All of these are great. It took me a year to get to a healthy weight and make lasting changes, but since then, I've been able to stick with it for 10 years now. I really believe slow and steady wins the race. You don't need weight loss surgery, injections, pills, macro tracking, etc. to be healthy. Trust me. Start with your positive personal motivations, ease into better choices, and you will get there! Thanks for this message Becca!
Slow and steady - couldn't agree more!! It's all about creating small, healthy habits that will actually last. And that takes time! Way to go for finding your own version of this - life changing stuff right there!
Recently I started making sourdough bread from my own sourdough starter. I'm in the learning curve lol...but having success. It's a satisfying experience. A work in progress...healthier food, exercise and more Mindful living.
Love your common sense approach! Progress over perfection is such a good one. It is so disheartening when you may have made a lot of progress and be doing a lot right, and some expert comes and critises you (like a dentist who told me I shouldn't be giving my toddlers milk, in a cup at mealtimes mind you, to avoid decay, which we don''t have, and there is me so proud I am giving exclusively water and milk). My goals at the moment are: as much fruit and veg as possible, and all home cooked. And: no more salami and sausage. Also, trying to always have a healthy snack on hand for kids and myself. As you say: hunger is not conducive to good decisions.
Thank you!! I needed this. I just found your channel. Will subscribe and binge watch. Such honest and real tips. There are no black and white or shortcuts.
Thank you for the information! I feel like the harder I try, the more I fail. I just need to actually hear it and stop “dieting”. I’m working on just eat when hungry, and I don’t need to keep snacking. I’m not actually hungry.
Why do nutritionists use the term “losing weight” no one ever speaks about losing extra body fat and reducing insulin resistance so to improve health. Also a great tip would be to educate yourself about what causes disease in the human body in the new year. Reading a book like Why We Get Sick by Ben Bickman PhD would be invaluable for your viewers.
I just found your channel and hit subscribe before the five minute mark. You affirm my own beliefs, so I plan to stick around! Everything you said rings true for me.
I’ve just started a six week detox ‘diet’ because of chronic inflammation caused by autoimmune issues (I have three). The biggest change is losing the convenience of being able to pop in somewhere to pick up a meal. I’ve got some great places but I have to travel - for example it’s a 25 minute drive to the bakery that makes great gluten free sourdough. And becoming a better cook.
Yeah I need more meal prep videos. My husband used to make all the dinners but he has been busy and asked for my help more for dinner so I need all the easy dinner ideas!!!
You always amaze me with the insight and thoroughness of your videos…such a great teacher! These are all wonderful tips to implement…with slow and steady and the WHY leading the way. What a blessing your channel is…THANK YOU !! Happy New Year 🎊 🎉 to you and your beautiful family !!
I want and need more! Such a wonderful video with truthful content. Please produce more videos like this, I want to make lifelong changes with purposeful meaning!
Great tips Becca! I hear all the time cut out the carbs and sugar, and for me personally those guidelines or similar to that, for me anyway, is setting me up for failure from the start. Will implement some of your tips and hopefully will see some changes soon! Would you be able in a future video to give some tips for people who do not eat red meat? I still eat other meats, but would like suggestions on protein rich items. Thanks again for all your great suggestions!
Long time viewer here, love your channel!! What do you recommend for people with dietary restrictions (gluten, dairy, etc) wanting to eat intuitively? There are so many things we can't have. NGL I dream about eating pizza... but I literally never can again without getting super sick. It sucks!!
I’m dairy, gluten and red meat free. I’ve used store bought gluten free crust and dairy free cheese. Yes, ideally, you can make the crust from scratch(I haven’t tried yet). There are ways to do it. I have found that I can tolerate raw milk cheese too, so maybe try that too.
This is such a good question! The way I look at it is this: a huge part of eating intuitively is eating to feel good & eating for health. It's a constant weighing of what sounds good vs how it will make you feel..so finding ways to eat within the dietary restrictions that is still satisfying & enjoyable would be the goal! For example, making a gluten free crust (you could make a big batch and freeze the rest so it's more doable) and use raw milk cheese as you said!
Love your videos! & all of what you mention I’ve found true for myself and just had no idea how to eat my whole life. I lost 60lbs after having my baby 😅 (gained too much while pregnant) and I was using the noom app to hold me accountable to lose it. That app basically teaches everything you explained here! ❤ it’s weirdly true that under eating doesn’t help you lose weight! I ate more and lost weight! And was stuck on a plateau when I was under eating and exercising!
Great content. I do think you need to train yourself to talk about yourself a little less on this type of video to improve your delivery. A lot of us struggle with that when trying to communicate information

I do think it's important to note, that some people genuinely do need those interventions for health.
Agreed. And if you’re a parent even more important to model and help the future generations not become overweight in the first place.

I’ve always found you so gentle and approachable 😊

I love these tips, I'm definitely going to start trying to make my own breads and dressings and hopefully progress from there. Thanks for the inspo!

Dr. Gabor Mate’s book The Myth of Normal is good but you have to get past the “woke” parts.

That is definitely a tough change! One that is prob way better for your health in the long run tho!
I can relate! I have celiac disease, ulcerative colitis and currently gestational diabetes.

Can’t you get gluten free bases?

At 5:15, it sounds like the same advice as the rest. 😢

Everything turns to sugar anyway….
Nice one Becca 😊😊😅😅😅😅 🎉😂😂❤❤

You’re not going to get fat with weight loss in general? Wow, what a wonderfully motivating statement 🙄
Too much rattling and not specific details
