    Bass jigs are something I've never caught any bass on yet. I have a few small strike king 1/4 ones to try though. I have caught plenty of bass on smaller jigs for crappies and sunfish though. I'm gonna have to get some trailers for the jigs and chatter baits I have. Was nice to see you mention BFS stuff as an option. I can throw weightless t-rigged TRD with my BFS stuff. It would make a nice light topwater option, to drag over pads in the warm months. Also the TRD tubes. I'm trying to find an appropriate sized hook for the tubes to T-rig them like that but they are kind of short. Maybe a finesse hook or #4 kahle hook I'm thinking. Years ago I used to love fishing tubes like that, but I used longer ones and had no problem finding a proper sized hook.

    • @DEBOSFishing
      @DEBOSFishing  5 лет назад +1

      I didn't throw any tubes this year. I used to throw them a lot too. Gamakatsu made some hooks especially for tubes if I remember correctly. Keep tossing the bass jigs, they definitely catch fish! Thanks for watching!

A weight is attached to a rigid, but bendable piece of wire about 2.5 inches below the hook on a swivel, which is tied to the main line. The hooks, at this time, are EWG hooks for creature baits. The theory is that it allows the bait to move freely above the weight. I hope to try them Sunday.

    @0017Bulldog 5 лет назад +1

    Great vid. I really enjoy your style of teaching. I have become a mostly braid guy (moved up from all mono) and I was wondering your thoughts on the fluoro leader if the water I fish on is predominantly muddy. My lake (Lake Arthur in PA) is always muddy. In muddy water with 10 inches visibility (typically) would it make much difference to have that fluoro leader on my braid?

    • @DEBOSFishing
      @DEBOSFishing  5 лет назад +1

    I know this is an old video, but I just bought my first jig the other day. To make my question short, is there such a thing as fishing too long of a trailer.
    I bought a heavier 1/2oz Googan “Finesse” jig that basically has a 5/0 hook, and tore a 10” Zoom ribbon tail in half as a trailer. It looks very long in comparison hanging from the rod, but watching it as I work through the shallow water the tail seems to compress down when it hits the bottom, and then extends out as I work it.
    Bite is slow here currently, but I’m just wondering if I’ve paired it with too long of a trailer.

      Jimmy King braid is more sensitive and stronger but if your just getting in to bait casting I would go with mono

      Depends what you're using it for? I only run braid on topwater. I prefer fluorocarbon or copolymer. Braid is sensitive but I like the abrasion resistance and lack of visibility. Braid tends to be easier to cast than fluorocarbon as well. Thanks for watching!

    Love that you’re using some Ark Rods, but what happened with you and KastKing? Are you still with them?

      Thanks for watching man. Yea, they have some nice rods. My buddy let me borrow the sniper rod and I was pretty impressed. I'm still using my KastKing rods too. I don't have any sponsors right now just showing what I use.

    Awesome! I tend to use buckeye flat top for crawfish action, and strike king sexy swim jig. Cheap. Effective. And sexy! Here Muskie Muskie Muskie!!! If fishing is upon us!!!

    Hey brother, is the strikeking bitsy bug considered a finesse jig?

    • @DEBOSFishing

      Hey man! Yessir it is. I used those a couple years ago and they work well. Been obsessed with the war eagle and baby boo this year lol. Thanks for watching!

      Also, I think the Bitsy Bug line has a “flipping” model. Still a small jig, but a thicker hook.

      Rig up a shakey head hook set up. Can go lighter if need be

    What weight do you recommend when using these jigs 1/8, 3/16, etc?

    • @DEBOSFishing
      @DEBOSFishing  5 лет назад +1

      That depends on the bite. I go lighter in the summer if fish are hitting the bait on the fall. The z-man was a 1/8 oz finesse. The baby boo was a 1/4 oz. The war eagle is a 3/8. The 3/8 or half ounce are generally my go-to size.

    Put a ned style worm on that finesse jig. Not a ton of action, very subtle.

    Will these perform as well in grass?

    • @DEBOSFishing
      @DEBOSFishing  5 лет назад

      Some are better than others. But yes, swim jigs are great around grass. They don't have blades and extra things to get caught.
