Hit the LIKE BUTTON if you enjoyed this guys, thank you very much for the support. FYI, I’m
aware of the Nikkei report reiterating Switch 2’s release timing could be Q1 2025, The Nikkei
report doesn't add new info on Switch 2 in regards to release time, it says the same as other
sites, including the "could" slip further into 2025, which for that part, was speculation. We are hearing a Switch 2 reveal by Summer is likely, so I'm looking to that first. Let me know your
thoughts on this tech analysis of the Switch 2 CPU and how it does now appear that it will be a
massive upgrade. Also let me know which AAA Third Party games you want to see that were
not on the Switch 1 that you hope will be ported to the Switch 2 since it does appear now that
Switch 2 will be opening the floodgates for AAA Third Party support to return to Nintendo in a
    large way.

I disagree with many of the things you mention in this video, although you may be 100% correct
Firstly, they're is no way it will be "Switch 2" without being backwards compatible. If so, wouldn't it have to use the same architecture? They could very well use anything you might suggest, as long they distance the marketing away from anything "Switch" related.
Also, I want you to touch on what the next Nintendo system gimmick would be. Every Nintendo system has offered a new gimmick. 3DS had glasses-free 3D, Wii had motion, Wii U had tablet, Switch had docking and even some unused gimmicks like the ice cubes?? ... anyway ... Switch 2 or whatever they call their next system will have to have a new gimmick ... what will it be??? speculate!

I just hope switch 2 has 12-16 GB ram. So many ports didn’t have switch port Cus of its lack ram. 4 GB may very hard for devs to bother downgrade any PS4/xbox games to switch. Most devs didn’t bother. More ram also means better online features and system features. Maybe discord on switch 2 would be nice.
Yeah Nintendo isn’t going switch x86. It would break back words compatible with all switch games and all games would need be re-code/patch to work with x86. Too much work for devs. So Nintendo will stick with Arm and Nvidia gpu. Also when comes Arm, it’s a lot more efficient vs x86. Imo Arm maybe the future gaming on other consoles and maybe even pc at some point.

Yeah I agree. 12 GB for Vram is minimum. Consider both current gen consoles have 16 GB GDDR6. It’s the standard and what devs are targeting. There Rumours ps5 pro come with 20 GB Vram. That be nice if true. Love my ps5 with Dbrand plates (runs cool and quite). Temped see what PS5 pro is. But going to get switch 2 first If spec are decent.
Yeah hopefully Nintendo is smart. Even steam deck has 16 GB LPDDR5. Hopeful switch 2 will come with same. More powerful Arm cpu with RTX 3xxx or newer gpu. Would love able replay TOTK at 60 fps on switch 2, or what ever they call it. Grew up on NES/Snes system. Even remember my Atari 2600 lol

The Tegra X1 integrates ARM Cortex-A57 CPU cores and an NVIDIA Maxwell-based GPU, thus is an APU. The bottlenecks you talk about on the switch are more on the RAM then the APU. Also, the fact that Nintendo underclock the APU to conserve battery life. Go and look at what is possible on a hacked Mariko (Tegra X1+ T214 chip)
BotW and TotK can run at a stable 60 fps with some modest adjustments. Nintendo won't allow the full potential of these chips as they wish to conserve battery life, and hardware lifespan. Fingers crossed the Switch 2 is better optimized and based on newer ARM revisions.

The next "Switch" will be a nice upgrade from the current Switch which is being held down by 2014/2015 technology. We will likely see tech designed from 2020/2021 in the next Switch, expect something around the same power of a Steam Deck but with ARM architecture instead of x86. I'm always excited to see what Nintendo can do using new hardware, but not for the hardware itself as it is usually severely underpowered compared to similar competing devices.

The reason X86 can never match ARM in thermals has to do with the code. ARM is a RISC chip from its foundation using up to 32 GP registers and using smaller and simpler instruction.
It was designed to do simple tasks FAST. X86 however was a product of its time mainly the 1970s when ICs were horrendously expensive and SLOW. To keep the CPU designs economical and small they had to create a code that could cram as many operation as possible in one function. CISC. Yes the operation will be slow but that didn't matter in the 70s because the transistors were slow but a lot of things could be done in one SLOW instruction. But when the 80s arrived and transistors became faster CISC started to encounter clock speed and heating issues. Intel remedied this problem with the Pentium Pro in 1995 essentially bolting their own custom RISC core with two translator circuitry on each end to retain compatibility with legacy X86 code.
Basically all Intel (since P6) and AMDs (since K5) are RISC CPUs at its core. So why does it have trouble keeping its thermals down compared to ARM?
Because the translation circuit that converts input X86 code to RISC Micro Ops and back to output X86 code again creates the extra heat.

now I dont want to speculate too much but what if one of the lower power clusters that usually takes care of downloads and OS tasks is just a shrunk version of an X1. That way Nintendo would get binary compatible back compat even for physical media. This would be a combination of PS2 and PS5 back compat. There needs to be a layer connecting NV1 to NV2 and then the game can take advantage of the bigger GPU horsepower, essentially maxing out all Switch games barely having DRS kick in.

TV mode is where most AAA games can shine. Now if the tablet was 4.2 Tflops in portable mode and 6.2 Tflops in TV mode that would be great but if every tablet had an Oculink cable to support an external GPU and you had the option to buy the tablet with a standard Switch 2 dock for say $299 or a Switch 2 with a PowerDock which could make use of the Oculink cable and their old SCD patent and if this power dock was half the power of the Switch 2 tablet your looking at a total of 9.4 Tflops

Bringing all these expectations can also fill up with disappointement. People will start tontzke for granted that ff7 remake and elder ring are the minimum to come one the new console for instance. If i listen to what you are saying, third party devs are going to port the entire AAA ps4-ps5 library. That makes a huge amount of games as you sayd.

I’ve been spoiled as a jrpg fan with Switch. But I still look at games like Persona 3 Reload, FF7: Rebirth, and even Tales of Arise and think, “These games are made for the Switch audience.” But it apparently can’t run them well enough. Arise, I kinda question. I kinda question P3R as well. But there are thirty million Switch units in Japan alone. And probably every jrpg fan globally owns a Switch at this point. But we’re stuck getting the AA Team Asano games from Square and not the big guys they need desperately need to recoop their losses on.

      @SuperMetalDave64  6 месяцев назад +3

Reports are saying an 8 inch screen and the ability to play ports from PS5/Xbox Series X at decent settings, it would need a CPU with at least 8 cores imo, but it's also going to be newer than those consoles, so it's going to have that on it's side as well, meaning more bang for less specs on paper. Sometimes the numbers on a spec sheet don't tell you everything if the specs are years newer.

    • @Duke_of_Petchington

@etalDave64 Imo Nintendo do have almost Market Monopoly in the Portable Consoles, but they cannot rely on that forever, you mention the CPU but not the GPU which is what help a lot of the Bigger Console do what they do.
that being said, MS and Sony haven't really been doing all that well with their platforms. yes they have impressive Power but they haven't really got anything good to play on them, especially since they are now reaching their Half Life point, I think Nintendo can also smell blood in the water (which is where my theory on Nintendo making a push back into the Home Entertainment Style console that we see with the other 2):
Switch 2 or Rather the Switch MK2 is just the tip of the spear, Nintendo could be making 2 new consoles for all we know with switch 2 being the way to keep in the Portable Console market, then come in strong with Home Entertainment Console and kick the door down on MS's and Sony's grip on that market. however this just a theory but anything is possible as Nintendo did this in the Past with DS and Wii platforms.
another thing is with Nintendo is they like to keep things hushed until the last possible second. so we know what they doing for a switch replacement but they could be planning something else.

I’m no game dev, but I have doubts about Switch 2 using more than two kinds of cores in its CPU.
To make development easier, knowing that devs on console usually manage to get good parallelism on the CPU, using a streamlined set of CPU cores seems more likely.
If it ends up using a custom ARM CPU, I can see it using eight A78 cores and two A55 cores for background tasks / OS tasks.
Leaving all 8 of the performance cores to work on the game (Unlike PS5 and Series, which only have 7 cores available to games).
Kinda like how Wii U did it, it had a secondary ARM CPU to handle everything outside of games, leaving the three PowerPC cores being 100% dedicated to games.

Nintendo does not need an arm cpu for backwards compatibility seeing that the steam deck can play switch games better than a switch...

The cpu containing the cores: cortex X4, Cortex-A720 Cortex-A720 and Cortex-A520 in the exynos 2400 is an arm cpu..... but it's not compatable with the one in the switch lol.
And is a terrible cpu for a gaming system.

I agree with you, I'm mainly talking about "ease" of it, I think having the same basic architecture as Switch OG would streamline B/C better than x86. I don't dismiss that it's possible Nintendo "could" go with something x86 based, I just think the odds are in heavy favor of ARM at this point.

@@SuperMetalDave64That arm cpu is not compatable with the arm cpu in the switch. It dropped 32 bit support, which some switch games, including some very very very big switch games, need.

The switch 2 cpu wont be as powerful as the steam deck one and no the steam deck on the more demanding switch games like totk even with all the optimizations runs worse than native hardware

@xtr.7662 might want to look at some benchmarks of the a78 @ 2Ghz (2 watts) vs the apu0405 zen in the steamdeck at 3.5ghz........

Dave is the only RUclipsr that takes the 2025 rumor as a rumor and not fact. Anyone else has accepted 2025 like fact.

Watch Nintendo just use the same processor in switch 2.

I think Nintendo has made enough money to innovate, given their track record, if they lose money on tech, the just repurpose it and make the R&D money back, i.e. Wii U to the Switch. They also let their competitors go first to see what's working with consumers and what isn't. With that being being said, the next system should have 4k 60, WiFi 6, A forward and backward facing camera, AR (with VR capabilities) an SSD, Back Compatible, A "no dock" version but the ability to cast/stream onto any screen, Bluetooth, new Pro Controller w/HD Rumble and the Joy-Cons won't detach but the old ones will be compatible. All controllers will still be compatible. It will also be PS4 PRO Levels spec wise.
***For a bonus guess...I'd say they'll have a cell chip inside to link to a provider for always online data and FaceTime.

I don't care about all these old games coming to NS2, and the greater gaming-community doesn't either. Don't be a silly fanboy or fangirl; play the games.

It doesn't use a GPU. Nintendo invented a new tech that goes beyond a GPU and CPU. Also how come every system people repeat the old "3rd party is coming back!" It never left with the Switch...and most people don't care about 3rd parties on their Nintendo system.
