Pokemon Platinum, Dragon Quest IX, The Legendary Starfy, and Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin to name a few.
Great suggestions!
Partial reason why I have no respect for BDSP
@@thatvideogamesshowthanks man! Great video!
Magical Starsign, Avalon Code, Glory of Heracles, Soma Bringer
I actually believe portrait of ruin is better than the Aria games except for portraits quest system. The levels were more varied and the combat was a lot more fun with both characters useable especially since the girls magic had a lot of souls type abilities anyways
I know its a minor detail, but i love that you have the game title in the corner. Was watching another channel and his accent made things hard rk understand AND he didnt have the game titles. So, thank you
No worries! =)
1000% agree! I wish everyone did this
Solatorobo not being here is CRIMINAL (But the Lunar Knight's recognition kindof makes up for it ❤)
Clown it's his list. The only thing criminal is you bozos that expect these guys put "your choices" as theirs. Clown
LK is my favourite DS game ever!
Solatorobo released on switch
Yeah he should include every single game that matches the video's topic and make it an hour or two long.
@@viridionwaveswhat? no it didn't. I wish
My only issue with Golden Sun: Dark Dawn was the *_MASSIVE_* cliffhanger of an ending which has yet to be (and likely will never be) resolved.
100%
Looking bad, Golden Sun was kind of overrated. They were novel for their time, especially in splitting the series up, but here it was like bad sequel-fanfic-itis where the dialogue felt kind of insulting to the player's intelligence.
@@charlescaulkins8306 maybe the ds one but the gba ones were a treat especially for its time.
yeah the game was fun while it lack the impact of the original games, it still have the core mechanics ans gameplay that made golden sun so fun, the story is clearly incomplete and this game was building up to the next part, too bad it didny sell well enought and the cliffhanger was the killer in my opinion, what a waste of good potential, i want my sequel.
@@charlescaulkins8306the original golden sun was splitted because the game was too big for a gba game and it was originally going to be a gamecube game, it was reshaped for gba and divided in two entries that will be released very close to one to another.
All the DS Castlevania's are worth playing and they all play differently.
The GBA ones too. We were eating very well that gen, especially if you count the PSP re-release of Symphony/Rondo
Yep, these games got 98% of my attention on my DS Lite original.
DQ9 was the first game I played that had full party customization in it, and since then, I've loved playing other games like it.
I'm collecting ds games right now, maybe hundreds. I found Scribblenauts, it's blow my mind. Very creative. I never gotten into puzzle games before, now i'm interested.
I'm glad there are good games "stuck" on specific platforms, that makes it worthy going back to those consoles/handhelds and finding something new and/or interesting to play, I've been picking up games from your lists, currently playing Magical Starsign and lovin' it.
Magical Starsign is so good! Glad you're enjoying it =)
Hotel Dusk room 215 is soo good. I beat it last month. Highly recommend if you like unique visual novels/ detective games.
No no one likes that, that's why you're the only one that liked your comment 🤡
Also Last Window on DS is the sequel.
The Aliens Infestation sprite animations are amazing
I've been binge-watching your content lately! Thanks for everything you do
Glad you enjoy it!
Sands of Destruction! Nice RPG with a solid cast, some off the beaten path mechanics that work well, a damn good story and nice presentation. Only negatives I can think off are that some dungeons are really complicated and might be impossible without a guide for some and the early game being harder than a lot of RPGs. Nevertheless one of the highest quality to obscurity ratios I know of when it comes to video games. :D
So many great gems stuck on the DS, I'm happy that I've managed to hold onto a lot of the titles mentioned here along with so so many others.
Great video. I'm interested in playing Monster Tale, and Dragon Ball Origins. Can't wait for part 2
Your channel is a great way to start the day!
Thanks for the tip Easy! Glad you enjoy the channel 🙂
Your videos are always a pleasure!
Thank you Jay!
Always great videos from u bro ❤
Glad you like them!
Thanks for the suggestions😊❤
No problem 😊
Lunar Knights looks sick! I should definitely try it.
Definitely worth playing man!
Monster Tale was a peculiar one. I don't even think retro metroidvanias made a comeback yet
Really? There's like hundreds release every year now! Every Nintendo Direct has at least several.
@@laladoopsy Probably. All I know is that anything 32-bit max was sort of mandated up to handhelds. It would only be like a generation later where it would just blow up into consoles too, because indie developers just flew in droves
Super curious about pt.2!
Nice collection, please add the second screen next time. Thanks
The Blue Dragon games also deserve a mention.
I hope ther's a boktai/lunar knights collection someday, with some gameplay mechanic to replace the sunlight integration.
That would be so good!
I will always mention Avalon Code and Magical Starsign when anyone mentions the DS. There are quite a few great games for the DS, it's got such a massive library of games people never got to play lol
Had to scroll too far down to find someone mentioning Avalon Code. I'll forever rep that game
Nice you’re back in action we all enjoy when you make videos more often
Thanks mate 🙂
Omg launch on the thumbnail
Right?!
What???????
Nds!!😭😭😭❤
Such an awesome handheld!
Monster tale is amazing. I have the cartridge and finished it last week.
Monster Tale was a good game made by Dream Rift, but their magnum opus was Henry Hatsworth for the DS.
Love me some Henry Hatsworth, such a solid platformer.
@@thatvideogamesshow very solid platformer! Has the precision of a ninja garden / ghouls n ghosts but with a facade that makes people assume it's a puzzle game.
...and it's more British than your accent!
@@warehousedave7937ah yes, definitely has the precision of a ninja garden, cause it definitely doesn't have the precision of *ninja gaiden
@@ramrodbldm9876 ha funny phone autocorrect 😆
Going with the none big names, cause obviously it's a shame to miss platinum and dragon quest. Phantasy Star Zero, Sands of Destruction, magical star sign, digimon world dawn and dusk.
Seconding Sands of Destruction!
Some more great hidden gems:
Boing! Docomodake
Freshly Picked - Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland
Legendary Starfy, The
Lost in Blue
Orcs & Elves
Picross
Monster Racers is pretty good too. It's like Pokemon but its racing. Also pretty sure its stuck on the DS
Dragon ball origins looks really nice! Never heard of it before
I've been quite interested in Dragon Quest XI because of the character creation. I imagine it'll be quite expensive now. I was more of a Soul Silver guy over Heart Gold but the sentiment is the same! I got myself a copy on day one but I haven't finished it yet. Been trying to rebuild my team from the original because my save got deleted years ago. Dragon Ball Origins I never had as a kid but I recently got it and its sequel for my DB game collection. My buddy helped me get this first one as a birthday gift.
Here to remind peeps about the absolutely incredible Transformers games for the DS.
The 2007 movie game is legit one of the most impressive games on the system, with 4 open world areas, a GTA style mission structure and wanted level, fully voiced in-game cutscenes, and a story starring your customizable character, who is also playable in the multiplayer!!
In Lunar Nights, you could put one of the Boktai games into the GBA slot on the DS or DS lite and use it as a solar sensor. It also unlocks tracks on the in-game music player. Using the Boktai game as a solar sensor really drained the system battery though
Didn't know this!, Thats an awesome feature!
Tao's Adventure Curse Of The Demon Seal is a game I thoroughly enjoyed on the DS
Not many people can appreciate sims cast aways playspeed transitions
Man I voted for a GBA video, but this was great
No one cares what you voted for. Obviously more ppl wanted ds. So watch it and scram
Huh, if I had to say, Dawn of Sorrow is by far the easiest of the 3 DS Castlevanias. If this video's comment on difficulty makes curious players second guess if they'd enjoy it, I believe anyone can play and beat the game. I had troubles on one boss as a kid because I didn't read the dialogue explaining how he copies your soul powers used on him (Dmitri) and if you fight him without using that to your advantage, he starts out with a really strong power that can stunlock you for tons of damage.
Dawn of Sorrow's difficulty can be easily mitigated by just tanking all damage and using potions from the menu since you can buy them infinitely for cheap, and there's very few other items or weapons worth purchasing because you can make the same stuff or better through the weapon fusion mechanic.
I'd argue the first boss in Portrait of Ruin exceeds the difficulty of most bosses in all of Dawn of Sorrow. And then Order of Ecclesia pretty much only has super tough bosses and buying heals to tank damage is out of the equation without absurd grinding because they made healing items really expensive. It's the closest to the Classicvania style of boss fights where you kinda have to learn their moves to win. I absolutely adore the entire trilogy for different reasons though. The Soul System in Aria/Dawn of Sorrow is one of the greatest mechanics of all time imo.
Very cultured on putting that girl on the thumbnail. Even her creator forgot about her existence.
I loved The Rub Rabbits! Weird but fun game. Pokemon has always been epic too.
Have you played Pokémon on Switch?
Lost Magic is the one for me. I got my wish already that Lock's Quest got ported to PS4 and PC!
Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure and Elite Beat Agents as well.
Brain Age, Rhythm Heaven, and Pokemon Conquest would have been tops on my list.
Great suggestions!
I never knew i had Monster Tale on my DS it was on one of those DS cartridges with 100ds of games on 1 Cart from Ali express….Nice 🙏🏽
Hope you enjoy it when you get round to playing it!
Nora and the Time Studio - The Witch of the Mist Forest is an interesting rpg publish by Atlas, you play as a necromancer and also the game have mechanic like festival in some months just like rune factory i thought it was unique and fun try it maybe you will liked it.
Never heard of that one, I'll have to check it out!
@@thatvideogamesshow I was finding an unknown ds rpg to play and saw this in translation site I thought this was pretty fun since no one ever talk about it cause it also a Japanese only game.
Order of Ecclesia > Dawn of Sorrow, imo. It was literally the prototype for Bloodstained.
Rub Rabbits is the sequel to Feel the Magic, which released just after the US launch of the DS, but yeah, clearly inspired by Warioware.
Aliens: Infestation is sooo good. Crazy hardcore mechanics like perma-death. Gorgeous game all around.
Metal Max 2 and 3 bro
Yay, more DS please. Thank you!
More to come!
Dragons quests 4 to 6 for those remakes never got a PS4 PS5 Switch port/remaster BUT I COULD see that happening if the upcoming 2D HD remakes of DQ 3 and the 2D HD one for the first 2 DO sell well enough.
I miss these vibrant pixel art games. I miss developers making truly genuine and adventurous gameplay
Lets hope Final Fantasy: Explorers will be in part 2 :D
Lunar Knight is new for me, have to solve this problem as soon as i arrive home, just need my micro sd card and my laptop, Alien Infestation is a true masterpiece, is in my sd card since day one, Monster Tale is pure fun, need to go back to this one cause never managed to beat it 😅
Hope you enjoy Lunar Knights!
Finally! Someone talks about Dragon Ball Origins 2!!
Monster tale is so underrated
I'll second that!
DS was such a great handheld. Thank you!
Couldn't agree more!
Dragon quest IX is my all time favorite dragon quest, and its the only game that would make buy a switch or switch 2.
My biggest problem with Dawn of Sorrow has imo is having to draw symbols on the touch screen to seal the bosses once they are weak enough. Because if you mess up then you have to re-weaken the boss to that same state and you aren't given a lot of time to seal them off. I'm so glad there are hacks of the game that has omitted that. Other than that it's another amazing entry in the Castlevania series.
I can see that. I played it with a hack that skipped that part and it was great
I can't believe I've never heard of 'Aliens: Infestation.' As a fan of the franchise I'd love to see it ported onto the Switch - any game where you get to ride in a 'power loader' gets my vote!
A Switch version would be so good!
The Rib Rabbits looks like a game I would love.
It's a lot of fun!
I used to want to play mario & luigi partners in time, but I don't have DS, now I'm ready to wait for mario & luigi brothership for my switch.
Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver will forever be my favorite games in the series.
Suikoden tierkreis is one of the best Nintendo DS rpg game. I really hope konami revival this series.
The irony they made a sequel to the Mario rpg game on the ds line....but didn't port the other one that I know of
I really want DQ9 to make it off the DS, mostly so I can play it online again with people 😂. That was peak gaming. I was in college i would walk around town with my DS and come home with 50+ street passes. And sometimes play it at a coffee shop and people would ask what you are playing and play multiplayer with you. Not just DQ but whatever was the big new release the past few months. Nintendo brought people together… I really really hope the era of handhelds is not over.. Switch is cool and all but I want a handheld with battery that can fit in your pocket like GBA-3DS… I’m sad that it may be over
Ds will forever be the magmum opus of handhelds with its gba and dsi library to add to boot
Such a timeless handheld!
Intro Music
👍🏾
Dawn of sorrow only difficulty was the touch screen requirements. Lucky there is a mod to ditch that. Personally i would love to see them modernize Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks like links awakening...new actual Zelda game will be awesome
From the Abyss is like a simple diablo like game that stuck in NDS forever.
Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out!
Perfect for my modded 3ds
Dark dawn is rough 😬
Covenant of the Plume should have been in here.
Not your list.
@@AlastorShadow0Cry about it. :)
Fossil Fighters!!!!
Great series!
Boi, when you were on about HG/SS you were SPITTIN. Gold and Silver are the absolute best sequels in the history of the world, and HG/SS are the best remakes we will ever know.
I think the Gold/Silver remakes could've been better. Still the best Pokémon remakes.
Pokémon Conquest
As charming and unique Monster Tale is, it is an also an extremely tedious game with progress boiling down to running back and forth across huge areas because most times you unlock access to a new area it's usually on the other side of the map. Almost like it's designed by someone who read what defines a Metroidvania without actually understanding what makes them fun. So I'd much rather see a new take on the same concept instead of a port of a very flawed game to modern systems.
You forgot The Dark Spire and Knights in the Nightmare.
Will check them out for part 2!
I liked that cute girl with the pixie cut hair in your thumbnail.
Oh heck yes
I've played pokemon heart gold and partners in time.
Contra 4 and Infinate Space
Wasnt partners of time remade/rereleased on 3ds?
Nope, they skipped it and went straight to Bowser's Inside Story.
I see Launch I click
shame, I thought you'd open the list with Contra 4, still stuck there to this day and easily one of the best Contra games of all time
I’m starting to be hopeful that Nintendo won’t exclusively get dragon quest games before everyone else and Sony won’t exclusively get final fantasy games before anyone else now that square enix is going the multiplatform route because in reality Sega and Xbox should be the standard as far as making sure their titles can not only be played in multiple ways but also be preserved for yrs to come
I love the DS but its a pain to emulate, If the game uses the stylus, forget it. or if your emulator console only has one screen and no touch screen features. I have to ask if they had that in mind when designing the DS
That DS can probably be seen from space.
I'm so glad that I have a 3DS xl
Such a great handheld, especially modded!
@@thatvideogamesshow it really is
This dude said The Rub Rabbits lol…
Buttercup look'n thumbnail.
Avalon Code and Solatorobo
I have almost all these games physically but i dont recommend that now a days because these games are too expensive. i suggest emulation.
Origins 1 and 2 are great games!
Some of the best to come out of the franchise!
@@thatvideogamesshow Indeed! And I agree that we don't have near enough games based on the original series. As a filthy GT fan we don't have enough games based on that either.
Aria of Sorrow on GBA easily bettered Symphony of the Night and hasn't been bettered for me when it comes to the non-linear Vania games. Dawn was stil great though and the following two games on DS were very good. Aliens: Infestation has sadly been forgotten, even the shitty Colonial Marines that came out around the samem time still gets talked about. WayForwards DS games were really good, even their Thor game. There's been talk about a Monster Tale re-release since the 3DS but alas we have nothing.
I'd like to shout out the excellent Kirby Mass Attack, Dementium: The Ward, Henry Hatsworth, Okamiden and I did enjoy the Brothers in Arms game though I've not played that since it released.
Dementium is on switch actually
@@PunchKickBlog Yes. I know. It's remake was also on PC sometime before. Neither version FEELS the same as the DS one. It's like porting Half Life to the Unreal 4 engine, it's just missing that certain something the original had,
What music did you use in this video?
Which track are you looking for?
@@thatvideogamesshow All of them. 🙂
Whats the game in thumbnail?
So no chibi robo? 🥺
Aren't the DS Castlevania games on the Switch?
