      what a contradictory statement.
      you can see their high speed only if you're not in motion. in this clip both planes are in motion so it's like the opposite plane is standing still much like how we see an aircraft floating while we're driving, also known as parallax.

    Fun fact about runway 22 at Amsterdam, Delta is, as of last week, no longer allowed to land on that runway due to the fact that one of their airbuses landed a few meters short of the concrete on that runway a few months ago. Pilot circled the waterfalls to burn off fuel (he announced it over the intercom, told everyone to look left to save the money for the helicopter ride). On the landing, jungle, jungle, jungle, grass, runway, BAM we were down and very hard braking started. IIRC. the plane stopped as well and when it turned, the wingtip was past the far threshold... I think when we stopped, we had less than 10m of runway left.

    seeing runway 22 used by bigger aircraft traffic is a very rare sight to see. normally only private jets, general aviation and helicopters use that runway, and in all my times passing by or flying to or from Schiphol I've never seen a bigger commercial plane use that runway in my time. in fact, I did a bit of research and a 737 overran that runway back in 2010 cause it was so short. also worth noting that wind was extremely high recently at Amsterdam, when I assume the video was recorded, hence why the A330 probably had such good stopping distance, and why the other runways where closed off.

    1:00 the "hard landing" with a "bounce" was a fast landing with a float. You can't take off with too little airspeed. And you can't land with too much airspeed. The "bounce" was flying the airplane into the ground hoping to stick, and the airplane declined to stay there, due to laws of physics. This is a common learner mistake. Cut throttle, float, then land when speed drops. There was plenty of runway...

    • @rtbrtb_dutchy4183
      @rtbrtb_dutchy4183 Год назад +1

      That was a bounce. Not a float.

    • @marc21256
      @marc21256 Год назад

      @@rtbrtb_dutchy4183 He did a lot of floating after the bounce.
      A bounce generally refers to a hard landing with little to no float after.
      If you are at or below a good landing speed, but with a little too much descent rate, and you don't flare to drop descent rate, you will bounce hard, then go up, and land hard a second time immediately after.
      Are you a commercial pilot? A private pilot (like me)? Or a "I've seen videos, so I'm an expert now"?

    • @rtbrtb_dutchy4183
      @rtbrtb_dutchy4183 Год назад

      @@marc21256 he wasn’t flying too fast. What you are talking about, going too fast and forcing the airplane on the runway, you would see a float initially and the touchdown with the bounce a bit further down the runway.
      This guy seems to be on speed but flared too late and when he did flare, he over corrected. The float you see afterwards is him or her adding power after the bounce to safely try the touchdown again, without running out of energy.
      Oh and to answer your question: 31 years of professional flying with 16000 plus hours from C-150’s to B747 and a bunch of airplanes in between.

    The dual United take off wasn't a coincidence...both captains were former US Navy Blue Angel pilots and the tower controller served at NAS Pensacola before joining the FAA and being sent to SFO. This was just a trip down memory lane for the trio....
    For those of you who didn't catch on...yes that was entirely sarcasm. There's numerous videos of simultaneous take offs and landings at SFO. There's strict separation limits and if I recall correctly it's one of the few airports in the US that it's allowed. I wouldn't be surprised if both crews arranged this on their company frequency for both wow factor and safety as there's no risk for wake turbulence if you're side by side like that. ATC might have even suggested it as well for efficiency.

      At any airport with parallel runways. It's possible though not always intentional. Same thing with landings.

    you need to pause before transitioning clips. "Luckily no-one was injured, this van's rv6 pilot..." - sounds like the same sentence but completely unrelated. Good content though 👌
