Nice! I used to own a Chewlix years ago which worked and felt great. Put a 360 in it. They're really easy to throw different boards, PCs and/or consoles inside. If you're hard pressed for space. I'd recommend looking for "Mega Bezel Hyperspace Madness shaders" for Retroarch for a pretty decent CRT-esque experience on a flat panel.
Yeah, I never really thought much of "modern" gaming but there are some really great options available to play here. PC based hardware makes this pretty easy and unlocks a lot of options.
Nice. A lot of people call the Orange Diamond Vewlix the SFV cab but it was actually released years before SFV type arcade ever came out in Japan. The control panel you have is the original and stock panel for the orange diamond. Also SFV type arcade was released on TTX4 and does NOT use fast io, it uses a newer IO called USB IO.
Looks pristine!…Very nice pickup; I haven’t paid much attention to the styling of modern cabs when I’ve seen them in the wild but it’s a very slick unit and I kind of want one myself now lol! Ps - impressed that you’re still even able to churn out YT content with the little’un on the scene 👍🏼🙂

Like u Joe, I like the late 80's,90's arcade games .Have an Astro,Blast,Ecellenna and a Noami ,but I had the itch to play more modern arcade game like SF4 ect. And picked up a Namco Noir 12 months ago... Absolutely love it ...1080p Looks fantastic 👌... only thing, I had to strip it down into pieces to get it up stairs thou..... What a mission😏
Nice pickup and video, great cab. I remember playing on these at a game centre in Osaka a few years back. Always fancied to get one as they are quite a bit smaller due to not having a crt. Still yet to get a cab but I’d love at least one sit down in the future.
It’s my first dabble into PC based hardware. It was fun seeing where “modern” arcade gaming has landed and learning about the swapping of parts and what not.
Yeah, far better condition than I expected it to be in that's for sure. The other candy cabs were pretty filthy and needed a lot more cleaning when I got them.
I have been frost HING st the mouth for this vewlix video and you delivered! The cab looks great and excellent condition it looks awesome 🤩 I find myself always going back to play street fighter 4 over street fighter 5it hits harder for me
I own an L and Diamond Blue. They are really good cabs, I love my noirs more for HD cabs, but these really are compact and well made cabinets. Great video btw. I may want 1 more, but can’t decide between the D orange, D black or the FC….. 😅
I've never seen an orange Vewlix before, not sure these are even on the Arcade Otaku wiki, looks super nice though. I'd love to get one of these to run modern arcade games and consoles, and get the added benefit of not having to worry about expensive/unobtainable parts failures, CRT based machines I'm looking at you...
The Vewlix cabinets are definitely the best looking modern cabs, I have a couple of Sega lindberghs for my JVS games which look a bit too much like johnny number 5 but I am still fond of them 🤣, Since they come with JVS IO I use that with the TTX3 and it works fine for me, so many amazing fighters on that multi, and I also do enjoy playing a bit of Wangan midnight or Initial D using a xbox controller ! it feels a bit weird at first but its still a bit of fun !

Well shit dude. This might be the reason to pull the trigger on a viewlix for myself. I knew there were multi game options, but that looks slick as hell
It's pretty sweet. Its really not a lot different than a PC and PC gaming with arcade titles, but its the form factor that really brings it all home. I really like Virtua Fighter 5 eSports. Pretty much anything on Tecknoparrot you can get running.

Hey Joe, Great video! Currently contemplating a Viewlix purchase and was curious why you chose the Type x3 vs 4. My understanding is the upcoming SF6 Arcade release will be using x4’s USB I/O and if getting an x3 will cause a problem or it’s just a matter of a future multi image update. Thanks!
I bought the X3 (and the Vewlix) before SF6 was even a consideration. That said, the multi image I wanted to use was built for the X3 and it does have the fast I/O. I can’t recall what I showed in the video but I was able to upgrade both the processor and graphics card on the X3 as well. In short, at the time it was the unit that was best supported by the community.
Yeah I swapped the fans out on the TTX3. They were loud and dirty. Ended up stripping the entire case and washing it with Dawn. It smells much less than it did.
Same as other candies really where they vary from 1L to 2L. Depends on what the purpose of the cabinet was or if it were linked to another machine. I could get a 2P panel but realistically it wouldn’t see that much use.
Any direction or links on how exactly you put new GPU/CPU in the Type X? Yes I am a PC guy, I’d be fine with following any instructions if you could link me to a reliable source. I have the X4, and 3, but looking to put a GTX 1070 as well as 4th Gen i7 Inside my unit. Warm Regards.
The processor is a drop in but for graphics cards you need to update the bios to have complete freedom. If you search for TTX3 bios on Arcade-Projects forum there is a thread for it and the bios you need.
I change my mind on these cabs over and over… I think once 32 inch OLED’s are a thing, I might get involved. Maybe… I just don’t know, Joe!!! I have CRT cabs for CRT era stuff, and I have a big comfy chair and a really nice customised stick I can play the larger format more modern games on. … but then I love a cab and the subjective experience of sitting down at one is awesome to me… and these things look beautiful. I really can’t settle on an opinion. Would be great to see a follow up, once you’ve had it for six months. Long term opinions. Does it actually get used as much as you’d thought etc? Nice vid as ever, dude.
Yeah, I was pretty much where you are. I just really liked the idea of getting "new" SNK games on modern arcade hardware. Everything else is a huge bonus, including VF5.
I know how ya feel joe! HAHA Great video, love the unscripted format. That vewlix looks awesome. Is it emulation then since it's on a PC or were these games developed on that PC to run native? Those are modern Arcade games so I'm absolutely clueless on those. Just curious. The cab looks awesome, I would love one of those in the house. Very cool looking. Hope you get all the sleep ya need and all the projects you want to get done. Don't worry about being tired, you get used to it after a year or so!
Yeah, most of the modern games were designed to run on PC based hardware so its almost irrelevant what PC theyre running on. Variations of PC based hardware are, for the most part, variances in GPU and processors. There are of course some I/O changes as well but they all mostly work interchangeably. There are some titles included on the multi that I hid that are actually being emulated (Konami, Midway, and some other games).
Nice set up Joe, I'm an old school crt SF2 player and have 16 candy cabs, I'm also diving into a Viewlix from Game Saru in December. Would you be able to Clone a Hard Drive for me if I sent it to you? I'm not tech savvy and would really like that Artax front end. All I'm really after is SFIV, SFV, Sam Sho, Tekken 7 & Possibly VF5/6
Haha, it’s pretty cool. The TTX3 multi will run/emulate a lot of titles and the LCD seems less intimidating to people than a CRT. If these weren’t getting so pricey they’d be the ideal cabinet.
I’ve never added any new games. From my understanding it’s not easy to do and requires a lot of setup. There is a thread on how to build a front end that auto launches on Arcade-Projects however. For Afterburner I’ve only used an Xbox controller. I’m sure there are better options though.
I have a Vewlix F and a Taito Type X3 with this same multi. I want to play other retro games with pc emulation. What would I need to be able to switch back and forth? A brook fighting board? Also, would I be able to connect an external drive with hyperspin on it to the TTX3 and just change the boot priority in the bios or would I need to buy a raspberry pi/a separate pc?
I don't understand what use these LCD monitor based cabinets may have for home use, I can see these having a purpose while on location inside an arcade center eating quarters from customers, but for personal use these things are no different than any TFT screen paired with any good USB arcade stick, IMO arcade is RGB CRT + jamma boards.
You’re right, it’s garbage and it’s going back! I honestly kind of felt like you did for a long time. In some ways the same argument could be made for CRT based cabs as well; just get a Supergun. For me I think there is just a mood or charm to actual cabs, not to mention that it’s the progression of a hobby and this is it’s current state. I enjoyed learning about the TTX3, Fast I/O and a more simplified hardware setup. From a strictly logical standpoint you might be correct, but it’s the intangibles that make it great.
There's something to be said about playing modern games on a sturdy solid piece made specifically to sit down and play on. You could use fight sticks nothing wrong with that but being able to sit down and experience a game on a purpose built cabinet is different experience all together. Being LCD and widescreen means alot of flexibility with modern hardware or PC or consoles. Game remasters, and special ports of classic games too. I found it enjoyable to think about what newer games may translate to an arcade cabinet that otherwise wouldn't be on one as well.
You definitely won the Vewlix lottery with that one. Seems like a lot of the examples I see for sale are absolutely trashed. Mine took quite a bit of cleaning before it was presentable. How's the fan noise on the Orange? Is it anywhere near as obnoxious as it is on the F?
Hello, what did you notice in the commands regarding the response time with these new screens, since here we are more used to analog signals with CRT screens
I think most (maybe all?) are stock single player panels. I really wasn’t concerned about it and assumed I’d need to replace the control panel anyways. As it turned out the control panel was in great shape and my idiot friends don’t deserve to play on this thing.
I’d have to check. I have a few sets in the basement from the wood cabs rolling in and these were a fit. Definitely shorter smaller wheels than what I use on the Midways.
You’re not the first person to ask that. Yertle is my boy. I’ve had him since 4th grade. The video would totally tank and get six views but it’s not out of the question. I love that guy so much.
Maybe it's time to re-organize your videos by Playlist? I wanted to watch some specific videos you made but noticed you didn't make a Playlist for them.
Samsho is a great game but, it doesn't run as well on the switch. SNK heroines doesn't run well on the switch either. You already know. But I don't regret getting a physical copy of it for the switch
It’s the only modern system I have so it’s Switch or bust unfortunately. I’ve had to turn down some recent arcade-styled game reviews for PS5 because I don’t have one. I need to find someone local I can borrow one from once in a while. I don’t think I can justify buying one as I’d never play it outside of rare circumstances.
@@ScarletSprites There's nothing interesting for the ps5. So I don't blame you. But I can understand why you are not interested in modern gaming. Most of my money has been spent on retro games and retro HD collections for the past few years.
You basically are a clone of me. I have kasa wifi plugs, ran 80 more amp in the panel, etc. And now you are at the vewlix stage. Do youself a favor and run the 2013 killer instinct in there.
