Lovely video Cherie. My favourite calming fragrances are Scarlet Poppy from Jo Malone, Virgile by Sylvaine Delacourte, Rose Cherie Guerlain, L'Heure Bleu Guerlain. And just recently discovered Heures D'absence from Louis vuitton. 👌 I've always wanted to try Tolu. I've nearly blind bought it so many times but keep stopping myself. It does sound like something i would love
For some reason the Amarige perfume brings me peace. Reminds me of family reunions, aunts, kisses, hugs, nice catering. I had it hidden in my closet because for others it smells "old", but after some years I brought it out I simply love it 😭.
Really enjoyed this and feel the same about so many of these fragrances. Not sure if you’ve tried the Amande version of Prada’s Infusion d’Iris but it’s even more soothing at bedtime. I also love sandalwood and vanilla scents for comfort - layering diptyque eau duelle with tam Dao is one of my favorite combos. I’m feeling more relaxed after just watching this and thinking about it. Thank you for sharing. ♥️
I loved this. I ordered Sandalwood Temple as a decant because of your very vocal and steadfast loyalty to it. The vetiver'n'wood combo almost smells a little benzoiny on me, like a second cousin twice removed of Affinessence's 'Vanille Benzoin'. I look forward to testing it further by wearing it more liberally on my person on a, say, a work day. Your description of how you use the criminally overlooked Shunkoin was almost identical to my relationship to it; a very special, meditative, comforting fragrance rather than ye olde olfactory accessory that I spritz on before stomping out to face the world. Lastly, L'Heure Bleue's marketing image/reputation as a pensive, melancholy very still yet solid fragrance: if I may, I'd like to suggest people experience Oriza L Legrand's 'Relique d'Amour'. By far the saddest thing I've ever smelled. Painfully miserable, agonising loneliness and profound melancholy. Dangerously evocative so perhaps a warning is necessary to all those about to spray it? 😅 Anyhow, your channel is terrific. Hope you have a super week ahead. 😊
I wanted so badly to get to the Oriza L Legrand boutique in Paris recently but I got sick and we didn't get there (I couldnt smell anything) - thank you for this suggestions, I am very keen to seek it out!
@@TheTopNote Also, I wonder if for the Brisbane climate you've tried wearing Columbine by Ciro, Suiren by Parfum Satori (the smell of hot summer skin in Italy or Provence, it's one of my all time favourite summer fragrances of all time) or Pontevecchio W by Nobile 1942? Memoire de Daisen by Ella K or Adameku by Di Ser? It's heating up here in England and I find those really lovely options for hot weather-- nobody in frag com on RUclips ever mentions any of them and I do wonder why. PW somehow makes me interpret it as the airy, summery version of 1899 Moulin Rouge by Histoire de Parfums-- that same airy, iris'n'powder woody feel but with added citrus and more musk. But like your schnoz in Paris, mine too recently stopped functioning after my second tussle with Covid so maybe I'm smelling something that doesn't exist for anybody else, ha! I'd LOVE to know if you can see where I'm coming from. PS= White Suede by Tom Ford is another one that gets ragged on but I spray it ritualistically at airport Duty Free before every flight I go on so it's a happy summer smell also. I'm catching up on your recent videos and really enjoying your uploads. Hope you have a great week ahead.
One of my most favourite comfort scents is Jasmin Antique by Rogue Perfumery. The most stunning and photorealistic jasmine I’ve ever encountered. Jasmine was my late mother’s favourite scent. Our family used to go for an evening walk in our little country town in the Summer in the early/mid 80’s after dinner and mum would always stop with us to inhale the heady jasmine aroma blooming in the gardens. So I bought the beautiful Jasmin Antique to remind me of my dear Mum, whom I miss every day. 🥰 I also love Mitsouko edp, L’Heure Bleue and both Samsara and Shalimar extraits. Love the bokeh from the fairy lights…so pretty. ✨✨✨
Jasmin Antique is gorgeous. My fave from Rogue is Tuberose & Moss. Perhaps I should do an updated video with this topic, there have definitely been some changes!
I loved this, thank you Cherie. When I’m in need of comfort I gravitate towards gourmands with milky notes like Bianco Latte (Giardini di Toscana), Lattedoro (Gabriella Chieffo) or green fragrances like L’Ombre dans l’eau (Diptyque), Pergola (Exaltatum), Arborist (Jorum) this one is woody and reminds me of a silent forest.
A lovely video and unique take on comforting smells. Really enjoyed this one even if you and I are polar opposite when it comes to likes in smells. You know your voice is actually comforting in the background. You sound to me like a soothing massage therapist in a very fancy nice smelling spa.
I'm glad you included quite a few classic and vintage fragrances -- ones that I have in my collection, so I can explore them as comfort scents without buying more. Now if I could just find my bottle of Infusion d'Iris!
Yay! I’m glad this resonated with you, I love the older ones! Good luck with the search, but if you do ultimately have to replace the bottle, I recommend the big one haha
Agreed about some of those edts. Too much punch can be overwhelming at times. And that Lutens always reminds me of the winter holidays. 😊 So yeah, comforting indeed!
Am now further in and hear that you actually mention me in the video too! I feel exactly the same way as you about Infusion d’iris, it’s a perfect bedtime scent, the smell of clean, soft cotton bedding 🙂👌🏻
Field of dreams with Kevin Costner. About a baseball field I think? Now I want to watch the movie again. Nice video, ty! My favorite version of Prada infusions D'iris is oiellet. Lovely powdery carnation. I love it.
Loved this. Can you do one about fragrances to mark new beginnings - new job, new home, new relationship (business, personal, social) - a first impression but that indicates a big change or a new role.
I am in NZ and on my journey to discover new perfumes. Your 'rambling' - funny how you underestimate yourself instantly made me subscribe to your channel. I am originally from Russia, but I also lived in Taiwan for a decade so I find your description of your comfy fragrances resonates with me, although I don't have exactly the same ones in my modest tiny collection. I do have lots of samples from different authentic shops. My favourite houses are surprisingly (or not actually so much for me, as I love Italy) are all Italian so far. I wear Pikovaya Dama by Xerjoff to bed for the same reason it makes me feel comfy and my new love is Psychedelic Love by Initio. I tried at least a dozen of each of those houses or something close to it, and they are my favourites for this particular reason. They make me calm.
Your reaction to sniffing Sandlewood Temple is how I react when I sniff Eau d'Elide by Diptyque which is maybe my no.1 comfort scent. For me there's something about it that is so grounding and familiar, I'm not sure how or why, but I have an almost physical emotional response to this fragrance when I smell it and I absolutely adore it. I'd love a b/u bottle. My other choices are in line with your description of a comfort scent - something powdery, soft, cuddly or smooth and gentle. My 2 favourite bedtime scents are Ombre Rose cologne and Extatic Gold Musk by Pierre Balmain but I also like Mon Guerlain, Lavandes Trianon and Vanderbilt for bed too. Other comfort scents for me include Musc Eternel by Mizensir...one of the very few for which I have a b/u bottle...vintage Diorella which I find like a calming hand on my shoulder, and also Chant d'Aromes by Guerlain which is also smooth and gentle and calming. And one that I wear (not often) when I just want to feel cosy rather than calmed is Jovan's Secret Amber. It's quite smooth and sweetly ambery but fairly uncomplicated. I enjoyed listening to your explanations about your chosen list. 😊 And btw I agree with Vol de Nuit too...I don't grab it for comfort per se, but it is one that is quiet and is almost a little meditative and it's very beautiful, particularly the vintage.
@@TheTopNote After watching and commenting on your vid yesterday I decided I needed a squirt of both Diorella and Chant d'Aromes so I had some on each hand (I often wear multiple scents at once bc I can't decide lol). They are quite similar in many ways, with Chant d'Aromes being a tad soapier on my skin (something I don't usually go for). I have to say the vintage Diorella is a top notch classy fragrance, such an understated beauty but they're both lovely. Perhaps Santa will get you the Guerlain for Christmas? 🤩
Woke up and first thing I saw today. What a great way to start the day. Thank you Cherie. Loved your description of our Lost Wonderer but even more loved that smile with glint in your eyes. Really happy to hear you’re enjoying it so much. ((Hugs)) ♥️
Thanks a million for such a nice theme today, this is a real treat! Today wearing Portrayal woman and feeling special. Wishing you a lovely week-end! ♥
I loved this video! I've been toying with getting a bottle of the Prada Infusion d'Iris for a while now. But I love the sound of Vol du Nuit and as a cat lover also want to test Bengale Rouge. My comforting scent is Aromatherapy Associates' Deep Relax which I spray on my pillow before sleeping.
Hello lovely Cherie. Thank you for gathering this thoughtful list. It is perfect for this time in the world, and this time of year. Mostly thank you for your Shunkoin review. I’ve thought of purchasing it many times as my best and most beloved fragrance is Cuir Beluga, and it is sometimes linked to it. 😊
I have never seen a video with so many perfumes I have never smelled and I own over 400 perfumes. I appreciate your vast knowledge and eclectic taste in niche perfumes. I do wish you would say something if the scent you are speaking about would be appropriate for men as well.
Oh my goodness! I was just casually watching, opened your description box then saw my name! Thank you so much for the kind mention Cherie, that’s made my day 🙏🏻😊
You described this so well Cherie, there are many ways to be comforted or situations that comfort you. I think one main reason for me to wear perfume is to feel good aka comforted. So you could say all my scents give me some kind of comfort. But if I should mention one, maybe Gozo from Jeroboam. A very unusual perfume to me, it opens a bit artificial, like a hard sweet candy with powdered sugar and the wrapping is still there, and you smell it all. But a very good artificial I must say. Then it dries down,it gets a bit dusty and soapy. I get tuberose, patchouli and I guess a lot of other notes, but it is very good blended. It also has a vintage feel, a bit like Madly from MariaLux. To me, this is comforting, sensual but also a bit intellectual perfume. Hmm, very bizarre description 😅😅😅 but I love it.
Thank you for this review of your comfort fragrences I love ❤️ tabbacco fragrences in the winter months 🍂 my favourite tabbacco fragrence smell is Scandinavian pipe tabbacco 💋👌
Great list Cherie, so many fragrances I haven't seen mentioned before. My latest love is Muschio Oro by Santa Maria Novella. It's a vintage musky scent that's comforting and sensual. Funny enough, not that they smell the same but it gave me the same feeling as Poeme By Lancome, a familiar warm embrace type of scent.

Amarige from Givenchy 🙂 , I think it's not sold anymore but I have my half bottle. I use it even to help myself sleep 😬

Laura Mercier Ambre Vanille (body cream) paired with SDV or Kayali Vanilla 28! I love comforting scents so they make up the majority of my wardrobe
Oh Ormonde Jayne so beautiful. I bought Ormonde Women because of you. Thank you for recommendations.
