    Dude.... Ballsy. And big thanks... As a guy who didn't grow up turning wrenches, your videos have been super helpful with my attempts at restoring my 67 Bronco.

    Keep up the vids. I have a 73 bronco with a 302 and like many, I didn’t grow up turning wrenches. My high school never had shop, woodworking, or anything that would have ACTUALLY helped me in life (half kidding). I’m a nurse, parent of two young boys, and an attempt at being a weekend warrior. These videos have been very helpful. Now just gotta work extra 💰💰 for the parts!

      Haha! Exactly! 3 kids here. My advice would be: do one upgrade at a time. If you do too many things at once, you won’t ever get everything back together. Seriously. Keep it simple

    Dont forget to replace the valve springs, and break in the cam according to edelbrocks specifications. make sure you use edelbrocks break in oil too. you dont want a flatten a lobe and end up with metal shavings through your engine!

    Sweet, this would really help me(and you have been) I don't have a Bronco, but I do have a 65' Mustang with a 302 in it. Needless to say I have been following and learning from your expertise.

    Just a tip for future reference when you pull or install a cam use the bolts holding the timing sprocket on screw them in a little bit and then you'll have them for the leverage instead of the screw driver smart idea though! And great build!

    I'm jealous of how clean your intake manifold is...I do all this work cleaning my engine bay and it's already filthy again!😤😅But I guess that's the price to pay for fun😏

  • @DS-mo6md
    @DS-mo6md 5 лет назад

    I see that they sell this as a kit and... I'm sure it's fine but. I feel like whenever people do this with their valvetrain it's 50% of the job. So the lobes get matched to new lifters sure.. but now you have new lobes pushing old springs and rockers and pushrods plus a new lifter piston. Even worse? Camshaft bearings. Engines should always be built from bearings to long block with that build in mind. That cam is just hot enough to where I would want a high performance camshaft bearing. I'm sure stock spec springs are okay.. though it's better to upgrade for mild springs because your valves themselves will be more efficient at their job.. but its not that they are stock spring pressure so much as worn. Not like you can strip it to the block but... Every time I see people showing the simplicity of swapping an OHV camshaft I think about the bearings now as a start.

    You gotta put on some aftermarket aluminum heads after all that work, more power less weight!

    Just a heads up, when you throw it all back together, you HAVE to use eldebrocks can break in oil, we learned this the hard way on my 79 400, drive it for a couple hours with the break in oil and change it with valvoline vr1 and An entire Bottle of Lucas motor oil additive. It’s not fun having to do things twice

      I would drain the oil, and keep it, buy the six quarts of break in oil, brake it in, then change it back to the original oil you took out and then add a entire bottle of lucas

    • @NashvilleEarlyBronco

    Hello, I know this is an old video but I know you’re still around since I watch all your videos (a$$ kissing out of the way) I’m in the process of replacing my timing chain and would really be interested in replacing my cam and rollers. The cam you used, how did it work with the fitech and other than the rollers is there anything else you had to replaced to make the cam work? Thank you for your help.

    How much harder would it have been to pull the whole motor out? Total noob here. I eventually would like to do the same to my 302 but I’m going to be replacing/upgrading multiple engine parts etc.

    • @NashvilleEarlyBronco
      @NashvilleEarlyBronco  6 лет назад +1

      It wouldn’t be too much harder to pull the whole engine out, but honestly it’s not necessary unless you are working on the transfer case or transmission. You can get to everything in that huge Bronco engine bay

      Haha im about to go through the same struggle on a 390FE motor. I will say somome said to get an electric fan but id stick with the pully drive fan. Simple and effective and should work great with a shroud. We fight issues with electric fans all the time at work. Excited to see it all go back together!
