I love the 30 minute feature length videos going through specific baits and how to fish them with all the information. Its so helpful and informative learning new ways to fish baits ive already used and getting confidence trying out new baits with an idea on how to fish them.
So glad your guys last few videos have been background the longer format. The amount of info you guys can put out in a 20-30 min long video is amazing!
I just started using jigs this year, my 2 biggest fish this year were both around 4lbs and both were caught on jigs. I'm glad I added jigs to my arsenal. Caught several other nice ones on vibrating jigs. So I'm hooked on jig fishing
Just learning the jig. Y’all do great informative vids. Going to the water tomorrow and putting these tips to work awesome videos keep it up glad I’m a subscriber...
Matt just bought my lady those gloves to match her shirt... She is gonna be so stoked to see this vid. She needs more confidence in jigs like I do... Quality like always! Nice work Matt n tim
A big thing with finesse jigs, the trailer make a huge impact with regard to fall rate. Like said in other comments, some use the finesse jigs with a TRD or other small stick bait. On the flip side a Paca chuck will fall slow but, hopping it off of the bottom, you get a slow flutter. Both methods have their pros.
Matt I made the decision... after you’re voice channeling through my head I finally have purchased my first Shimano Metanium MGl ... all I’m going to say smooth as butter!
After using the setup in the video and more setups you recommend I found that I was way over powering my jigs took your advice and got the exact setup and it’s night and day. Thanks for the great help guys
Just caught a 5.2 in northern Illinois on a dirty jigs Luke Clauson finesse jig. The Clauson craw color. Been getting numbers and good fish in the middle of summer on it. Jig fishing is where it's at!
Went and picked up my first glide/s waiver style bait called the jackall gantia 180. Followed some of y’all’s tips and went out on a cold front day after it had rained the day before and caught an 8 right off the bank and a 3 1/2 just after that having twitched it right next to a piece of cover. Awesome little bait and I’m a firm believer in this style of bait now having caught many more smaller fish the rest of the day. Cheers from Georgia!
The football-head jig with a craw trailer has been one of my favorite baits for a long time. That being said...I get some new info each time I watch your videos. Thanks.
Just gotta say, love yalls videos more than any other video! I learn so many little things in techniques I use all the time!! And so often Ill have a theory and y’all prove it right which makes me such a more confident fisherman! Love the channel guys keep it up!!
You guys are killing me , Lol. Just about every new video you put out, I wanna buy and try it out. So hard to resist, ha. Keep em coming guys , such great info 👍🏻
Hi, I'm from Spain and I love your channel, I would just give it a snag, for those of us who do not speak English very well, you can see subtitles in Spanish. Thanks and congratulations for the channel I'm some cracks
Thanks for all the great information! I hold your guys opinions way above any review or advice. I just started throwing a jig and I love it. I also pick up 7ft3 aird x mh for my jig rod and Its my favorite.
This video just in time. I've been throwing around a big football for a while. You don't get very many bites but when you do there usually good. But for a club guy getting 5 keepers in the boat goes a long way.
Nothing like a limit in the livewell early! except for a limit of big ones in the livewell early! I would rather have to worry about upgrading than finding the fish to fill a limit.
I know you like the Maxima, it is very strong [way over tests its rating] but it is also very large diameter and stiff. I have been using the Sufix Siege for leader and it is really tough and strong without being so stiff. Great video as usual.
Don't compare different lines by pound test: that's a huge mistake! Compare them by line diameter! Try two different lines of the same diameter and then see which one is stronger and which one has the characteristics you want. P-Line CXX is one of the strongest lines for a given diameter, but it has a lot of memory (not good on spinning reels). For a strong line without much memory you have Sufix Elite. I think Sufix Siege is very strong too, but a bit more stiff than the Elite. The Siege will have a bit more sensitivity though.
Wonderful video Matt....I am new to bass fishing....going to purchase some these jigs for my 70th birthday and hope for early ice out in the Adirondacks Thank you
James Nichols go get em James!! I'm in my sixth decade of bass fishing myself and enjoy every minute of it. My favorite video from these guys is Matt fishing with his dad last year. His Dad appears to be somewhere around our age. Happy 70th birthday Old Timer... :-)
Try a Santone Lures "Texas Finesse Jig". Good gammi hook, great colors, and best of all comes 2 to a pack. Absolutely LOVE me some Dirty Jigs, but play it smart with this one! Try a Zoom ultravibe Speed craw on that or a chigger craw 3 inch. DYNAMITE!
Lost a really good bass because of something you mentioned, was fishing that Keitech jig (football you showed, not the stronger casting model) with a tiny Paca chunk and using a 7'MH with 16lb Sunline FC Sniper. Seemed right because of the weight, could still cast a mile, had a solid 5+ maybe 6 pound largemouth on; got anxious because he kept making runs at the boat, torqued down on the fish and the line went limp almost instantly... Was worried I had my first breakoff during a fight and left a bait in a fish, but reeled in the lure to notice my hook went from a "J" shape to past an "L" shape... A good old Medium powered casting rod is all those amazing jigs need, don't push them though, sharp hooks, good build, but lacking shank and bend strength...
I always considered a finesse jig anything under 1/4 ounce, hair jigs, bitsy bugs. I took uncle josh pork grubs, took a koosh ball apart and with a big sewing needle used pieces of the koosh ball rubber to add legs to the grubs.
Chur? Stop embarassing yourselves and stop using that bumpkin word. That's the problem with an island that is so far away from everyone else on the planet.
It can't mean "whatever I want it to". Either it means hi, or bye, or thanks, it can't just mean all of it. Just stop using CHUR on an international comment section, it's embarassing for you.
check out the keitech spin jig it’s amazing comes in 1/16oz and 3/16oz , honestly it’s changed my mind on jigs, i never used them until i found these and finally gained the confidence needed to throw those 5/16oz to 1/2oz jigs
Thanks for the great video just starting to get into jig fishing. Hope I got the right set up to start with . Just got a 7 foot MH rod with a low profile reel with 6.4 / 1 ratio. Got my eye on a 7`6" heavy with 7.6 ratio reel
there is a fairly small river near me. there are largemouth in it and i catch them all the time but almost exclusively on soft plastics. they don't hit anything else. they hide behind rocks and near laydowns. there isn't grass or any other cover. they can be hard to catch too. the bite will turn off and it seems nothing will work. i was there yesterday just throwing soft plastics around. it was dead. i looked in my back pack saw a finesse jig (5/16 oz). i tied it on my size 25 spinning reel with a 6-6 medium rod. first cast i got bit. at first i thought i was hung on a rock then the drag was taking off so i knew it was a fish. it was so heavy on that spinning reel setup. eventually i get it about 10 feet in front of me (i'm on the shore). the fish jumps, shakes his head and out came the jig. sigh, it was a beast and was probably my PB for that particular river. the jig got me bit when nothing else would.
Gunna have one tied on from here n out. I had a big mop jig on with a gambler mega daddy and cam across a giant pairing up. Got her to bite 4 times and swung twice but she was only suckling it in and crushing the claws. Good thing is a cold front came through and knocked them back so I'll have some more chances!
awesome vid. GIANT beautiful bass. quick questions! do you retie your knot if you have to break your bait off? thanks guys hope you had a great memorial day weekend!!
Matt I live on lake Cumberland. I'm not any good at jig fishing, but everybody i talk to either say green pumpkin or blue black. I know you and Tim were here last year on Cumberland and Dale Hollow. Seen the video on Dale Hollow. Still waiting on the Lake Cumberland. But why do you say some orange for Cumberland? Also did I miss the Cumberland video?
???? What made you choose Cumberland as and example for the little orange color in the jig. Have you fished there? I just never hear anyone use Cumberland for example before. You hit the nail dead square on the head with that. Lake Cumberland would be considered my home lake.
Have a suggestion on rods for those 3.8 & 4.8 Keitechs on a 1/4-3/4 head? Maybe a dedicated vid on gear and comparable baits on that size...? It seems the "go-to" swim bait range, but it's often overlooked for the bigger swim baits.
A MH-XH rod depending on the manufacturer. On their smallmouth trip last year Tim was using a NRX 895 for 1/4oz head and 4.8. If you have a few rods just rig the keitechs up and tie them on and just see what feels right.
You should try trimming the weed gaurd because most come with it flat on the end i like to trim off that top corner or point to make it more streamline. I think they eat it better.
Just rewatched Edwin Evers boating a 30lb Sack on the last day of the Classic a few years back to win the title on a small finesse jig. Then TB posts this.
I love jigs! You mentioned Cumberland 😍. I really enjoyed the video and do similar things on my jigs but I always gain something from you guys. Video isnt over yet but what's your take on rattles? Worth the $ or no? Also 2 wire guards good or no? I think it pricks their mouth so I use bristle but what's your take?
You said something interesting... You mentioned using 20lb braid with a 12lb leader. Does a lighter line produce better sensitivity? Thanks! Watch you guys every day I get home from work while I'm sittin on the s******.
Okay, I had this exact thing happened to me. I'm on the bank above a culvert, and I can see a big bass right on the bank. I threw a jig with a sweet beaver green pumpkin trailer in PB&J, and it came to the bank when it landed on the bottom and stared at it I hopped it and it spooked it. What should I have done? Should I have let it sit? It also swam right over to my Junebug color stick bait beforehand. I think this is very important, and you would really be helping me out. Just 2 weeks ago.
dont be afraid to throw a big body trailer on a finesse or lightweight jig. Good for lethargic fish on calm days. Can get the fall rate almost as slow as a weightless senko, but your still targeting bigger fish
Matt....when you say that you use a leader ( on baitcast gear)......are you using a leader as in use with spinning gear? Or, are you adding 50-60 yards on top of a braid backing? Thanks again for all of your excellent work and information.
Hey man I use those Z-Man micro jigs on my jerkbait rod and man it is killer it's like a Ned rig with a skirt and with a trd hogz or a trd man it should be illegal.
Agree 100%. I use the Z-man micro jig but add either a 2-inch or a 3-inch Netbait Paca Chuck. Gives me the opportunity to have a Full-Size Jig, a Finesse Jig, and an Ultra Finesse jig
What Rod power would you recommend for the Keitech jig in particular? I wasn’t sure if a medium heavy would be too heavy for the hook that comes on it. Any help is appreciated! Thanks for all you guys do! Love your channel.
Great vid guys like always... I was wondering do you have a video focused on tying braid to flouro... I’ve been tying braid to flouro for a few years now and recently started having my knots slip out. Can’t figure out why.
They use a blood knot and it's in the video titled something along the lines of: knots to use with braid or best knots for braid. If you search braid on their channel you should be able to find it. If it slips more wraps generally helps.
Shadow ok thanks bud, I’ll look it up, but yeah idk why it’s slipping I use the improved Albright for years now n it recently started but I’ll check out their knot thanks again!
always the best info!!!!hey Matt and Tim,can you breakdown spinnerbaits, chatterbaits and buzzbaits in clear water?like when to use them, and what colors watched a 12 year old slow roll and catch a 6 ponder in clear water the other day,and he caught 3 more all on a black buzzbait....
TacticalBassin oh man I'm talking to one of the guys from TACTICAL BASS!!!! lol... Yea I know it's in the description of what they are I just like for example the thumb nail for the video still frame shots to see the design and combo up close. Or maybe it does in the description and I just haven't looked. But anyway im staying a subscriber, you guys are the best when it comes to what I call "BASS CLASS". FISH ON MY BROTHER'S!!
TacticalBassin ok I checked the description I'm an idiot lol. But I will say it's a pain in the butt looking them up one by one BUT I also know you guys only have so much film time on you tube. So in the end, I'd rather gain the knowledge then see the product.
I love the 30 minute feature length videos going through specific baits and how to fish them with all the information. Its so helpful and informative learning new ways to fish baits ive already used and getting confidence trying out new baits with an idea on how to fish them.
I love your content and learn a lot from your vids. But at 10:30 you don't dispose the trimming of your jig into the lake, do you?
So glad your guys last few videos have been background the longer format. The amount of info you guys can put out in a 20-30 min long video is amazing!
I have learned more from this channel than all others put together over the past few years!
Awesome info,, thanks once again
I just started using jigs this year, my 2 biggest fish this year were both around 4lbs and both were caught on jigs. I'm glad I added jigs to my arsenal. Caught several other nice ones on vibrating jigs. So I'm hooked on jig fishing
Just learning the jig. Y’all do great informative vids. Going to the water tomorrow and putting these tips to work awesome videos keep it up glad I’m a subscriber...
Love your video Matt... Trim your jigs into a bag to throw in the trash when you get on shore. :)
Matt just bought my lady those gloves to match her shirt... She is gonna be so stoked to see this vid. She needs more confidence in jigs like I do... Quality like always! Nice work Matt n tim
“Greatness is not a measure of how great you are but how great others came to be because of you.” ~ "Cus" D'Amato.
You guys really are the best thing in fishing right now! I can’t get enough of these super in depth breakdowns of baits, gear, and techniques.
Just fantastic! You guys take all the guesswork out of learning these techniques. Thanks for that
Matt I made the decision... after you’re voice channeling through my head I finally have purchased my first Shimano Metanium MGl ... all I’m going to say smooth as butter!
I like this guy. He knows what hes talking about and he has a teaching mentality.
Best bass videos on youtube, so much info always worth multiple watches
Went and picked up my first glide/s waiver style bait called the jackall gantia 180. Brandon Cardoso What part of GA. are you from? I'm in Tifton.
The football-head jig with a craw trailer has been one of my favorite baits for a long time. That being said...I get some new info each time I watch your videos. Thanks.
My Favorite RUclips Channel!! Thank You Matt and Tim!
Just gotta say, love yalls videos more than any other video! I learn so many little things in techniques I use all the time!! And so often Ill have a theory and y’all prove it right which makes me such a more confident fisherman! Love the channel guys keep it up!!
Awesome video! I’m a big jig fisherman and this really dials a lot more jig techniques I’m going to put to use!
You guys are killing me , Lol. Just about every new video you put out, I wanna buy and try it out. So hard to resist, ha. Keep em coming guys , such great info 👍🏻
Another great video Matt! Love the Monday, Wednesday, Friday video roll out.
I am the guy whom has never caught a jig fish, but I am going to take the info and try try try...
Thanks Matt
Skip super light (1/8 oz) jig with a beaver trailer under docks on a hot sunny day and you will be crushing em.
you guys got me chasing a giant this year,I have learned so much from Tactical!!!
thanks for all the knowledge you guys have helps us all to be better fishermen
Hi, I'm from Spain and I love your channel, I would just give it a snag, for those of us who do not speak English very well, you can see subtitles in Spanish. Thanks and congratulations for the channel I'm some cracks
I Love the Science of fishing in your videos.. Love it
Great video! Looks like great weather too! We just got 20" of snow here in MN. No fishing for a while.
Those fish treats look good you have inspired me to be more creative with my baits
Finesse jig/texas rig until you have a full limit then pull out the bigger baits to upgrade works pretty well for me.
I know you like the Maxima, it is very strong [way over tests its rating] but it is also very large diameter and stiff. I have been using the Sufix Siege for leader and it is really tough and strong without being so stiff. Great video as usual.
I like Sufix Siege also, it's been my mono choice for a couple years now, very strong stuff
Don't compare different lines by pound test: that's a huge mistake! Compare them by line diameter! I think Sufix Siege is very strong too, but a bit more stiff than the Elite. The Siege will have a bit more sensitivity though.
Elite is the best in my opinion.
Yes!!!! New Tactical Bassin vid!!! Woop woop!
Thanks to you guys i cought my first average big bass, looking forward to more and I appreciate your vids
Wonderful video Matt....I am new to bass fishing....going to purchase some these jigs for my 70th birthday and hope for early ice out in the Adirondacks Thank you
James Nichols go get em James!! I'm in my sixth decade of bass fishing myself and enjoy every minute of it.

Poured about 10 pounds of jigs this winter, with a variety of hooks. Good video, hope to compare my experiences this year!
Love the 853. I’ll fish up to 3/8 oz in moderate cover. Great for lighter trigs and senkos too
These videos about various lures and baits are the reason tactical bassin is the smartest fishing channel on the internet! Like if you agree.
Solid info, much appreciated Tactical Bassin. Keep'em coming.
Great video. I would like to see video of the finesse jig actually coming thru some wood cover if possible.
That would be cool
Lost a really good bass because of something you mentioned, was fishing that Keitech jig (football you showed, not the stronger casting model) with a tiny Paca chunk and using a 7'MH with 16lb Sunline FC Sniper. You deserve way more subscribers
Awesome finesse jig video! Love throwin a jig...
I live in New Zealand and I'm just starting to use jigs for perch and big trout so this vid is bloody good bro 👌🏼👌🏼 chur
what is a "bloody chur"? My nephew has an aussie friend and he said "chur"
aussie dicks stole that word from us haha and it just means what ever you want it to like hi bye thx just

Great video I'm gonna try this out on the delta
Great video Matt, lots of great info
Nice job describing the finesse jigs.
Learned line shy...today cool thanks for the video
Great video. So much good info. Keep up the great work.
Thanks again brother. Best vids on RUclips. No contest
another great video, would love to see a quick vid on scrounger heads
These vids are a great help, ain't caught shit but I know I will
joser384 have you caught shit yet? Haha I caught a solid spot bass on a wacky rig watermelon sinko today.
@@DrazticMeasures4 hell na lol, my 5yo daughters caught a bass (Texas rig morning dawn roboworm) and a bass (nightcrawler) shit!
7:15 What is that thing that came out of the water on the right side of the screen. Look closely at the water right behind the boat.
check out the keitech spin jig it’s amazing comes in 1/16oz and 3/16oz , honestly it’s changed my mind on jigs, i never used them until i found these and finally gained the confidence needed to throw those 5/16oz to 1/2oz jigs
Thanks for the great video just starting to get into jig fishing. Hope I got the right set up to start with . Just got a 7 foot MH rod with a low profile reel with 6.4 / 1 ratio. Got my eye on a 7`6" heavy with 7.6 ratio reel
Have tried the kietech crazy flapper? Bet it would be awesome on that finesse jig.
Fish man 1 that what I use
there is a fairly small river near me. there are largemouth in it and i catch them all the time but almost exclusively on soft plastics. they don't hit anything else. they hide behind rocks and near laydowns. there isn't grass or any other cover. they can be hard to catch too. the bite will turn off and it seems nothing will work.

Smallies just love a finesse jig..smallie candy!!

Still waiting on the
Lake Cumberland. But why do you say some orange for Cumberland? Also did I miss the Cumberland video?
Hey Matt, another great video. Do you trim your weed guard? What do you consider the proper length of the guard? Like those gloves as well! Aftco?
Awesome as usual going to the Potomac River in Maryland this weekend any tips
Sal Messina Lipless cranks are winning tournaments there.
Great video
Awesome information my friend!
Hey guys could you do a beginners video or mini series on boat fishing. Just starting out and now sure how to go about it.
???? What made you choose Cumberland as and example for the little orange color in the jig. Have you fished there? I just never hear anyone use Cumberland for example before. You hit the nail dead square on the head with that. Lake Cumberland would be considered my home lake.
I love jig fishing,I just got keitech football jig version 2,1/4 oz
I can attest to the jig. Caught my pb largemouth and spotted bass from a football head jig
Another great video! #TB!! Still waiting on the collab with Oliver.
I love jigs! You mentioned Cumberland 😍. I really enjoyed the video and do similar things on my jigs but I always gain something from you guys. Video isnt over yet but what's your take on rattles? Worth the $ or no? Also 2 wire guards good or no? I think it pricks their mouth so I use bristle but what's your take?
another great vid thanks
You said something interesting...
You mentioned using 20lb braid with a 12lb leader. Does a lighter line produce better sensitivity? Thanks! Watch you guys every day I get home from work while I'm sittin on the s******.
Matt, this video changed my fishing life!
Okay, I had this exact thing happened to me. I'm on the bank above a culvert, and I can see a big bass right on the bank. dont be afraid to throw a big body trailer on a finesse or lightweight jig. Good for lethargic fish on calm days. Can get the fall rate almost as slow as a weightless senko, but your still targeting bigger fish
Good info
love the info your the best..
I use the same the same jig but a small craw that’s cut down to about 2-3 inches and it is a creek bass killer
I just bought some of those how do you retrieve it?
I love super light jigs with beaver or craw trailers. They fall so slow and I get a lot of bites on that fall.
Curious as to why you trimmed the skirt of that jig off of the side of the boat. Why not put it in a bag and throw it away?
Man giving my secrets away lol, good video they will eat them when nothing else works
always the best info!!!!hey Matt and Tim,can you breakdown spinnerbaits, chatterbaits and buzzbaits in clear water?like when to use them, and what colors watched a 12 year old slow roll and catch a 6 ponder in clear water the other day,and he caught 3 more all on a black buzzbait....
and I caught mine on a finesse jig and also a Texas rig senko (watermelon red)I know some days they will hit anything, this wasn't one of those days
also he was slow rolling the buzzbait because he had a slow spincast reel.he caught a 6,a 4 lbs,and 2 more chunks 2 to 3
Do you have any tips on trimming the weed guard and skit?
Do you ever fish tournaments? If so, how do you do usually?
Thanks for the vids👍
Did I hear you mention Lake Cumberland in Somerset, KY? Have you fished there before?
Alright so, I love the vids, you guys tips have helped me catch toads. With that said I wish you guys could do close ups on the tackle you are showing
If you open the video description below the video you'll find each product linked where you can see close ups of colors, descriptions, etc. 👍
Excuse me. What is your blue gloves in this film?? And its brand?? It seems comfortable and convenience. Thank you a lot.
