Ciao 👋 Corey, I completely agree. I always jar my cakes (especially @Pipe&Tobak’s cigar cakes) for months and then once I try them the fullness of the mixture evolves beautifully over the next 12 months (or as along as I can resist not smoking them through). Sounds delicious 😋 thanks for sharing. Take care, S.
Great info on some great tobaccos! The only Druquer & Sons I've tried is Blairgowrie and I absolutely love it. This gives me a good idea of what to try next. Folklore is a great blend. Hope you're enjoying it. Great video as always, and I am forever admiring your study...so many interesting books. Cheers, my friend!
Hello Eric, hope you're well! Sounds like you have a few more D & S tobaccos to try if you'd like! Yes....really enjoying the Folklore...such an interesting tobacco. Glad you stopped by....and enjoyed the video! Take care, Corey
Corey that was an amazing review of those three blends I haven't tried Lockness or the other two blends I do have a tin of Ann's of court thatsin my celler they sound amazing and I will put them in my wish cart to give them a try that was a beautiful pipe you used to smoke that last blend that was a pound of cake wow enjoy brother and have a pleasant weekend 😃👋🔥💨🍂☕
A trio of cakes (plugs, clugs) - all of them sound interesting. Of the the first two, the Monster will go on my list. I'll be looking forward to hearing your impressions of Folklore. The Folklore package is like a number of candy packages. The tuck in ends make it easy to pour out a handful and easily close the package. Well - why wouldn't you get a sweet, perhaps candy-like, note from Folklore? It's a pound cake. It's always a pleasure to see you in your library-office - especially when it's possible to read some of the titles of your books. Note on semantics - OK , there's a tree and a bush, but what is a shrub? 😉 Arguing over arbitrary classifications can indeed become a rabbit hole diversion leading far away from the main point. It can be safely left to the self-declared experts to argue out while the rest of us get on with enjoying leaf and briar whatever it's called. Be well, my friend and keep it awesome - peace
Hello again my friend! Yeah....words and semantics can be tricky! At the end of the the day...we want to smoke them. Thanks again for taking the time... ...and for your interesting comments. Take care, Corey
Hi Corey. Great reviews; quite enjoyed listening. I have to say that I agree with you about the benefit of cakes over plugs, at least in some instances. Even in some of the tinkering I've done, pressing the same tobaccos in the same percentages with less pressure compared to doing the same with more pressure has resulted in a surprising difference. And as you stated, the flavor of the more lightly pressed 'cake' was noticeably better in my opinion. Maybe it's a combination of pressure/contact of the tobaccos and also some presence of air in the 'cake' (vs little or no air in the 'plug'). The Folklore blend sounds very pleasant indeed.
Hello Jim, hope you're well! Glad you stopped by and enjoyed! Thanks for taking the time. I think you're correct regarding the ability for oxygen to permeate the cakes more so than the plugs and was you going to mention that myself. Take care, Corey,
Hola Corey, what a great video my friend abogado three very interesting tobaccos. I like the "Monster" tobacco😅. It's really good for me. Thanks again for your generous help to reach it! The Cashba seems quite good too and the Tradition I think is the most interesting of those three tobaccos I think. How many grams in one of this big pouches? Sometimes our pipes don't like to go the same way as we 😮. Me passing too sometimes 😊. Thanks so much for your impressions. Best wishes from the 🌞🏝. Michael
Hello Michael my friend! So glad you stopped by...and enjoyed! ...and glad you like the Loch Ness, it is a great tobacco. I think the Folklore will be tasty as well...finally was able to get my pipe smoking. Had dump out the tobacco and and pry out a stick that was lodged in the draft hole. Never had that happen before. The Folklore is over 450 grams...that's a lot of baccy. Take care and be well! Corey
I had a stick sometime in one of my 6mm pipes. The first time I was searching like a crazy what was happened 😄 until I found it out. Really that is a lot of baccy. Seams like the big "coffee package" from DAN TOBACCOS from Lauenburg Germany. They sold 500 grams for a lower price like a tin. This is a good idea if you like a tobacco so much😉. Have a nice weekend my friend 🤗. Michael
Hiyas Corey, Thanks for your review of the 3 tobaccos. I've had the pleasure of sampling both of those Drucquer & Sons blends. I thought that they were quite good. My current personal "Gold Standard" for a Scottish blend is Robert McConnell's Scottish Flake. The McConnell rendition has an additional rum flavoring that I find enjoyable. I have not yet tried Folklore; I'll be interested in hearing your thoughts on it. I assume that you have the 2023 version. Happy Spring Equinox, I hope all is well my friend, take care and serene smokes, Gary
Greetings Gary! Hope you're well my friend! RM SF is one of my favorite baccys. I don't smoke it too often...but always enjoy when I do. Already had a couple bowls of Folklore...but I'll let you know. .....and yes...I have the new version Take care and be well! Corey
Hello Corey I am glad to made that distinction between plugs and cakes! I totally agree. How come that no plug is called cake? So there is something about it. 👍🤝
Now. First off let me say I adore g.l. pease tobaccos, he is a master, But.. over the years I've seen c&d flakes and plugs and cakes have fluctuated in quality and design all across the board in both positive and negative ways for some. As for me I will continue my enjoyment of c&d and pease. None the less, thanks Corey! Been watching for years now keep up the great work 🙏 ps temple bar has vexed me for a few months now. Very interesting blend.have you tried that one?
Hello there my friend! That is an interesting observation! I haven't found that...but I'll keep my eye open. Thank you for your kind words and support! Yes... I have had Temple Bar with no problems...but I know what you mean. Take care and be well! Corey
Hello Corey! Thanks for a great presentation of these interesting blends. Druquer & Sons is a brand that very much falls under the radar here, people tend to focus on GLP and C&D when ordering tinned American tobaccos. I don’t believe I have tried a single one. Is it a long standing brand? Very good to see you my friend, you look well! Be well, I will talk to you soon. Emil
Greetings Emil my good friend! Glad you found the video interesting! ....yeah, Drucquer & Sons has been around for quit some time...since 1860's I think. Worth checking out if you can. We'll talk soon my friend! Take care, Corey
I don't believe I have tried any Druquer & Sons blends. I'm one who does get along with oriental or Latakia, tobaccos. I'm ok with Perique, and Burleys providing they are not too over powering. I have a very well stocked cellar and have managed to not pull any of the jars out for 2 years now so they are all getting some good age on them. Tobacco blends are like wine Cory ..... there are just too many to try them all.
Hello Brian, hope you're well! I definitely hear you regarding too many tobaccos to try. You should never feel that you have to try any tobacco from my channel. Yes...tobacco is like wine...and I enjoy both! Take care, Corey
Excellent video and review Corey 😊🤔👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Love your library too 👍👍😉
Thank you so much Lester!
Hope your well....take care!

Excellent, excellent vid Portland. Thanks a lot. Have a great weekend.

Hope you can try these someday....

Well said Corey…I am entirely persuaded as to the benefits and improvements of ageing. Even 12 months makes a difference. Best wishes my friend.
Greetings John!
Hope you are recovering and feeling better my friend!
Good to hear you agree...

I'm convinced, I want some Loch Ness. What do you hear from the tobacco guru in Bremen?
Haha...you had better find some then!
Well, Mark is doing alright...still chooching....as he says!
