Very much appreciated...not sure where to comment back...so I will here!
I always learn something about tobacco as I read your comments, and they are always very informative and interesting!
Perhaps we will share a bowl together soon...if we can make that happen.

    Hola Corey and Emil,
thanks so much for this wonderful conversation with both of us during a good pipe. This week some friends of mine spotted a Peterson Sherlock Holmes tobacco tin with the same old design as your University Flake in a tobacco shop in Münster/Germany. This tin was 22 years old. Maybe yours is about the same age.
It is every time a very special moment if you open an old tin. This is for me like a trip back in the history. Simply great.
    Best wishes from the 🌞🏝.

Glad the package arrived....hope all the contents are to your approval!
It's always a great surprise, and exciting to find an aged tin of tobacco hiding in plain sight!
      Take care my friend!

Hiyas Corey and Emil, what fun! So cool to see you guys together, obviously enjoying each others company, having a wonderful time. What a cool Norwegian pipe; beautiful, I love that Dublin shape with the nice thick bowl walls. A wonderful gift. The only thing that could have made it better.......was if I was there too. 🙂 Maybe next time. Oh my, that well aged Peterson University Flake!! YES, please save some for me, for next time. I really enjoyed listening to you guys chat; just like good old friends. Thank you for sharing some of your time together with us.
    Take Care and serene smokes!

Hello Gary! Yes, it was a truly special few days with Corey. Oh, we said repeatedly that youshould have been there too, but rest assured that there is a very special tin waiting for when we get together. There will be latakia, very old latakia, that is all I will say☺️. And I will do my best to save some University flake as well. And as I said, Lillehammer pipes are abundant in some areas of Göteborg, just saying…😉
      Be well my friend!

@@TinFoilHatPipeDude I would love to visit Sweden again; it's been 42 years since I was last there!! I didn't know any family there since my entire core family came to the U.S. and unfortunately, lost touch with those that stayed in Sweden. There are precious few Lillehammer pipes here; hunting for them, in Göteborg, with you, would be like a dream come true 🙂 Perhaps things will look better for overseas travel next year. Warmest Regards, dear friend.

Corey and Emil, it's very nice to see you having a great time. It's been years since I watched one hour of pipe smoking, ah!
I think Peterson tobacco's stopped being produced in Ireland around 2005, but I could very well be wrong.
    Irregular greetings, yours
    Gustavo

So good to hear from you... I've missed our interaction and have missed the irregulars!
Gonna look into the Peterson if I can...2005 really sounds familiar as a change for Peterson.
Thanks for stopping and for taking the time.
      Take care,
      Corey

Great to see you guys meeting up. I am just guessing but that U. Flake I think hasn't been made in Ireland since the early 1970's when the recipe and trademarks were sold to a blending house on the continent. I vaguely remember seeing that rectangular tin back in those days. What a wonderful gift from Emil. Emil's Orlik looks like a wonderful pipe, we used to sell Orliks at our smoke shop in Portland, and in their day they were as good a briar as anyone produced, and at a reasonable price. I have picked up a couple or Orliks on ebay for my personal collection, wonderful smokes. I would wager the burleys in the U.Flake have faded a bit but the Virginias tend to get deeper and sweeter over the years. U.Flake is also famous for a "plummy" infusion which is a very traditional flavoring agent both in the old days and today. Mark in Bremen has an old English flake, Richmond Navy Cut which is also flavored with a bit of plum. Sorry about the lengthy comment but I have to mention Old Gowrie which was one of my favorites in the old days when it was blended in Perth, Scotland. All those Rattrays blends have changed drastically when they were blended by Kolhasse and Kopp who blends them today. Lillihamers also were one of the pipes we sold at The Tinderbox, the only pipe we could find made in Norway. Great pipes. So Emil has no problem giving Corey a pipe from those darned Norwegians. LOL. Keep puffin and Corey, safe trip home.

Thanks for watching, Doug! I really enjoyed reading your comments. If anyone knows about tobacco, it´d be you! Interesting that Rattray´ s blends have changed, I don´t know when I got the tin we were smoking from but it might have been from the Perth era. It was a tin from my very early pipe smoking days that I had jared up many years later in 2011. If you ever want a Lillehammer pipe, I can help you with that. Im glad you approve of the older Orlik pipes, it is a pity the lighting was so poor as this pipe has a fantastic grain, and it smokes like a dream too. Im very lucky to still have a few plugs of Mick McQuaid, and Warrior Plug as well.
Again, thanks for watching. Do you ever consider making videos? No one knows more about tobaccos and pipes than you, and I have always liked your appearances on Tom´ s channel.
      Be well!
      Emil

One more comment from an old puffer, I met Ole Larsen decades ago when attending a wholesale trade show in Los Angeles, Ole in those days travelled extensively to trade shows and our shop bought several of his beautiful handmade pipes for our shop. He of course has passed away now but he was a wonderful very soft spoken Dane who produced spectacular straight grains one of which we bought for our store and it had a retail price of $1000 U.S., and unbeilievably sky high price point in 1980, we sold it to a collector.

Corey, my dear friend! I wish this video would go on forever, such good memories of our time together. Well, we will make it happen again! I watched the video smoking some yellow Capstan from Gary, in the sofa in my cabin. This really made my day! Im so glad this was documented, we can go back and watch anytime. Man, that University Flake was good. But that was nothing compared to meeting you in person! I have some more special tins for us to enjoy whe we do it again. Ihave my half of the tin jared up, it will be reserved for special occasions and friends. I hope you are having a great rest of the summer, we will speak soon. Take care, my friend!

Mick McQuaid plug again back in the day, I believe was produced in Ireland, very strong, no longer produced. Some of the old sailors loved plugs because, as Corey mentioned one could either smoke it or, if you were out at sea on a rolling deck of a ship where smoking was difficult, you could chew off a chunk, Rope were originally produced so that sailors could coil the rope around their belts and cut off chunks as needed.
