He was also never a Shaolin monk, no Chinese wanted anything to do with Bruce Lee once he set foot in American soil, teaching Blacks and Latinos their martial arts, also because Bruce Lee had a quarter German in him, wong Jack man was Chinese and taught the bullshido version of Kung fu, and also didn't like how he was teaching Americans martial arts, Bruce and his quote-un-quote "fight" lasted for only a few seconds with Bruce screaming in Mandarin "do you give!?"
This fight does perfectly demonstrate in theory why wing chun isn't good, because it is a sub style of the Shaolin, only for phone booth close quarter fighting, how an actual fight go between a fully trained northern Shaolin monk who knows how to use kung fu effectively and a guy who trains solely wing chun, would look similar to a boxer banging up a regular guy, because kung fu used effectively wouldn't use any of those flowery movements unless it's a grappling context, kung fu used effectively is straight punches and straight kicks

Bruce Lee was being arrogant and he have a very big ego and he was trying to fight Wong cause he wants to be better than him. But Wong's intention was not that. He wants to teach bruce lee to be better and break his limits to push him to be better. They say the more you fight someone the more you understand a person that's why in the end. He finally realize and showed respect.

      It’s a movie.
In reality any and all martial artists that Bruce Lee crossed paths with, from the black belts who attended his classes to the tournament champions, were invited to spar with him. And all who accepted his invitation came away bewildered by the experience:
      • Jhoon Rhee, a tenth Dan in Tae Kwon Do, found that before he could even initiate a technique, Bruce was all over him: "You know what used to frustrate me? Bruce told me to attack him and before I could do anything, that son of a gun was right on me. I've been practicing martial arts for years and he stopped me right in my tracks every time."
      • Larry Hartsell, a former student of Ed Parker's Kenpo Karate who joined Bruce's school, recalled that, "I sparred him once. The minute we began I knew something was wrong. He just moved on me. He was beside me, or behind me, before I could even adjust. He'd tap my head to let me know he could score. He just tore down my ego.
I remember thinking, “Well, there goes six years of Kenpo right out the window”
      • Ken Knudson, a fifth Dan in Karate, and a man who defeated the American Karate legends Bill "Superfoot" Wallace and Joe Lewis in competition, reported that "the power from Bruce's kicks and punches is bursting. He demonstrated a sidekick on me that moved me so fast that I felt as though my eyeballs were still where I was standing when he kicked me."
      • Leo Fong, a Golden Gloves boxer and black belt in Karate, put it succinctly: "I sparred with him and, man, it was like I was nothing”
      • Wally Jay, a black belt in Jiu-jitsu, agreed: "I saw him spar James Lee, but he was too good. Too good for me too”
From Wrath of the Dragon by John Little page 129

Yeah and according to the witnesses who saw the fight the only thing that happened was Bruce Punching Wong only once in the nose, only for Wong to try and run from Bruce for 3 minutes straight and eventually getting pinned to the ground & Bruce threatening Wong with his fist asking "Do you give up?" In Cantonese, and Wong of course surrendering. The actual fight was very different and nothing close to a draw.

Fron the Wikipedia page of the fight and the Words of the unbiased guy that arranged the fight (David Chin):
However, a significantly different account was provided by David Chin, who had arranged the match on Wong's behalf. According to Chin's interview with Matthew Polly,
Lee overwhelmed Wong with his opening series of attacks as Wong was approaching for the customary salute, causing Wong to turn his back and run. Chin stated that Lee chased Wong around the room until Wong tripped and fell, after which Lee jumped on top of Wong and rained down punches, forcing Chin to intervene and rescue Wong.
That was the whole fight, afterwards Wong said later in his life that the fight was just a result of them being insulted by each other as the Wong was pissed that Bruce was teaching white people and Bruce saying openly that he, at the time, could beat any martial artist in San Francisco
So this again is Chinese Media trying to tell us that people that teach westerners or take fighting influence from western styles are apparently bad at fightin
    Stay focused everyone

The entire film was built around this fight, but it was probably the weakest one. According to Philip Ng (the actor for Bruce Lee) he tried to consult on the choreography and direction of this scene, saying that "this is how we would do it in Hong Kong" but the director refused to listen. The restaurant beat-down at the end (which Ng was allowed to consult on) has way more dynamic energy and feels a lot less stilted or awkward.

Many discrepancies with BL account. One, his wife wrote that the fight only lasted 3 to 5 minutes, why did Lee tell Black Belt magazine he was so winded after the fight? was BL so out of shape in his 20's that he could not fight 3-5 minutes straight? I think 20 minutes was more realistic. After he fight, BL changes his whole fighting style. If he won why did he have to make so many drastic changes? Third, BL tells the whole world openly that he won the fight breaching his agreement with Wong to keep it secret. Then Wong publishes an open challenge in a newspaper and Lee never responds. If Lee could easily beat him, then why he did not respond and agree to a public match?

Any and all martial artists that Bruce Lee crossed paths with, from the black belts who attended his classes to the tournament champions, were invited to spar with him.
I think people like you should stop trying to push disinformation and a false narrative.

@@yassinghanim1689 he was actually already trained in martial arts before he came to the states. He was even trained by ip-man. He got in a lot of streetfights. His mom forced him to take dancing lessons to keep him of the streets and out of trouble. He challenged other martial artists on the sets of his movies all the time. He's the founder of jeet kun do, a fighting style that incorporates other forms like grappling and boxing into it, basically laying groundwork for mma. This fight with Jack man really took place although it went very differently. You can look all of this up. The guy could fight.

@@ed8018 this supposed “fight” in reality, was never a fight. It’s been inflated into something it never was. Wong ran away and Bruce chased him, Wong tripped, Bruce got on top of him and said did he give up, he said yes, both in Cantonese. There were a few witness, including Bruce’s wife, and Peter Chin, the guy who actually organised the fight and was one of Wong’s men. Peter himself later said Bruce was decisively.
A far more interring fight is against a guy called Yoichi Nakachi, a Japanese black belt in judo and karate. Bruce fractured his skull in 11 seconds in 1960 when he was 19 years old. This was about 4 years before this apparent “fight”. This happened in Seattle before he moved to California. Jesse Glover, his first private student, Ed Hart, his second student ( I think) and a few others saw it.
If you actually want to learn about Bruce Lee and not all the fake stuff you read on here and see in videos pick up the book, Wrath of the Dragon: the real fights of Bruce Lee by John Little.
