  • Hyaluronic gel shots are sometimes used to help with hip arthritis. But does it really heal hip arthritis for the long-term... or is it just a short-term treatment?
These gel shots are infused with hyaluronic acid, a substance that is already present inside the fluid of the hip joint (called synovial fluid).
Viscosupplementation is another name for hyaluronic acid gel shots.
These are thought to add cushion within the hip joint, so at the superficial level it makes sense if you have a bone-on-bone hip arthritis situation. But there is very little research about these injections.
In this video, Dr. David answers the question, "Can hyaluronic gel shots work to help heal hip arthritis?"

Your videos are great not sure why RUclips only shows me all of your older videos makes people think that you do not have any recent videos. The good news however is that once I first started searching for hip pain videos your channel was 1 of the first channels that showed up for me and I created this viewer channel several years ago. FYI.

Heard good things about a combo of PRP and stem cells. But PRP needs to have a super high platelet count and a lot of facilities don’t have the equipment do a platelet count.

I had two series of this injection in my knee. The first was successful at decreased pain and increased mobility.
    The second series failed
This all started from an injury with resultant surgery.
Medicare paid for both series. There was a wait to get it approved and scheduled.
I have been in and out PT and still do the exercises daily plus the glute exercises stressed on this channel.
My pain and immobility has increased. Not sure what to do next😂

They wanted to give this on my knee. But it's very expensive and the result is poor. If lucky a year, mostly not, just a few months. And you need 3 injections. So no, I had a total knee, very painful the first 2 months, but better as time goes by. I hope to have no, or hardly pain anymore, in the oncomming months, since I need a second operation on the right knee, it's nibbling a lot lately and very difficult to do the stairs., but still to early since the left knee operation is not complete painless. Thankyou for your very interesting good explanation. I learn a lot.....

We all have muscle imbalances. Need to find people who can identify them. Standard physio will just put you through a routine treatment. You need someone to actually watch how you move and identify imbalances, asymmetries. And hopefully before you get to the point of a joint replacement. Who provides this level of service?
