Pan Am. Where Is Their Fleet Today? 2023 Update.

What happened to Pan American World Airways's fleet? Through a lot of research, I was able to find several aircraft that once served the World's Most Experienced Airline.

It’s nice that most of these aircraft are being stored, and not being scrapped, even though theres quite a few at Victorville, there’s a chance that they might get bought up
Hopefully a few more get saved, especially the 707 in China.
Hate to be a heart breaker here but if they are P2F conversions and have been run through the cargo circuit their useful life is done. As much as some might want to see them preserved the best chance of that would have been scooping one up after pan am went belly up. What remains of them will be parted out to keep other more serviceable aircraft flying or eventually scrapped. That is the sad reality once an aircraft has lived its useful life and been relegated due to technology and better designs. Pan Am's fleet was already getting pretty old towards its end days. Nobody really wants these aircraft because they are expensive to keep going and there's a lot of regulations now that keep you from operating them into a lot of places due to things like noise.
That was really cool to do those videos of Pan Am airlines it was a good airline treated her employees and passengers very well
Yes it was. We wouldn't have the system that we have today if it wasn't for Pan Am literally carving airports, runways, ATC towers out of swamps to create routes. A true pioneer. I wish more of its history was saved because I think it is every bit as important as the military aircraft and everything out there that does get preserved.

I would love to see some of these guys saved, especially that faded 727 still with its original livery ( 1:56 )and the Chinese 747 ( 3:21 )and 707 ( 4:18 )
I would too. If I had the money I would absolutely push to save them, especially that 707 in China. I wish someone would save the remains of N129TW as well.
I went to work for Pan Am in 1987 an worked for the airline until they closed down in December 4 1991 it was a great airline to work for they were the best I’m sorry the government didn’t help them stay in business after what pan am did for them especially during the war I recently retired from American Airlines after 35 years of flying I will miss it
You probably have some amazing stories working at Pan Am. It is a shame that the government didn't step in and helped, especially with all that the airline did for the country over the years. Such a shame.

A group of Boeing employees painstakingly restored the 307 B to its original condition. On a ferry flight they ran out of fuel and had to ditch it in Puget Sound. I guess the gas gauge wasn't restored, She's a beauty!
I remember that! Thank goodness it wasn't lost when that happened and the crew got out safely. That pretty much ended restoration ferry flights to museums though I think, at least to the Smithsonian. Shoo Shoo Baby is being taken there in pieces.
I don't think they were moving it to a museum but just moving it to another Boeing airport in Seattle. @@NickFliesMedia

I think you missed a few, such as Pan Am's first 747, 'Clipper Juan T Trippe' :-(
It was scrapped unfortunately a couple of years ago. There was an article that came out that said it might have been saved and used as a church but it turned out to be another 747. There are pictures of it scrapped out there. They really should have saved that one.
I wouldn’t be surprised if I did miss a few though. I tried to find as recent of images as possible but sometimes the information on some was pretty thin. I feel like there are a couple more 707s that went to the Air Force and a few more A300s and A310s out there.
I do wish someone would restore that 707 in China. That is a time capsule.
Just a correction. “Clipper Juan T. Trippe” was the second 747 delivered to PanAm, “Clipper Victor” was in fact the first 747 delivered to the airline, sadly, this airplane was the one involved at the Los Rodeos, Tenerife airport disaster in 1977 😔
