Ubisoft has just fooled all pc gamers. I became a fan of this game only because of breathtaking visuals and realism they showed in E3 2012. Ubisoft reduced the graphics of this game to such an extent that it doesnt look like a next gen game anymore. One reason i think is the arrival of new 'junksoles'..!!
Look guys the reason why people are mad about this isn't just the graphics. The game we are shown here is very different than the one we got. We were shown this and got something very different. Let me give you an example. It's like going to a convenient store and asking for a Caramilk chocolate bar. You wanted a chocolate bar with some caramel in it. So you buy the Caramilk but then you open it up and you get a kit kat. Sure the kitkat is a good chocolate bar, but I wanted a fucking Caramilk! It's the same thing with watch dogs. We wanted an open world game with some interesting hacks that can affect the city and hacks that NPC's react to realistically(the car crash), a very intriguing story with good character developemnt, good driving, an art style that has thick atmosphere, and innovative multiplayer. We all wanted this based off what we were shown here. Instead What we got was Press X for hacks that looses it's vanity very quickly, a mediocre to catch a predator story line, wonky driving, a really poor artstyle that looks worse than what we were shown, we got an interesting multiplayer but nothing like what they teased, and a open world setup that is exactly like assassins creed and Far Cry 3, not only that but the level we are shown here doesn't even exist in the game. On top of all of that the performance on PC was really bad and people are having all sorts of glitches and problems. This is why people are upset and hating on the game. It's because of crushing disappointment and not getting what you wanted based on a pretty false advertisement.
DEM PHYSICS. I remember being so blown away by this in 2012. that breeze of cold air shooting out from an ally, pushing out into the street and making Aiden's trenchcoat flap around.
This game has great details. You can even. see the light reflect of the white paint in the street. All the characters move so smooth, flawless and realistic. This is the best looking game I've seen thus far.

Even on PC the game will look nothing like this. To me this looks like concept footage, a vision of what they wanted the final version to look like. If this was playable, they would have shown a playable build in 2012. Everything we see here is canned. The AI won't respond like that to car crashes, the explosions won't be that dynamic, the atmosphere in the game won't be this good (wind carrying objects, dynamic tree sways etc). 100% bull shit trailer like the Killzone 2 CG

Although I don't think the AI will be that good what we see in this trailer. There seems to be 2 slightly different versions of this demo I've found on RUclips. This one is a little more drawn out with the added multiplayer tease at the end.. I find it interesting. Also Ubi should do a watch dogs remake and make it more like this. PS5 and modern PC hardware could run the game at those settings just fine.

Honestly, I blame the idiots that fell for this, more than I blame Ubisoft. This clip of the guy playing just SCREAMS "scripted events". Yeah sure, he'd just happen to walk out of the place, right as it starts raining, a dramatic train passing overhead, and a guy in the distance yelling to set the atmosphere. Sure. Ok people. I know the graphics itself were downgraded. But people fell for all the scripted bullshit too. Sure, that stuff may or may not happen in the final game. But it's still scripted. Just made to look like it's random. Same thing they do with Assassin's Creed when they show it off. I remember the uproar about Assassin's Creed 3. They showed off a guy playing the game perfectly. Every step was pre-planned, every NPC movement scripted just for this bit of gameplay. The guy ran up a tree, perfectly timed with a guard passing by. Sprinted along a thing to catch up to another guard. And then people bitched because the final game wasn't close to that. People do it all the damn time. They script out really short specific sections of a game, usually with modified graphics to look nicer, to make the game as appealing as possible. Then when the game actually comes out, they have to downgrade things to work for consoles, they can't take into consideration a player's actions, so it doesn't play out exactly like it did in the original. People just need to use their brains. Don't pre-order things. Don't buy things without looking at videos of the final game first.
TXF 4 months late but I'd like to throw this out there. The issue I have is the lack of effort... So look, you're saying most of these things are scripted and it should've been obvious, but that's a moot point because scripted or not these things could've played out in the real version of the game. They could've set a monitor so that once your conversation with Jordi ends the weather instantly changes to rain and you wouldn't know any better seeing as you're inside a building. Add a volume at the exit that when walked through, spawns a dramatic train pass. Hacking the traffic lights? The cars will just spawn relative to camera placement, whichever way you're not looking! Scripted events aren't bad, especially when they're convincing like this. They do a great job of building atmosphere and setting tone. So you know making all these things happen is possible in the game right? The issue is the lack of effort. Now... Who does the blame fall on?

It's not about that alone. Earlier builds were ahead of the entire game generation, if that E3 2012 build was realeased it could have been a freaking crysis in a cap. Even now i still haven't been seeing any open world game with real time reflections on cars with such high fidelity, not even mentioning rich water simulation, even more interiors, much more advenced wind and coat physics, dynamic reactions for NPC in various stress situations, more high-res textures, rich ambient occlusion and even reflective phone in Aiden's hand!

This version looks good. But the recent footage I've seen though looks no better than Splinter Cell:Blacklist. Oh well, Ubisoft has pulled the bait and switch before, so shame on us for falling for it again I suppose.

But that is still far off in the future

After playing this on both consoles... I don't really see anything different from this to the finished console. Graphics don't make a game good the story and playability does. This game played fine and had a fairly decent story. I don't know what you people wanted but based on this reveal trailer they gave you everything you could have expected.
Alec Mcdonald believe it or not, the price is about the same. Owning a console has a very similar TCO compared to a PC, except the cost with a Console is back-loaded while a PC is front-loaded. As far as patience goes, you waited many years for hardware that was already outdated by the time it was released. With that said, console gamers are holding back the development of next gen gaming.

I have a gaming PC which I bought for €700 and built myself . I also have a ps4. I never play on my PC and my ps4 is probably more powerful for a lower cost . I have a gtx 660 8gb ram and a Intel i5 overclocked to 4.1ghz.
So, what happened to separate multiplayer avatars like Bixxel_44 and their "group objectives"? Coulda been groundbreaking Ubi, but you went quite on the multiplayer front for a while, and then when it reappeared good ol' Bixxel_44 was nowhere to be found. E3 isn't just for showing off a new game in a state of developmental flux - it's advertising a product to journalists and gamers, and when content is ripped out of it (eg. this demo shows what was the best mission in the game, which we never got to play, as well as graphic options such as Bokeh DOF) it can be considered as false advertising. I love this game. It has such an incredible atmosphere. It is a hell of a hard job to make walking along a sidewalk gripping. Unfortunately, much of what was promised at E3 no longer exists in the final product. Dramatic moments like a man pleading for his wife to respond who's just been shot during a "Rescue Trapped Civilian in Car" event have been removed from the game. Hell, if you look you can see here Aiden Pearce looks more like an everyman gumshoe uncle, but in the final game he's a chisle-jawed killer. This 2012 iteration had much more finesse and lot more of an identity of what it was and what it was going to be, especially in regards to the type of tale it was going to tell and the type of world it was going to portray. Still love it though.
I just look at it, and all I can think is. "You bastards" Why couldn't they just make it on PC first, then downgrade a little for PS4/Xbox One, then Downgrade it even more for PS3/360? or better yet, don't bother with the old consoles, and just focus on making the best damn version of the game you possibly can make. I mean, there it is, looking fan-fuckin'-tastic on the PS4, why the fuck doesn't it look like in the trailer, because you had to downgrade it for inferior hardware? MrSwaper619 lets say that 10 is the absolute max, graphics wise. they had to lower it because the consoles couldn't handel the graphics, but when they lowered it from 10 to 6, they actually lowered it on pc too, when some pc's can handle those graphics.

One problem I had with Ubisoft games was voice acting. AC 3 & 4, and far cry 3 had below par quality when characters spoke. Looks like watch dogs and the divison plan to fix that. Brings joy to my soul. Thanks uni for correcting yourselves.
The last character is another player playing the game. Watch Dog is a next Gen Game(PS 4, Xbox one), and most of the next gen games has no boundaries regarding single and multi player. You can play your game, and someone(maybe your friend) can join the game anytime and can help you if you want to. I too am not sure about this whole thing as I too am just a random gamer. now that i went back and compared it, the detail is better than the final product. then i notice the lightning of this version has a darker tone and has a real feel to it and the people are more interactive . But i feel that Rockstar in a couple of years will break the mold of Graphics with GTA 6 but thats another story for another day sorry . Sorry if i went off topic for a little bit there.

I agree, but they didn't downgrade it THAT much. It is still a gorgeous game. The version seen here has insanely good lighting and rain effects. I'd say the finished product isn't that much worse, it just lost some of the polish and details. I do think that Watch_Dogs 2 will probably look like the demos for this game considering graphics have improved noticeably in the past few years.

What hurt even more than the downgrade was after painstakingly scanning briefcases across the map, the actual mission where i got to kill DeMarco turned out to be just another convoy mission. Least they could have done was kept this mission.

I think the reason the final game doesn't look like this is because the consoles were originally going to be much more powerful, they kept scaling them back all the time.

First of all, the entire story was changed. Second, they completely remade Aiden's personal look, his face looks much better at E3 than how they changed it to full version. Also, the mission they previewed isn't even in the final product. I loved the game, but I just think if they stuck to what they promised us, it would've turned out much better.

His comment isn't invalid. Naughty Dog and Ubisoft are both great companies. One produces great games from consoles, the other produces great games, period. It just happens Ubisoft has a weird way of unoptimising its games for PC most of the time.

Look guys the reason why people are mad about this isn't just the graphics. The game we are shown here is very different than the one we got. We were shown this and got something very different.
Let me give you an example. It's like going to a convenient store and asking for a Caramilk chocolate bar. You wanted a chocolate bar with some caramel in it. So you buy the Caramilk but then you open it up and you get a kit kat. Sure the kitkat is a good chocolate bar, but I wanted a fucking Caramilk!
It's the same thing with watch dogs. We wanted an open world game with some interesting hacks that can affect the city and hacks that NPC's react to realistically(the car crash), a very intriguing story with good character developemnt, good driving, an art style that has thick atmosphere, and innovative multiplayer. We all wanted this based off what we were shown here.
Instead What we got was Press X for hacks that looses it's vanity very quickly, a mediocre to catch a predator story line, wonky driving, a really poor artstyle that looks worse than what we were shown, we got an interesting multiplayer but nothing like what they teased, and a open world setup that is exactly like assassins creed and Far Cry 3, not only that but the level we are shown here doesn't even exist in the game. On top of all of that the performance on PC was really bad and people are having all sorts of glitches and problems.
This is why people are upset and hating on the game. It's because of crushing disappointment and not getting what you wanted based on a pretty false advertisement.

DEM PHYSICS. I remember being so blown away by this in 2012. that breeze of cold air shooting out from an ally, pushing out into the street and making Aiden's trenchcoat flap around.
This game has great details. You can even. see the light reflect of the white paint in the street. All the characters move so smooth, flawless and realistic. This is the best looking game I've seen thus far.

Honestly, as a Rockstar fan, I have a love hate relationship for all their games, although I hate GTA V more than I love it. RDD is one of my favorite games, but it's shitty in a lot of ways and RDR 2 was a big disappointment for me.
Even on PC the game will look nothing like this. To me this looks like concept footage, a vision of what they wanted the final version to look like. If this was playable, they would have shown a playable build in 2012. Everything we see here is canned. The AI won't respond like that to car crashes, the explosions won't be that dynamic, the atmosphere in the game won't be this good (wind carrying objects, dynamic tree sways etc). 100% bull shit trailer like the Killzone 2 CG

There seems to be 2 slightly different versions of this demo I've found on RUclips. This one is a little more drawn out with the added multiplayer tease at the end.. I find it interesting. Also Ubi should do a watch dogs remake and make it more like this. PS5 and modern PC hardware could run the game at those settings just fine.

Honestly, I blame the idiots that fell for this, more than I blame Ubisoft. This clip of the guy playing just SCREAMS "scripted events". Yeah sure, he'd just happen to walk out of the place, right as it starts raining, a dramatic train passing overhead, and a guy in the distance yelling to set the atmosphere. Sure. Ok people.
I know the graphics itself were downgraded. But people fell for all the scripted bullshit too. Sure, that stuff may or may not happen in the final game. But it's still scripted. Just made to look like it's random.
Same thing they do with Assassin's Creed when they show it off. I remember the uproar about Assassin's Creed 3. They showed off a guy playing the game perfectly. Every step was pre-planned, every NPC movement scripted just for this bit of gameplay. The guy ran up a tree, perfectly timed with a guard passing by. Sprinted along a thing to catch up to another guard. And then people bitched because the final game wasn't close to that. People do it all the damn time. They script out really short specific sections of a game, usually with modified graphics to look nicer, to make the game as appealing as possible. Then when the game actually comes out, they have to downgrade things to work for consoles, they can't take into consideration a player's actions, so it doesn't play out exactly like it did in the original.
People just need to use their brains. Don't pre-order things. Don't buy things without looking at videos of the final game first.

TXF 4 months late but I'd like to throw this out there.
The issue I have is the lack of effort... So look, you're saying most of these things are scripted and it should've been obvious, but that's a moot point because scripted or not these things could've played out in the real version of the game. They could've set a monitor so that once your conversation with Jordi ends the weather instantly changes to rain and you wouldn't know any better seeing as you're inside a building. Add a volume at the exit that when walked through, spawns a dramatic train pass. Hacking the traffic lights? The cars will just spawn relative to camera placement, whichever way you're not looking! Scripted events aren't bad, especially when they're convincing like this. They do a great job of building atmosphere and setting tone.
So you know making all these things happen is possible in the game right? The issue is the lack of effort.
Now... Who does the blame fall on?

It's not about that alone. Earlier builds were ahead of the entire game generation, if that E3 2012 build was realeased it could have been a freaking crysis in a cap. Even now i still haven't been seeing any open world game with real time reflections on cars with such high fidelity, not even mentioning rich water simulation, even more interiors, much more advenced wind and coat physics, dynamic reactions for NPC in various stress situations, more high-res textures, rich ambient occlusion and even reflective phone in Aiden's hand!
I don't think Ubisoft can delivery this even today. 7 years later.

They make everything repetitive, story makes no sense, milions of collectables, unlocking map with towers... The only Ubisoft game that looks interesting to me right now is Division. But that is still far off in the future
This was running on a 680 meaning even if it was getting 30fps a 780 would be at 45-50fps and an 880 would be hitting 60+. Let alone a titan z.

After playing this on both consoles... I don't really see anything different from this to the finished console. Graphics don't make a game good the story and playability does. This game played fine and had a fairly decent story. I don't know what you people wanted but based on this reveal trailer they gave you everything you could have expected.

Alec Mcdonald believe it or not, the price is about the same. Owning a console has a very similar TCO compared to a PC, except the cost with a Console is back-loaded while a PC is front-loaded. As far as patience goes, you waited many years for hardware that was already outdated by the time it was released. With that said, console gamers are holding back the development of next gen gaming.

So, what happened to separate multiplayer avatars like Bixxel_44 and their "group objectives"? Coulda been groundbreaking Ubi, but you went quite on the multiplayer front for a while, and then when it reappeared good ol' Bixxel_44 was nowhere to be found. E3 isn't just for showing off a new game in a state of developmental flux - it's advertising a product to journalists and gamers, and when content is ripped out of it (eg. this demo shows what was the best mission in the game, which we never got to play, as well as graphic options such as Bokeh DOF) it can be considered as false advertising.
I love this game. It has such an incredible atmosphere. It is a hell of a hard job to make walking along a sidewalk gripping. Unfortunately, much of what was promised at E3 no longer exists in the final product. Dramatic moments like a man pleading for his wife to respond who's just been shot during a "Rescue Trapped Civilian in Car" event have been removed from the game. Hell, if you look you can see here Aiden Pearce looks more like an everyman gumshoe uncle, but in the final game he's a chisle-jawed killer.
This 2012 iteration had much more finesse and lot more of an identity of what it was and what it was going to be, especially in regards to the type of tale it was going to tell and the type of world it was going to portray.
Still love it though.

I just look at it, and all I can think is. "You bastards" Why couldn't they just make it on PC first, then downgrade a little for PS4/Xbox One, then Downgrade it even more for PS3/360? or better yet, don't bother with the old consoles, and just focus on making the best damn version of the game you possibly can make. I mean, there it is, looking fan-fuckin'-tastic on the PS4, why the fuck doesn't it look like in the trailer, because you had to downgrade it for inferior hardware? Try again please Ubisoft, this still has gigantic Potential, Especially if you're planning on making a sequel, I remember the First Assassins Creed being disappointing to many, but the 2nd one blew everyone's minds. Hope they can replicate that with a 2nd Watch Dogs.

One problem I had with Ubisoft games was voice acting. AC 3 & 4, and far cry 3 had below par quality when characters spoke. Looks like watch dogs and the divison plan to fix that. Brings joy to my soul. Thanks uni for correcting yourselves.

The last character is another player playing the game. Watch Dog is a next Gen Game(PS 4, Xbox one), and most of the next gen games has no boundaries regarding single and multi player. You can play your game, and someone(maybe your friend) can join the game anytime and can help you if you want to. I too am not sure about this whole thing as I too am just a random gamer. now that i went back and compared it, the detail is better than the final product. then i notice the lightning of this version has a darker tone and has a real feel to it and the people are more interactive . I agree, but they didn't downgrade it THAT much. It is still a gorgeous game. The version seen here has insanely good lighting and rain effects. I'd say the finished product isn't that much worse, it just lost some of the polish and details. I do think that Watch_Dogs 2 will probably look like the demos for this game considering graphics have improved noticeably in the past few years.

What hurt even more than the downgrade was after painstakingly scanning briefcases across the map, the actual mission where i got to kill DeMarco turned out to be just another convoy mission. Least they could have done was kept this mission.

Not exactly true...Yes there are E3 Files leftover but the graphics are not in the game anymore...some remnants here and there from 2013 but that's about it..Idk who claimed the E3 Graphic files are still in the game because they really aren't

I think the reason the final game doesn't look like this is because the consoles were originally going to be much more powerful, they kept scaling them back all the time.
there will definatly be a watch dogs 2, cause ubisoft said they wouldn't make a game unless they could make it into a series.

This demo was more dramatic and eye - catching than the entire finished game.
First of all, the entire story was changed. Second, they completely remade Aiden's personal look, his face looks much better at E3 than how they changed it to full version. Also, the mission they previewed isn't even in the final product. I loved the game, but I just think if they stuck to what they promised us, it would've turned out much better.
i think why ubisoft e3 demos always get downgraded is because they run on top on the line hardware that normal consoles cant handle
Watching this after having a PS5, this should be the PS5 and Xbox Series version. It could be like this with the new tech but even 10x better

Actually if you are still begging for this dream game download ps4 relauch package 1.4.0 mod. It's visuals are as close to the original demo as possible. Also it contains files from living city mods, which adds tons of interesting side missions and scenarios for the open world gameplay, soon it will even get version 2.0 with even new gameplay features:

His comment isn't invalid. Naughty Dog and Ubisoft are both great companies. One produces great games from consoles, the other produces great games, period. It just happens Ubisoft has a weird way of unoptimising its games for PC most of the time.
