This is my Dad on the radios for QF7474. He flew the 747 for over 40 years with Qantas, amassing close to 30,000hrs on the aircraft. He was lucky enough to Command its final sector into the Mojave desert. Still very proud of this flight even after almost 12 months.
Not from Australia, but cried all the video😢 How many different people this plane saw,how much voice's did he hear...this will stay in the plane forever ♾️
You Australians get it. This is how you should say farewell to the queen of the skies! In the Netherlands the last KLM 747 flight was filmed by an amateur with nothing extra whatsoever. Just like a normal flight. This plane is iconic and brought so many people to their destinations safely for so many years. You showed respect and honoured this plane 🙌
On so many occasions, this was the first piece of Australia you saw when you travelled home from overseas. The iconic kangaroo and those 4 big beautiful engines under the wings always meant that you were safe. I have so many amazing memories because of these amazing aircraft. They truely are the queens of the skies. Thank you QANTAS and all the staff for what you have all given us by keeping those beautiful ladies flying for us all and thank you Boeing for making such a beautiful and iconic aircraft that has been a part of so many peoples lives around the world.
I stood at a fence at Eagle Farm Aerodrome, Brisbane, and saw the first Qantas Queen of the Skies parked way out in the field. She was too big and too heavy to bring closer. That image remains with me. I stood at a fence at Mascot Aerodrome, Sydney, on 22 July 2020 and watched the last one leave, and that image also will remain with me. There were hundreds of Queen "lovers" waiting with heavy hearts to bid her farewell. In the midst of the 'plague' we all did the right thing as we watched her pass us at walking pace. Many tears were shed as we waved her goodbye and watched her ultimately rise so gracefully for the last time to an Australian sky. 😢😇✈
Still and will forever be the best looking airplane in the sky.... started my career working on this aircraft... felt emotional even if its a damn machine..
All those times you'd kick and swear at it, but at the end of the day... it's still a good old bird with a good old story. And with a good old beating heart we call it's Spirit of Australia.
the 747 is the most iconic plane in the sky and in my opinion, the most beautiful. Over a year ago, the final 747 was delivered. Only a handful of airlines operate the 747 today and it's sad to see her go. She served us well for the past few decades and she will forever be remembered as the queen of the skies.
This is one of the best farewell flights for iconic B-747, amazing showing the Queen of the skies saying farewell for its last flight. The passengers who ever flew in her, the crews that was involved, the many hours she flew proudly across the skies. That was great reading the first comment about his dad crew on this flight.
Thank you so much. As an ex-QF engineer, the B747 was synonymous with safe, reliable air transport. I saw the world from her windows and then took to the skies as a pilot myself. A truly awesome machine. Gone but not forgotten.
A celebration and a grievance all in one. For me though it’s a sad day. Truly a beautiful bird, painted in beautiful colours. I salute you queen of the skies.
This is such a sad day for Australian aviation. I wish we could turn back the clock and bring these beautiful birds back😪😪😪However all good things must come to an end. Rest in peace Qantas 747!!! You will forever be in our hearts!!!
I remember seeing these majestic Qantas aircrafts in Singapore back in the day when I was growing up. I used to sit there for hours watching the 747s land from all over Australia before heading off to various cities to London, Paris, Frankfurt. The Qantas 747s ignited my passion for aviation. So nostalgic, and very very sad to see the end.
I'll never forget my first nav flight in a 172 transitioning over Avalon when heavy maintenance was still on shore. Passing through the circuit area I saw one of these beauties doing a circuit from about 1000-2000 feet above. Very special memory for me seeing the afternoon sun glinting off the white panels, and the iconic kangaroo on the tail. She is such a gorgeous aircraft, and while I never rode on a Qantas queen I did manage to get on an Air NZ service from AKL-SFO, and that flight was special. Farewell to the most beautiful girl who flew in the Qantas livery.
Oh I never got to fly on a Qantas 747. Like ever! This is just more sadder than ever. Well one thing is for sure, it will forever be remembered as our Queen of the Skies. May her majesty rest peacefully.
End of an era for Qantas 747. It’s very sad to see the Final Qantas 747 leaving the fleet into retirement. When I watched this video, I felt very emotional.
when I worked for Qantas a few years ago, this graceful B747 aircraft generation helped me feed, helped me grow, helped me educate my children on trips to far away places - bon voyage dear memories and thank you ! (a belated goodbye)
Those engines so expertly maintained by Qantas Maintenance crews, sang so beautifully as always but particularly so on her final departure. Shall miss the Queen of the Skies who has taken our whole family safely to and from South Africa on many occasions as well as other destinations in the world. Amazing aircraft.
I have yet to figure out how I can cheer for a job well done and cry at the same time. Beautiful piece of video for a beautiful aircraft well done all.
Had the privilege to fly on one of these beautiful machines back in 2005 LAX-MEL in seat 1A. Growing up, I never thought I would get to fly on a 747, let alone Qantas to Australia and never mind in First Class. Happy memories. So sad to see these great aircraft disappearing from our skies, including BA’s 747s from my home airport of Heathrow. Farewell your Majesty. It was a joy watching you and a greater joy travelling on you. You will be missed.😭
The Old Queen of the Skies has such a style compared to that plump barrel A380. Both are at the end, but the 747 is such a magnificent machine, and it flew so many people for so many decades.........its legacy will remain forever.

What an amazing and emotional video. Well done. Congratulations!!. I've never been in Australia but I remember have seen these Kangaroo Jumbos above my country's sky when I was a child and even before having heard a word about Australia. Those were times of a full Qantas Jumdo fleet. Amazing SPs flying non stop from Buenos Aires to Sidney. I started to read about Australia only after have seeing these birds on the skies. But that was maybe 40 years ago. It's sad to know that an era of aviation, with such close to epicall flights is ending. That's something I'll never forget.

Truly a sad day for aviation. I remember as a kid standing on the roof of our house in Auckland when the first one did a low fly over back in the early 70's. A friend who works in WA has been told that Qantas won't be doing any international flying until at least March 2021. Pilot: Permission to buzz the tower? Tower: Permission granted. Cos that's about as close as it ever will be with a Queen Absolutely loved their departure track on Flightradar.
My Cousin worked on these out of Sydney, sadly he died just a few days before the final departure, his family was there to see it off. The same is happening here with BA also retiring all of their 747s immediately

Our beautiful flying Kangaroo! Very sad I never got to fly on the 747 but hope to fly our national carrier one day on a long haul flight.
Amazing story, it really is sad. Thanks for watching.
My Cousin worked on these out of Sydney, sadly he died just a few days before the final departure, his family was there to see it off. The same is happening here with BA also retiring all of their 747s immediately
So sorry to hear that. Hr would've loved to see it off. My condolences to you and your family.
Really quiet sad...........Damn, I going to miss those things.
I am too. Thanks for watching.
It’s sad to see the queen of the skies go bye bye after serving us for nearly 50 years. 😭 it will never be forgotten.
Truly an unforgettable icon in Australian Aviation. Thanks for watching.
Stunning footage.
Thank you!
