If I may point your attention to the Fourth Doctor quote from The Face of Evil:
The very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. They don't alter their views to fit the facts. They alter the facts to fit their views.
I read that in the great Tom Baker's voice.
I used to be friends with someone who loved The Critical Drinker. One day I tried to point out to him that the Drinker was very sexist and racist among other things. He told me I just didn't understand. Then he ghosted me... I've known him since we were five years old. (We are in our 30s now) There was a time we would've called each other best friends... He ghosted me because I called out his favorite RUclipsr for selling hate. This stuff is not a joke! They've almost completely taken over the conversation in nerd culture on RUclips. We need more voice like you standing against this and calling them out.
I suggest you try engaging your brain before calling the drinker sexist and racist ...he's never been any such thing ffs , what he does do is call out the the utter wokery of Hollywood ...don't be that guy please
@@petechambers541 lol
The Anti woke right are utterly convinced they are the victims always. Crying about being cancelled usually from a broadsheet paper or a tabloid, ranting about how everything is woke now whilst on a book tour. I love how she absolutely nails it in this interview its so rare that these people get called out on this bullsh*t.
once again the media proves it can never be happy about anything
I saw someone watching that GBNews clip from afar (I only took note because I saw the regeneration scene over their shoulder) so I checked it out for myself.
Then was left chuckling for a fair few minutes on two counts.
One, they likely haven't even *seen* Doctor Who (those Daleks aren't there just as funky pepper pots you know) and are just spouting titbits they've heard bandied around.
Two, and this is my favourite. That they somehow think the return of Tennant and RTD is going to 'unwoke' it. Ha! It just makes me laugh at the image of their heads exploding when they see the next cast includes Ncuti Gatwa and Yasmin Finney. Not to mention what RTD will write about given he has evolved his writing since he left.
Deliciously fun - insert Mr Burns voice "Excellent".
I hadn't seen that clip of Rakie Ayola and I don't think there's an issue with the question being asked (assuming it was a viewer question rather than the interviewer) but boy what a great answer. Total class.
I think Dan Wotton has gone a little bit nuts. He forgets that The Doctor can anyone and anything
Nope.
@@TBOTSS very insightful response...
Dan Wootton thinks we should LISTEN & BELIEVE, until it’s about him. He has burned people’s lives down, so I hope he gets his own soon. He has TONS of skeletons that have been coming out of the closet for years, but it’s catching up with him now.
How the hell is bringing back David Tennant as the Doctor for the 60th year considered to be "woke"? 🤦
I think the video that he played was saying that David’s return is a reaction to the show going so “woke” they had to bring him back to get back the viewers that were leaving in droves over the “wokeness” which isn’t true but with the changing landscape of television a lot of shows are probably not getting the viewership that the doctor used to get
@@kevin10001 I get that. GB News can get in the bin.
Y’know, this was like the exact thing that so many of the anti-Wokes wanted. Bringing back David Tennant, they do it, and they’re still not happy
@@kevin10001 the show is still one of the most watched programmes in the country right now, regular Television is just dying with regards to the ratings at this point.
It’s a course correction, an admission of being woke in every way.
This era of the show has been the most decisive for the revival cause more people went into it era not willing to give it chance for a number of reasons hating the casting of the doctor or already hating chris chibnall for example and before season 11 started hate got to a point where u had to either instantly love Jodie or instantly hate her and it felt like there was no place for middle of the road people like me who wanted to wait until we saw the her in the role before we made our judgement
one small positive about the BBC interview was that she gave a very clear answer on how to deal with/question people when say something is 'woke'.
god that speech from rakie ayola was so satisfying to hear
Dan has a terrifying smile, I hope RTD gives us another story about fake news in 2024 being run by an alien with a wide, creepy smile
Woke literally just means anything they don't like, its not an actual political movement or concept, its like the whole SJW thing, its just literally a placeholder. Like I'd rather they just actually criticise the actual clips of the show which were preachy instead of this stupid terminology. Like I think the end of Orphan 55 is poorly handled, but I don't really grasp why a gay black guy being a time traveler is a problem is what I'm getting at
He says "David Tennent as Doctor Who". No. It's David Tennent as "the Doctor".
It's both or the medicine man or Doctor mysterio
Or get off this planet.
"Doctor Who is finished as Saturday night TV!" Damn straight, it airs on Sunday's nowadays!
I wish Christmas episodes would come back 😭
How can we get Mr Tardis on GB news, I would love to watch that!
They don't like anyone that makes them look like the idiots they are, so i doubt they would invite him on.
What he should’ve said was that they were bringing back David Tennant as a bait and switch tactic
Doctor who is woke, but it always has been, I can't speak for classic who but since 2005 the stories have always had very left wing messaging: enviroment, anti war, anti slavery, anti
Fascism, Queer representation...not sure why people are getting mad at it now
Its not just Dr Who getting attacked for being 'woke' - a term used by the political & religious right for anything they don't like - but the other classic 60's-born franchise, Star Trek. I enjoy pointing out that if they think a TV show about an egalitarian society exploring space is too woke for them, if they want right-wing bias fiction...they should watch Fox news😄.
He claims to be a ST fan, but Trek has been "woke" since the Shatner days.
Came here to say this, amused at him being more of a fan of a show that's even leaps and strides more "woke" than Doctor Who.
Wonder what he thought about Kirk and Uhura having a little kiss all those years ago.
Love your videos, Mr. TARDIS! Keep up the great work!
I especially love the guest saying they were always a fan of Star Trek, which arguably is way more "woke" than Doctor Who ever was
The guest is a comedian so racist he was taken off TV in the 90's and hasn't been on it since, aside from making guest appearances on far-right news stations and the odd interview where he is wheeled out as a kind of examination of a darker time, like an interview with a war criminal or serial killer.
If ever you want to see 'anti-woke' people being destroyed, watch James O'Brien roasting LBC callers!
Love that guy!
You mean the paid stooges he roasts lol..O'Brian couldn't roast a chestnut ffs
Dan wooton took the career choice to be as unpleasant and bitter by any means necessary and GB news is just the platform for him to revel in that choice
He took a career choice of telling the truth - however "unpleasant " that may be to some . (Thankfully ) his (and others too ) intitial bravery doing this has emboldened more people in the media to speak the truth and fight delusion and indocrinastion . The more that "triggers" people (like you?) the more it shows it is having an impact . This puerile and infantile sulk of a blog is a classic trigger reaction .
The thing about so-called "wokeness" is that it's been in Doctor Who certainly since it came back, and even before then (step forward Helen A.). In Rose, for example, she was brought up in a single parent family and had a black boyfriend. Not remotely shocking, but some people on the internet were upset about this, claiming it was more akin to a soap opera. Captain Jack, of course, was the first openly pansexual character on TV aimed at children. Martha Jones's ethnicity was a point of contention for some people. It's one of those things that's always been there, sadly.
I would argue that since 2016, a lot of closet -phobes have come out of the wordwork, controlling the discourse in a profoundly negative way. These people have the confidence to be deeply unpleasant due to the way certain parts of the media are reporting on certain stories. There are too many people living in echo chambers, quite honestly, and I think it's damaging to both intelligent conversation and intellectual debate. Wootton and his ilk need to grow up, frankly.
The show’s been woke pretty much since it started, especially since The Daleks had very heavy Nazi allegories, but these people know less about Doctor Who than Queen Victoria so it’s not surprising
Just so wrong.
@@wardjunior1450 Elaborate.
@@tTaseric as ever, no.

Rakie Ayola was heroic in that clip. Also, can you do a video about Bowlestrek's "Power Of The Doctor" video?
I've gone on his channel and can't see a video for the past 7 months. Has he posted elsewhere?
@@MrTARDIS I can't find it either. After he did that interview with Jay Exci, he disappeared.
@@fadikhoory5350 you do Cybermen injustice...they at least have some logic. Bowlestrek would be simply deleted, lol
dan wootan the British dave rubin
Yet he also looks a mutant version of Kristian Harloff off Collider. How's that for a reference.
The list is a mile long with movies/tv shows that right wingers would have gone after if the internet was around in the 1970's and 1980's. The Aliens movies come to mind, Sigourney Weaver being the hero. Can you just imagine the kvetching, wailing, belly aching, and gnashing of teeth? "Oh,...she shouldn't be doing blah blah blah". You currently see it taking place with the outstanding series 'The Witcher'.
There's really a lot to unpack about a guy complaining Dr Who is going too woke while also citing that they preferred Star Trek; like, you're talking about two of the most progressive, long-running sci-fi shows , Star Trek especially, and you're trying to skip around this for a "go woke, go broke" narrative. And then on top of that, they're ignoring that the returning showrunner is Russel "is there a right way to pronounce Davies?" Davies, the guy who not only made his premier season of Dr Who as LGBTQ+ friendly as possible and continued with that throughout his tenure, but has turned out a great deal of progressive television outside of his stint on Dr Who.
I know it's a grift and they're being deliberate in their omissions, but fuck me...
Strange how that trailer jumps from a scene of 2 cars crashing to a pic of Whittaker. Hmmmmm
Oooo, this is going to be fun lol
Such a cute little kitty!!
May I bring up that Russell came back intentionally without the BBC asking him to, or is that too demonstrative to Dan's point?
Knowing I'd commented on the video MrTardis mentioned, as he went into the comment section, my heart rate spiked as I thought: Oh my heaven. What did i say? Is it me? Is it-OH THANK THE LORD. It's not me. Then I went to check what I actually said and turns out i'd just quoted Sylvester McCoy about helicopters.
*sigh* Why do I panic so easily? I'm even in support of "wokery", even if I don't like the way Chris wrote a lot of his stuff.
Mr Tardis you should run for government! We need people like you in this new hateful world!
When. The perverting Wootton being charged?
Just playing devil's advocate for a second and I'm not entirely convinced of this point myself but I feel it's an important point to consider, perhaps the question was asked in order to get that specific response for the purpose of shutting down the argument of weather or not the show is woke. Yeah there's probably a better way to go about it but it's worth considering, after all the BBC is meant to be imparshal so they couldn't exactly call the claims ridiculous themselves, if you were to go by their own policy anyways. Not saying it was right in any way I just wonder if it was intended differently. I'm sure we've all tried to make a point in the past and ended up sounding like a prat, and anyone who says they haven't needs to do some serious self reflection. Apologies for going on a bit of a tangent, being dyslexic I often struggle to make my point on paper.
Edit: I forgot to mention I do agree with what you're saying I just think there's more to it.
With the Pact example, it's just conservatives being racist, nothing more, nothing less.
I always understood "woke" as a political or moral message that jeopardises the original and intended purpose of its medium.
There is no way that any reasonable viewer can justify that black family living in Wales can be described as woke. Totally ridiculous.
Trilbee, it seems like you are the sole voice of sanity, intelligence, heart and professionalism these days and you are a mental port in the storm for me. When you upload stuff like this, I know the dreadful things are out there but I feel a bit more secure knowing you are calling this shit out and striking back!
You are one of the best people I've ever subscribed to and I'm glad I found you 12 years ago. Well worth pulling a back muscle and being forced to stay home from school that day in Year 10!
An important thing to note is that this vile right-wing shit also comes from shitposting locations, not just the old-fashioned boomers. Whether imageboards like 4chan or Facebook groups dedicated to shitposting, a toxic, hateful element will crop up and in some cases, take over and just freely spout hateful discriminatory rhetoric in the medium of a meme, regardless if it's funny or not (spoiler: it's not, only the human garbage that hold this mindset laugh).
This is done to provoke or trigger what they believe to be "the left". New groups on Facebook had to be made just to get away from their necrotic thoughts and finally breathe life and humour into the memes again.
He said he liked Star Trek more... yeah famously a-political show.
Woke meaning alert to societal injustice, I would say Star Trek is very woke
Much more so than even Doctor Who, with an original creator* who openly talked for two decades about the progressive content being the whole point of the show.
*- yeah, he had help. But they all said the same thing!
How many fans even watch GB News?
non-fans*
I switched on to GB news by mistake and doubled their viewership.
I love how all of the people who utterly dispise Doctor Who for being "wOkE" is that they always preface it with either "I never really liked Doctor Who anyway" or "I've been watching ever since the very first episode in 1963!" At least the former is honest about it.
Jim Davidson preferred Star Trek to Doctor Who?
Star Trek, a left wing franchise that had the first multiracial kiss?
Arguably more left-wing as the Federation was a racially diverse society with a socialist economic model.
Trilbee, may God help anyone who gets your attention- you will DESTROY them!
2:31 No we wouldn’t be, who would come here? We’re living in the stupidest era of history. I’d rather go back to the Black Death.

Rakie Ayola, absolute QUEEN
It's woke because it's following the ever present mandatory diversity quota in its casting for diversity's sake, they had a women and now they have a gay black man coming after Tennant who they needed to put in between to try and bring some audience back. Truthfully it's been going woke ever since Jack and the whole Torchwood debacle.
But how do you know that the casting of Jodie Whittaker and Ncuti Gatwa was done to meet quotas? Where's your evidence?
@@MrTARDIS because after 50 + years in the time of wokeness they changed his sex and colour!
@@boxinggospel5334 yeah, and?

@@ryanturner9142 Is this sarcasm?
Why you ask?
Hi just wanted to answer your question if you don't mind. why has doctor who become woke and what I mean by woke? Well the fact that there are women, gays, trans that show diversity and Doctor who is a platform for diversity but and this is a big but, it is what you do with the character. In Jodie's era the doctor preached about woke issues granted some are very relevant but we watch doctor who to relax and leave real problems behind and then , climate change and the white man, no scratch that man are bad and women are excellent. When that is not true. Because of this the doctor never had real character growth, dare I say she was acting like a man in a women's body, there was no adaptation , real growth and a lot of lazy/ woke writing designed to shove social/ political ideas in the viewers mouth and then blaming it on the fan base because of their failure to convey such an amazing and wonderous change in the proper manner. Basically Jodie's era could have been so much more but woke and lazy writing wasted that opportunity. thankyou very much :)
Tell me you’ve never watched Classic Who and forgot about certain people in front and behind of the camera without telling me.

so, like, wut do u mean when u call people 'actually schizophrenic'? I think invoking and reinforcing ableism as a cheap way of attacking people is pretty shitty to disabled folks. Like, would you say those words if you yourself were schizophrenic? You wouldn't.
It's the current Conservative tactic to actively divorce their audience from reality. To create an alternative reality around them. I do not use that term as an insult, or as a jab at those who are schizophrenic but that is literally what is happening.
Not all people with mental illness are a threat or a danger, obviously. But there is a very real effort to try and misinform and radicalize people to such an extent that it's akin to schizophrenia.
@@MrTARDIS seems like something you should avoid imo... coz I think it does contribute to stigmatisation of people u aren't aiming at
@@LucyGooseyLicious I admit it's difficult, because you want to be respectful and not stigmatize, but you also need to acknowledge how people are being radicalized and how fake realities are being constructed by the political right.
@@MrTARDIS maybe it's best to just describe it more like that, as fake realities being constructed by the right.
It is a difficult task trying to untangle our language from ableism coz ableism is pretty embedded into much of our language... but even if it means more clunkily fumbling around for other ways of expressing stuff, I think it's worth the effort and the awkwardness of not knowing better words for a while.
