you reach level 76 it becomes available at Akila shipyard. But it's very rare. I advise going to Venus. Waiting a few hours and go to Akila. Back and forth. That's how you find it but must make level 76 first
100% correct but I don't think you can buy the trader version which is just a different color so more less you can buy it :)
Stronghold today buy in Akila City, nice ship...Nimitz 2 at Akila City buy, what a ship... :) for fight. The Highlander can buy in Akila, look the same as Stronghold but besser fitting and gold Colors.
Nice one yer the stronghold seems really easy to buy there. Nearly always available.
I like these videos but would like more of a tour around the outside (perhaps exploded view in ship builder) and an interior tour when you do any others please. I have a custom built class C ship on two levels with no ladders and maxed engine, grav, reactor, turrets, 8 crew etc. I am not great at the cosmetics on the exterior but I just can’t imagine using anything else at the moment but always nice to look 👍🏻

@@SiNKiLLeR_ yes, no bs saw it there at level 67 never heard of the ship that's why I grabbed it had to sell 3 other ships but,hey I have never seen it again I have 362 hours of game play on 3 toons on PC one modded to see if I could get it to show up no luck ,but I saw a ship called pirate ship white and orange and another started with a N can't remember the rest like I said this happened on my very first of the game ,there has been several ships I have never seen again. I think once you buy a rare ship that the chances of re-encouter drops tremendously. I have only seen these 2 ships at akila they seem to have more different companies cobbled together. Sorry I don't have rock solid info on spawns it was just blind luck like I said I was just starting,did not hardly now anything about the game like I do now.
I prefer to make my own ships, but these come in handy when creds are needed.

Finally encountered The Trader Highlander Mk III yesterday I’m Lvl 85 still on my first play through haven’t gone to NG+ yet. I was jumping around the Hawking System actually looking for a STORMRIDER Mk III and Bam after jumping from planet to planet for a while taking out Spacers and the like I had came across the encounter with a disabled Merchant Ship a few times but they weren’t worth boarding then there it was The Highlander Mk III and now it’s mine lol Pretty cool Ship nice build Great Rare Encounter to come across

I watched this video a few days ago and I just captured it. I wasn't trying for it, it just happened. I'm level 96 on my first NG+ playing on very hard and I just captured it on zeta Ophiuchi V-A. It's a lvl 50 system just to the lower right of Volii. If I didn't see this video first, I probably would have just left it alone. Thanks for the heads up.

@@SiNKiLLeR_ yes it showed up as level 72 in orbit, so I took a closer look at it and realized it was the mark III. The only thing that wasn't rank 4 were the engines, which I just finished upgrading to 5 SAL's. I also used you lock onto target before engaging and only had a $650 bounty after I killed everyone. I still spent alot doing some modifications and adding more weapons, upgraded the grave drive because I went over weight for the original one.
I'm over 250hrs in. I found a highlander III at level 35 or around there in my first playthrough. It appeared in the Hawking system when I bouncing from planet to planet hunting ships. If i had realized how rare it was I might have not gone on to NG+. SERIOUSLY. I'm level 77 and well into NG+ now with no sightings of this beauty at all. Hoping it shows up for me again 1 day. I miss this baby. I had customized the habs, painted it blue,black,& grey then renamed it Night's Dawn. It was my favorite and most unique ship found in the wild.
I feel your pain. I'm 600 Hours in and I still haven't come across the MK III :( . I really like how you modded yours it sounds epic :)
@SiNKiLLeR_ It was epic my dude. I kept the original design completely. Just switched out habs, upgraded the engines to improve mobility, painted her, and renamed her. It felt like a true battle cruiser starship.
I've built some epic custom C class ships with better Stats but nothing felt like the Highlander did just rolling around and melting anything I encountered. She'll come back to me. I know it. Cheers to you coming across her in the wild yourself!
I came across the stronghold at about level 32, I do believe it randomly appears in the higher level systems. But be warned, when you board be prepared to get an ass kicking. Great ship though, although I'm a little fed up getting lost going to the loo all the time. 😂😂

I bought one from the Akila vendor for like 300k about a week ago. Didnt even realise it was rare. Just grabbed it because the stats seemed ok.

Btw in my original reddit post i said planets but that was a typo because it's actually systems. So, for example you would have to grav jump from Hawking to Archimedes l, if you go from Hawking I to Hawking II, you'll probably never get it to spawn.
Ohh okay cool thank you for clarifying. Its an interesting way to reset the spawns but its still a rare bloody spawn even with your technique. Cool though ill prob make something about it. Thanks again.
@SiNKiLLeR_ if you think this is an interesting technique just wait to you see my next discovery that I just discovered last night. I have a save right now where it always spawns a class c ship and I get to choose between autobahn, voyager and vista and nothing else will spawn. I wasn't trying to get these ships before, but now I am and I've gotten them to spawn multiple times because they are locked into that save. I also just managed to spawn my first reef too. I just need to do some more testing and reloading saves but if I do in fact confirm it then it's gonna be god like.
It sounds awesome but the spawns gods will trick you. It will change on you at some point. But it sounds fascinating still. Let me know how it goes. I can try it and see if its replicatable.

@@SiNKiLLeR_ Its a fun ship I'm not really a auto fire type player, definitely need to upgrade the engines. I like to run around with auto beam, EM weapons and missiles to finish off my enemies. I also like boarding ships, the auto turrets stuff blows up the ship before i can turn them off...lol
I try not to mod to much on the ships part of being a collector, I try to keep it true the design, one exception more engines. Most of the ships I make tend to be too similar so by obtaining made ships it's fun to run around in them force me to use thing I have not used before.

LoL...I just got this ship a few days ago and those bloody front turrets are incredible! I turned it into a cargo hauling ship that can literally smash every enemy out there....can travel across the entire system.....and the shield is solid as well. I removed the HUGE He3 tanks with two smaller ones (in size only, more volume overall) and dropped all the horribad cargo pods it has for 4 of the massive ones....added 2 more Tier 4 engines....got rid of the crappy cockpit (and entire top part it was connected to) and put in a command bridge. Thing looks sweet now and has 4 times the cargo and better performance!

@@SiNKiLLeR_I had one too I was able to bump up the cargo to 8900 at level 19 while keeping all the high level parts and deleted everything else. But I deleted the ship after as i wanted the mobility, but I'll probably get around to doing it again on NG+10. I kept screenshots of that too before i deleted it.
Found mine in Hawking system , minimal crew . No more then 35k bounty. Worth!!

The benefit to seeking a ship like this instead of buying or creating it is for NG+
As you level higher, the Guardian just isn't capable of comfortably handling certain fights.
Yeah the Guardian is actually pretty trash. 1st thing I did in NG+ was ditch it for some random pirate vessel.
Yer I agree the Guardian ships are a bit worthless or at least not enjoyable compared to pirating other ships.
I found it for sale on some planet. Don't recall where. Seen it many times while exploring planets.

Lol I'm that level 19 player that found it. I actually have two of them so they're not that rare (one for boarding and the other for combat). The trick is to save time by quick saving just as the grav drive hits 0 (I usually quick save under 0.25 seconds) to hop to another level 75 system so that you can keep reloading that quick save until it spawns which for me was probably like half a day of reloading that quick save but no more than 1-2 days lol

Good luck your probably gonna be reloading for 1-2 days but at least you'll have it without console commands. but yeah I have two of them as I wanted a second one for combat and set out on a hunt to get it again and I did.
Also you should discuss using a rank 4 stealth build (and chameleon) with a semi-auto beowulf suppressor at minimum otherwise the player is going to find themselves with a 300k bounty like I got when I was getting that UC Chimera. Thankfully the first Highlander had a very low bounty with the second one having 0 bounty
I would be reloading until I retire an old man lol! But its a cool concept and method for trying to generate the condition.
I just found this jumping around Huygens system, I've lost 3 stolen ships and about 7500 cargo and most unique rare weapons in the game, because of the known stolen ship bugs, so I'm apprehensive taking this ship but I've just got to try it 😂
The only thing with this beast is that you might not be able to dock in some places,although you can fit entirely everything in it something like space ark😎
What places can't you dock ?

My issue with the obliterator, you can only mount 3 of them. They're very strong but I have 4 manual front facing, 4 turrets split front and read and 4 turrets rear facing. I could mount them all rear facing but it's asymentric and that drives my OCD crazy lol
Hahaha yer I feel you, if you have it on PC you could mod the game to allow more weapons.
I've been just going from system to system, planet to planet, finishing up surveying all of the planets and ran across this ship in the Zelazny system around Zelazny I. I've also been working on my Pirating skill to get it to rank 4 and pirated this ship initially before I realized what it was. I scanned the ship and saw it had a 40 power level C reactor so I thought I'd better capture it. It wasn't until after I captured it that I saw the color scheme and realized exactly which ship it was. With my level/skills it shows the value is 415,778 with C/40 reactor and 2104 shields. I think this one will have to stay in my permanent collection. This is the first time encountering it after 493 hours in the game and level 229. 🙂

The Venture is a class B right? from memory its one of the better Class B ships.
Yes it is and I just found a freestar Autobahn 111 flying around Huygens IV

I really like my Vista III but I don't know how it compares stat wise, as I couldn't see it on your chart. I put particle beams on it and never lose a fight and I have a cargo capacity of over 5k with skills and companions. I am always looking for new and fun ships however and the Highlander fits the bill. I also have a Narwhal and Voyager III and had an Autobahn III which I didn't care for. I am still looking for the Reef III and Dragon Fire but will add this to my hunting list. thanks
Technically the highlander 3 is better but I prefer the vista 3. Either going to be a great choice :)

if you skill both perks needed for shipbuilding you can build a schip with 40 power and 50 grav jump thrust.

I got this exact ship tonight, not sure where I was. I am lvl 88. Shot it up, boarded, murdered and skedaddled. I changed the weapons but I am thinking that I might go back to a save before I did that, this video tells me I may have made a mistake not going with the original weapons.
If its the mark 3 the weapon are decent for sure but prob not worth going back in your save to change them back.
ok so I'm confused I guess - none of the parts of this are unique to it, everything can be bought from vendors and installed on your ship right? Is it just the ability to maybe obtain these before you're high enough level to unlock them that makes this special somehow? I just don't get the big deal with these (or any, really) ships. Money isn't hard to make, and the parts aren't unique so...
Yer I mean you could build this past lvl 60 for sure but why would you when you can build much better ships. Its just a rare encounter and there's nothing really around about it. And for early game this would be an insane steal if you came across it. But yer I feel ya man.
@@frankie-_-amazon Yea it's a shame, though I suppose due to the randomness of the game it would also be frustrating if there were some spawn on npc ship only parts that existed - some people would doubtlessly just never get those parts due to RNG.
So I'm the level 19 player that found this ship. The reason I found this ship was because i was hunting even better ships than the UC Chimera to upgrade to a better ship and thats when i came across this highlander (which I own 2 btw). Since I was at such a low level I didn't think much of this ship and thought this was just another ship, that is until my UC Chimera was repeatedly getting blown out of the sky on very hard difficulty no matter what I did differently (i didnt know this was a strong hold on steroids either lol).
Once I owned this ship, I realized how strong it really was since the parts required are much higher level and value, plus the required star ship design level 4, that at level 19 it made this ship so OP that im still level 34 and have basically been in god mode for the past 15 levels now lol.
Then later on I decided to redesign the Ship by keeping all the high level parts (reactor, grav drive engines, weapons, etc...) and I deleted all the hull and lower level parts . In the end the new cargo ship I built like i said i would (as a level 19 player) using the high level parts had a cargo space of 8900, 1657 hull, 1315 shield, a crew space of 7, 26 LY jump, mass 3439, mobility 1 and top speed 130. In the end I spent around 100k credits to build the cargo ship before I ultimately deleted it and kept the Highlander as i had it but believe me had I kept that cargo ship it would have gotten way more cargo space as I leveled up and unlocked the higher level cargo parts.
But yes once your high enough level you can just buy the parts. If you do see the ship no matter the level difference you should still steal it because the value in the high level parts is enough of a reason to save time and money by reusing those parts on a new ship or going into god mode at low levels.

Also the Trader Wagon III which has a really cool interior and design.
Also the Freestar caravan II another cool trader ship same system, comes with shielded cargo space, true smuggler ship.

Strange, after clearing all the level 75 systems of any spawning traders, I now cant get any to appear. I am wondering if they are also on timers, do I need to rest for few days etc etc. I would love to know the mechanics for respawns. Like with Grandma, once she spawns , she seems to stay at that location forever. ( until you complete the boarding meal, or kill her )@@SiNKiLLeR_
Lol, I will just buy Stronghold and equip the weapons, case close. Easy :D However, I will not equip the exact same weapon from the default. There are more powerful weapons. Beside the Obliterator. Then upgrade everything else that can be upgraded. Then again, capturing it is more trilling.

I love all this information, but I am FACINATED by the combat video! How are you shooting this? Is this a mod that lets you target a ship and keep it in sight while turning? I would LOVE to do combat like this, but I have only been able to fight from behind my ship or cockpit view. Is this a vanilla setting somewhere?
I wish they would bring in mod to better support this view. Its just using the q button view. Its pretty cool looking but all the controls swap to the opposite movement so can be tricky.

just so you know you can get any ship at your starship pad at your own settlement build landing pad go into the buy ships if the ship you want isnt there delete the pad and rebuild it again and ship choices will change ive got every "rare" ship in the game this way including the C class of this ship.
I tired this method for hours with no luck but I'm sure you can get it there.

I've got one of the trader highlander III's when trying to find the valentine which I believe I have every variant besides the Voyager which is one I want and I'm over level 100
Figured I'd add I do have it modded to where I can have 50 ships not the stupidly limited 10 which right now I'm just hunting top tier and unique ships they could've added a ship collector perk and that would've been good enough for me

Good stuff as always. Got update on my adventures one good one not so great. First I got my hands on a Prophecy 1. Was trying for something great and landed on Serpentis 4d or maybe 5d. One of them. Anyhoo landed and in comes what i thought was a whopper. Turns out it was a Spacer jackrabbit or whatnot. So i took off from the ground and got ambushed by a couple Varuun. Managed to board and grab the Prophecy 1. Not a 3 but cooler than the Eulogy I had. The bad is i am running into bug city. Can't even get around the spaceport in New Atlantis on foot anymore. Get off the dock area and it's open space for 50 feet down surrounding that guard station before you go through the scanners. And there is issues if I switch ships with the wrong ship appearing or no ship at all. Any help or advice there? As always safe travels and hope to see you among the stars.
That sounds like some really bug bugs. What graphics card do you have? I have seen a few other mention issues but nothing yet to resolve them :(. If I hear or find anything ill let you know. Reddit is always a good place to see if people have found a work around.

I have seen this for sale at my landing pad, maybe twice, three times? To be fair, I have over 400 hours in the game with six characters, all above level 100, so rng is on my side for seeing a few rare items. Sadly, I never bought it. I am not sure why since I love looking at new ships, seeing how they can be 'improved' or just trying them out for a bit. I have seen several of the Trader Wagon Trains and sometimes Trader Highlander, so I thought it was the same as the Trader ship, just upgraded. By bad!
Yer wow thats some impressive game time and pro hours. Its so incredibly rare at the outpost landing pad you were lucky to see it still. I spent many hours trying to get it to show. Yer the trader version I dont know you can buy I think you have to find it as the normal Highlander 3 can be purchased.

@@SiNKiLLeR_ I have an unsupported, but highly accurate in my experience, theory that eventually almost all ships can be available at your Outpost, so long as you see them in the wild or at a Ship's Service Tech location. I think this because it amazes me how many times I will capture a ship and then mysteriously, it is now available at my Outpost. This might be a bit of RNG and also a bit of the same mechanic which allows specialty ship parts to become available at your Outpost if you dismantle a ship with them at the Outpost or if you buy those said parts elsewhere during a modification. I think almost all the parts are now available to me except the Crimson Fleet stealth coms and shield. Those seem to be elusive (and my Crimson Fleet toon has been too lazy to craft Ouptosts - maybe I should experiment). I have seen things like the Eulogy III out in the wild, left it or destroyed it (too many hours to know) and then the next time I checked my Outpost Pad, there it was for sale. Odd coincidence or RNG+Game Mechanic? I suspect the latter.
As for the Trader version, I agree. I think those are like the few reward ships, unique and not available for purchase anywhere. If I ever do find a Trader ship for sale, I will let you know. I am about exhausted on the game, though, having completed almost all content. I stuck with it because of shipbuilding and ship farming but I am ready to find a new game or maybe take a vacation at Paradiso to return to hunting another day. I also took all six of my Firefly/Serenity toons to the end of their mission statements (each had different play-styles, actions, objectives, etc.) so that completes my game goals. And, River Tam was the only one to go to NG+(10) because, well, it is River....

I don't know if its the latest patch or a mod, but I have icons of ships/violent encounters on my map. Makes it easier to find ships. It will highlight traders as well.

Only difference I think is the paint job and the name as well as the rarity. Outside that they are the same ship is my understanding.

SiN Answer: Are you on Xbox or PC? It sounds like you need to reallocate your power to your weapons. If your on PC then you need to reallocate power to these weapons. Make sure your in the pilot seat and in orbit. If you hold 'ALT' key and then press 'A' or 'D' or 'Left' or 'Right arrow key, this will let you select the different ship weapons. Look to the bottom left hand side of the screen you should see the current select system highlighted. YOu can use the 'W' or 'S' or Up or down keys to add more power or less. I'll link a website that should help with the power allocation. This should fix your weapon issue.

I don't think I've seen Highlander III yet but I've seen Highlander I/II at the Akila Ship Technician but only at higher levels. I think I may have seen it at Paradiso or Neon but Akila is the only place I'm certain of. I didn't see both tiers in the same save. On one tier I saw him with Highlander I at one point and another Highlander II. Whatever RNG determines the things that show up at ship vendors to me seems to me to produce rather biased results if you look at social media and youtube. Some people will never ever see a given ship at a vendor and then for others the ship not only shows up but is constantly restocked.
Also I didn't even realize those were Trade Authority ships... thought it was like the random Trader NPCs you meet on the road in Skyrim hahaha.
Oh so you can by the Highlander there. I have never luck and I think your right that ships are easy to get for some and much hard for others. Thanks for the great information.
@@SiNKiLLeR_ No problem! To follow up I actually saw the III variant at Akila City Ship Technician in a NG+. Maybe because it refreshes their inventory as I saw him with a Pterosaur III which I've never seen before as well..

I am lvl 89, I can buy all the components you showed with this ship. You need to go to strout eklund and maybe to other vendors. The rest can be build at your bases modify thingy. The storage modules seen on the ship are a waste of space. 😂
Yer for you could absolutely build this but then again nothing can beat what you can build so building this probably not worth it.

@@SiNKiLLeR_ well it's fun to build yourself, I am building a ship with minimal effort. 2x 2x1 hubs, workshop and quarters. 8000 storage out of 4 storage hubs and a big cockpit. Biggest drive and reactor and still 70 mobility. It's way easier to land on serpents v d and steal a great ship and modyfy it. What I like about the game it's so much content and you do what you like when you want 😁
My ship hunting has been wild recently. Every single ship I've hijacked whether it's on the ground or commandeered during a dogfight has been completely empty. Not a soul on board. Like they're ghost ships. Its kind of lame actually. I like the extra xp from offing the crews.

You're apparently referring the The Stronghold, which isn't the beast being described here. The Stronghold is a generic. Nothing special. The Trader Highlander Mk III is the ship SiNKiLLeR is praising here.

It’s not rare as they’re all over. Highland Trader flys it randomly and it’s sold at Akilla ship services. They have so many different names for the same ship.

Got the Highlander3 last night and really enjoying it. Love the piracy aspect of the game. Although I really need to get the sam missions done so he sods off from constantly crying about me murdering crews 😂

You can literally buy it at ship vendors. Seen it so many times come by. It's not unique at all 😂
Those weapons aren't really that powerful, a bigger DMG number means nothing when there is fire rate and power usage (which inversely proportional to the max number of weapons you can stack)
The Vanguard Hellfire Autocannon, yes, a weapon that costs next to nothing and you can unlock and install from lvl 1 if yoy start the Vanguard quest, is the best hull weapon in the game
Yer for sure the Hellfire has 810 Combined HDPS and 225 SDPS with a terrible range of 800. MKE-9A Auto Gauss Gun has HDPS =444.0 & SDPS =132.0 with a range of 1200. Personally I prefer the range over the DPS but that's just me as I fly slow terrible ships. I try to say one of the best and not claiming its theee best.
@@SiNKiLLeR_ I've found that as soon as I have taken down the shields of a ship, I'm already pretty close to it, so I never even realised it had lower range
I think that's the case for nearly every one. I mostly fly freight trains for the cargo. I agree with ya the best weapon isn't always the most expensive or highest tier to unlock. Its pretty cool like that. :)
