    Enjoyed the video Ben. Was impressed how good you've been skating a wide deck. Cant imagine scooping up a wider board switch with indies on, and niether can my groin. Larger nosed boards really helped me up my confidence, so i liked the overall shape of the "real" deck. Great review and thankyou for the bolt to tail spec. Im comfortable on thunders now and plan my purchases accordingly. Ps: nice wheels 🔥

    For the last 3 years or so I've been skating 8.75 and 8.8 decks. I'm tempted to drop down to a 8.62 or 8.5 just to be able to do double heels and some other flip tricks. I have 2 decks I still need to skate but after that it might be worth a try going back down, I would also want to get smaller trucks though and that would be a bummer since mine are still in good condition.

    Great video as usual Ben!!! No bulls**t and no ads. I think ads you can skip in the beginning of a vid is fine but I can’t stand when there’s like 4 or more total. It’s so annoying. It totally breaks up the flow.
    I’m a 43 yr old who recently started sk8ing again after a decade long hiatus.
    I’m stepping up to a 8.38 AW/Dino Jr. deck after riding mostly 7.75/8”s from the late 80’s on. I picked up a set of Thunder ⚡️149’s and Spitfire F4 54mm 101a radials.
    I wanted something a little wider to feel more stable sk8ing transition now that there’s so many nice parks in and around the Philadelphia, PA area.
    I respect ✊ how u give totally honest reviews and I was wondering if you have any plans on doing a review of a Alien 👽 Workshop deck in the future?
    My aunt Phyllis is also from Vancouver, BC. I’ve never been out that way to visit though. Only up to Newfoundland where my mom was from.
    I just recently saw that due to a change in law in 🇨🇦 that if one of your parents was a Canadian citizen and you were born before ‘79 that you can apply for dual citizenship. Have you heard anything about this?
    Keep up the good work and sk8 on!!! 🤙

    • @bendegros
      @bendegros  6 лет назад

      Hi Chris:) I almost bought an AW deck yesterday but went for a smaller brand(Theories). I will be trying one soon I think. I don't know anything about citizenship. I've never had a reason to look it up.
      As far as ads go, I don't really see the point. I hate video's full of ads as well. I will probably never get enough views to make it worth while so why waste peoples time when I could just work one hour and make better money. This is for the love of it.

    3-6 weeks is a short time for my skating. Granted I’m just getting back into skating and I can grind or gap stairs or anything but I’ve had a Superior board for 2 seasons ( has pretty bad razor tail) & i can’t remember if the pop isn’t as crisp. I can still Ollie like 2 ft off the ground. But is the pop more of a feel? Or does it affect the height of the Ollie? Anyway I’m looking into a new deck and bearing finally so that’s why I’m here. Thanks for the info

    Great review! Have you ever tried mini logo decks? Also have you tried a deck with a symmetric tail and nose?

    • @bendegros
      @bendegros  6 лет назад

      I haven't tried Minilogo in over 20 years. I would expect moderate to low quality out of them. They are a price point board.
      I have not tried a symmetrical board yet. I am so used to big nose/small tail I don't think I would like it. If you started out on a symmetrical board I think it would be fine. There are benefits to having two different kicks that I wouldn't want to give up. You can have two different feeling pops on the same deck which makes it more versatile IMO.

    Does anyone else think that the Logo on Real skateboards is going the wrong direction on the deck. It's something that I just noticed and now I can't stop thinking about it. If you look at the Real logo in front of you and read the word Real from left to right you will be reading from the nose of the deck to the tail. I feel like when you read the Real logo from left to right you should be reading from tail to nose.

    Are there even actually bad boards anymore? Like when Zoo York started, it was a public secret its riders would skate on other companies' decks because their sponsors' were so bad, though they got it together later on. Even shop boards are often pressed at the same factory as more familiar brands, so it seems like you'd have to go out your way to get a really shitty deck

    Now that you have skated a number of decks from Generator, did you notice much difference with Real's R1 construction vs the other decks? I've skated a handful of Real decks and been happy, but just found out that my local shop decks are pressed by Generator. I can't imagine that a $50 Real would make sense over a $30 shop deck pressed in the same factory. Thoughts?

      Real shapes are pretty fantastic. Also, Generator is the distributor. BBS is the woodshop so having a board distributed by Generator does not necessarily mean it is made in the same shop or to the same standards( at least this is all the hear-say on Slap). That being said, I would say go for the shop deck if you like the shape. You never know, it could be the same wood or different but still good.

    Anyone can help me out? I’ve been skating Girl/chocolates for probably more than half of my skate life (14 years). I’m hooked on thunders and just recently switch to spitfires from bones. (I do not regret), but I still have no found a board that I do not feel too comfortable. I’ve tried primitive, blind, almost, and currently on a baker deck(mellow OG shape). The primitive felt good but it was quite a long board. Almost and blind felt short and small nose and tail, the baker feels okay but I have some trouble getting all my tricks, might be too mellow. Do you think I should go full DLX and get a Real board? Or should I go back to girl/chocolates(my last one warped so I was pretty disappointed cause it was basically brand new)?

    Indys really are the best looking trucks I think. Very classic style. And of course they’re tanks. I’ve switched from indys to Krux tho for more tech skating but Indys are my first love.

    have you ever had a deck where the sides are way too sanded down and if you step on the board barefoot the edges actually hurts your feet? like they sand the top of the edge down too much where its like a circle edge rather than more of a oval. i find that makes my feet hurt a lot more after a session.

    • @bendegros
      @bendegros  6 лет назад +1

      Yes. My first review. Northern Co. It had squarish sides. I forgot to mention it in the review. It felt weird but didn't bother me.

    • @mushlove6933

      Ben Degros i have an old ATM deck that has rounded sides, along with the type of concave that both make your feet hurt. I like more squared off edges because its more flat and more room too.

    • @Vaulthunt3r
      @Vaulthunt3r 4 года назад

      Shiz its all preferences honestly. I am 5’4 and like a 8.25 but currently skating a 8.0. And also enjoy a 8.5 so it’s really what your feet like. Or experiment and try like a 8.0 and if it’s too narrow feeling maybe step up at small increments of say 1/4 of a inch

    • @Vaulthunt3r
      @Vaulthunt3r 4 года назад

      Shiz if you’re looking for a more narrow board however, a 8.0 is a very common size and is a perfect “middle ground” so to speak. Hope that helps

    Can you check out blankdecks.com? I know I should support local shops, but for some of us we have nothing near. In my case local shop closed down before I even started skating. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the multiple Zumiez and Vans stores put them out of business.

    • @bendegros
      @bendegros  6 лет назад +1

      If you want performance I would stick to well known brands with good reputations. Nothing good usually comes that cheap. It can be tempting but it sucks to be stuck with a bunch of crappy decks. I have no info to base that on other than just my gut. Look for the sales at zumiez. They are always trying to clear out old inventory.
