I appreciate this guy being polite and correct saying they are things we “might not know about” instead of using the off-putting But trendy “Why you’re doing X wrong!” Anyone else tired of being told you’re doing something wrong by a talking head on RUclips (or some blogger) who doesn’t know what you’re actually doing? Kudos to this guy for treating viewers with respect instead of talking down to us.
Glad you made the point at the end that GB is Logic. I find GB to suit all my needs as an artist. Logic just over-complicates the process for me. Keep it up!!!
That would be great if you want to show us in depth, how to use the AUMultibandcompressor for working on a vocal or guitar track for example, it’s seems a powerful tool ! Thanks Lewin !
I find that there's just not a lot of sounds in the GB library. There's a fairly decent bunch of synth sounds and not much else. I like to play with different genres and would like decent acoustic instrument sounds , i.e., violin/fiddle, banjo, acoustic 12 and 6 six string, better electric bass sounds and pipe organ. What are the good ones to check out/ Free or pay.
Just when I think I've fathomed GB, Lewin demonstrates an entire, new realm of functionality. How anyone dis' this powerful, free DAW is beyond me... Garageband and Beyond me! Thanks, Lewin.
Ha! I have long since moved to Logic (totally worth it), but I had forgotten I have some of these you shared, and I certainly didn’t know about them back in my good old GarageBand days. Thanks for the upload! Tori
I've been using the AU multi compressor and the AU limiter for over a year now. I was just about ready to ask why you never mentioned them before that I'd seen? Also your suggested plugin mvMeter2 was a great one. Always had a hard time controlling my baritone guitar so it wouldn't overpower little speakers. so helpful to have visual meters! It also simplified mixing 5 instrument tracks and one caller track at a contra dance. Thanks! I've learned lots from your videos. Ye Old Fart
Thank you!!! Great video! But i do have a question. The number of slots that we are given to use these plugins are limited. If i want to use more plugins, how do i add another slot?
If you put the mouse cursor betweek the plugins you will see a small white line appear. When you see that line, click on it and you will be able to add another plugin. I believe you can run up to 16 at a time.
Is volume automation enacted before or after the plugin chain? I want to know if there's any point in automating since I want to use it to help the compressor not work as hard.
Go to preferences in GarageBand and then go to the audio/midi section. You will see a section for effects and click enable audio units. Once you do that go to plugins in your mixer and you should see the Apple Audio Units. No third party plugins are required.
AUMatrixReverb is the #1 plugin of choice for every doe-eyed aspiring songwriter and noobish producer who's wet behind the ears and looking for something to add to a track that'll _completely_ *FUBAR* his audio signal so that it makes babies cry and household pets flee in a sudden panic. MatrixVerb is a sure fire way to shitcan your mix with a quickness... _if_ you don't know *exactly* what all that crap does, and exactly why you're pushing that particular slider this way or that. My advice for anyone who _didn't_ go to pro-audio school is this: take the blue pill and forget you ever even heard of the MatrixReverb. Keep enjoying your steaks in blissful ignorance, my friend. Mmm... delicious steak...
SineEyed 2020, I’m not sure whether I agree or not, but that doesn’t matter. I’m attracted to the shiny gold here, which is your delivery. Good stuff, my friend.
Wow! I just found these yesterday and wondered if you had ever covered them. Boom! Thanks, Lewin.

Nah we’ve been using it wrong this whole time I can’t lie

I’ve seen those plugins before just never knew what they were. Thanks Lewis.

You are my mentor when it comes to garageband 😊?? Have you tried the tascam portastudio 4 track plugin yet?? Cool stuff:) Thank you sooo much buddy
Very useful. I'd never tried those weird AU options. Great video.

Amazing. Thank you so much for this channel. It's helped my producing skills so much.
How do you get the extra plugins like preamps. I've seen you use neve and ssl channel strips. Where can I find them please. Thanks.
They are all from the Slate digital package
I also enjoy the AU Peak Limiter
Cool! Thanks Lewin.
HELP!!! how do you even find and get to the first step of " audio units"? I do not see how to get to that step. Thanks
Thank you. This is very helpful. Do you have full coverage of the list or can you recommend a source for full coverage?
Full coverage of what?
@@GaragebandandBeyond the list of AU effects that you showed in GarageBand and more examples of how to use them.
Thank you Lewin.
Had no idea. Thanks so much
Owao
This is brilliant
Great Video

the apple plugins dont even pop up for me
I think you have to have some third party plugins installed for utilities to show up

cheers
Usually I don’t like videos being long because they never get to the point. But this is a long video of nothing but getting to the point lol

This must not be in iOS.
