If you don’t already do it, creating playlists for different techniques makes me rewatch your videos. My little brain can’t remember all of the fishing tip videos I watch.
That’s what I do. And I make playlists for seasons. Prespawn. Spawn. Post spawn. Summer. Fall. Winter. Ect. Types of lakes or rivers. Techniques ect. Matt is in most of them.
I've been throwing a 3/8-1/2oz tungsten football jig with the skirt trimmed way up a lot the last few years with a ned bait on the back.. I started doing that a while back just to see if it would work hoping to weed out some of the little fish you catch on the ned and because I got tired of staying hung with the open hook on the ned head. Now you see it talked about a lot online the last couple years. It's a phenomenal combo for sure... Great video as always keepem coming brother!!!
Matt, a while back I commented suggesting the Miller knot and saw you ended up liking it, I have new one for you to try. The PR knot, it's a leader knot that is even better than the FG knot and actually easier to tie.
Great tips and these jigs look great!! Have some of these smaller ball headed jigs, have to see if I can tweak these some and add a trailer like you have in the video thumbnail. Thanks Matt for sharing this with us!
Love the trashmaster as well, but the firecracker has got big bites for me. Have yet to try the Picasso line, just waiting for sales. Thanks for the jig video Matt
Tried the Tightrope Firework jig based on your recommendation and caught so many good fish on it this yr, including a 18lb Flathead! Really like that it's a smaller, but stout hook. My favorite jig now. Just got some of the Picassos recently as well to try. Thanks
Grabbed a few of the Keitech’s in 3/8oz this summer and trailed them with the ZMan Baby Goat, TRD and the Nikko baits ZaZa Ned and I got totally lit up! The Nikko combo boated me my PB LMB this fall and countless SMB over 5. I think one of the main reasons this Ned combo works so well is it kinda has the shape of a fleeing craw. When I felt that a little more action was needed, the baby goat with its tight twin tail profile was fire. I too trimmed my shirts to have a flared “mane” like my micro finesse jigs from Blue Rock Custom tackle but I did it to slightly alter the ROF on the drop. I can’t say forsure that it did but I did get smacked on the fall more than I ever had. Great content and Tightlines in 2024! 👊🏼🎣
those remind me of Don Iovino Finesse Jigs. Shimano made a baitcaaster called the "Castaic" that had a unique upper thumb bar clutch, meant to be used for the "Doodling technique" based on fishing finesse jigs.
Good video. I use finesse style jigs a ton of the north GA highland reservoirs. All of the ones you mentioned are popular in north GA. I also like the old school bitsy bug as well.
I keep it to two. Picasso lil spotty and then the BOSS mini ball jig. Both are great with a 2.5” chunk, 3” beaver” or zman trd. I use the boss primarily unless I know there’s some hard bottom in the area.
My buddy ties these light jigs ! 1/16 < I put a zoom super chunk on it ! Falls realy slow ! Like a worm ! But I get alot of bites with it < love the lighter jigs
Matt, Grew up on Tonka.. now live on Fork in TX.. Big has a different meaning down here.. Which of those jigs have beefier hooks or will all of them handle Double Digits?
I think they all will hold up. the keitech has the lightest hook out of them all, but Ive caught a 10.64 lb from Chickamauga on it so Id have to say they can handle it.
What's your definition of finesse? I see alot of people calling 1/2oz jigs finesse. When I think of finesse, I'm thinking 1/4oz max and smaller hooks and trailers. I actually make my own using 1/8 oz jig heads from BOSS and also some of the owner ultrahead football jig heads can be used with a small amount of skirt material. The keitech tungsten super football heads in 1/4 also are great for adding your own skirt, throw on a zman trd bugz and they can be deadly.
I'm in the Ozarks and have been experimenting with finesse jigs w/Ned trailer. I just don't think I have the correct rod. I'm having trouble casting these wail on my baitcast equipment. Maybe I need a lighter rod or softer tip. Any rod recommendations for these lighter jigs?
I would consider using a light medium hvy or a fast action medium rod. Also try a bait casting reel with an MGL spool if you can buy another baitcaster. I think it will be worth using a baitcaster for better control than spinning
I fish finesse jigs often. I use the Zoom tiny chunk in which I have 3 left. So Bait Wrx sometime ago had a sale on Zoom products. I ordered a box full. I found out today that I ordered the small chunk trailers instead of the tiny. Then I found another box of small chunks. So, I still only have 3 tiny chunks and a boat load of the small size. 🤣
@@MattStefanFishing No worries, just thought you'd like to know. Love your channel. I did a lot of fishing in WI in my youth. Now getting back to it in Virginia and trying to learn all I can. Thanks for the content.

I’ll look it up!
I love those tightrope jigs. I went a little crazy and got a dozen of them during a sale on Karl's.
They are awesome
Thanks Matt, I really appreciate this one.
Glad it was helpful!

I fish Ozark rivers and lakes and the tightrope is legit. Thx Matt. It will not get hung up.
its a winner!

You bet!
I like jig fishing haven't caught alot but the anticipation keeps me using them thx for the tips
keep trying!
I have always had good success with the strike king bitsy bug jig. Easy on the wallet also!
Right on

very cool thanks for sharing!
I got the Zaza ned at my last fishing convention! Lunar looks so freaking cool
I make a 1/4 & 3/8 football jig like the tight rope . It really works on the high pressured water in PA .
they work great!

Thanks MS! Have you used the beast coast lil magnum? Comes though cover like a dream. GL on the BPT! 🍻
i havent but i need to.
I’ve been wanting to ask about hookups with those Keitech jigs. I’ve had trouble getting fish stuck. Plenty of bites but nothing hooked.
open the hook up a little it helps a lot

Great video for this time of year especially. What type of chunk trailers do you use and what size for these micro jigs?
i like ned rigs, lil trooper, and super chunk Jr.
Thank you!
you bet!
What weight, line, and rod setups do you use for finesse jigs?
7’3” MH Fast 12 or 15 lb fluoro
Question, what line & rod are you throwing it on?
7’3” MH fast with 12 or 15 lb fluoro
What kind of rod do you recommend for fishing finesse jigs like the tight rope and other finesse jigs?
i use a light medium heavy fast action 7'3"
@@MattStefanFishing would that be a spinning rod or baitcast rod?

weight isn't the determining factor, its how compact of a design it is.
Great small mouth bait on Pickwick
Agreed!

You might want to try a medium fast action spinning rod

you should check out the beast coast fishing hustler finesse jig. Its sick

MHX nmb-873

Haha
Look at the Botttom up gap jig nice finesse jig
ill check it out!
What about a video on hair jigs
Sounds good
A trd trailer makes that tightrope snag free.
so good!
I miss a lot of fish with jigs, but I’m getting a little better.
they catch big ones!
The lake breakdowns link is broken
I need to take that down. Fish the moment is no longer offerring lake breakdowns
