The thing that gets me about this setup is you already have at least a better arcade then the majority of those places that are still in business. Ticket and redemption games are crap, yet operators love the hell out of them and have no problem with saying "money talks" in their effort to push the hardcore gaming audience aside.
Doesn't matter what games you have ported or emulated, they're still the real deal regardless.
The dream! I've been obsessed with Vewlix's as well since sf4. I plan to buy 2 of these cabinets as well one day. Need to purchase a house first though.

The Chewlix are great, the only part that is worth swapping to original is the complete control panel as it’s so much sturdier due to the thicker and heavier metal. Try them next to each other and it is like night and day when playing your games.

I have been debating on what arcade cabinet builders I should go with but honestly I'm huge fan of the candy cab looks simple and clean. Wanna do a pc build with retro games and have my dreamcast also hooked up so this video just is big time goals for me.
Seeing this made me really happy! I'm on the same buy, and mine is arriving Tuesday. (I got blue/black 2p). They look awesome, and I'm stoked! PS4 and Taito Type X2 is going in mine. :)

If you’re into modern cabinets, I build a pretty neat wall mounted model for Umbrella Arcades. I do full builds, but the shell itself is also on there. They are made of powder coated steel, and are handmade in the US.
Ive seen those and they look awesome but so expensive. Do you sell the shell only?

There are hdmi splitters that strip HDCP. I got a cheap one off Amazon back in the day to use an hdmi capture card with ps3.
Swapped out the monitors for better ones so this is not needed anymore

They're very affordable IF you get in on a group buy. I bought one years ago on my own, initial price was $640. After shipping, customs, etc it was $1400...
A friend got one in a group buy, initial price $660, in the end he paid out around $900. His had a Pandora's Box, mine did not. They're also very space efficient.

i know this is a long time ago video, but i bypassed the HDCP on PS3 with having a normal hdmi extender.
Nice video I have chewlix and a vewlix they are pretty much the same thing... You made a good Choice most vewlixs still have a 720 monitors !

thelegendcollector I recently swapped the monitors to LG 1ms monitors so they are even better. I’ll be making an updated video soon with all the updates.

I just got mine about a month ago, 2 player variant . I Also ripped out the jammer cables for two brook boards and connected it to my pc, as most newer games don’t support keyboard 2 players that easily, and kB setup using the jpac software is slow.

So if you had left the JAMMA in there could you play older PCBs like the Neo Geo, Atomiswave, PGM, etc? Would it be weird if it displays in 1080 and they were never designed for that?
Correct. I still have the jamma connectors inside (just tucked away). To be honest I’m not sure how pcb games output on the stock monitors. My best guess is that they are upscaled to 480p
Now you just need to add ps2, ps3, xbox (original) gcn, and dreamcast!
Look up the games on each and you can do no wrong.

My goal for the cabs isn’t to have “everything” mainly my favorite fighters and shmups. But since i set them up to accept hdmi, I can plug in essentially anything. Right now I have a pc, ps5, raspi4 with recalbox, and xbox360 for CAVE shmups.

1080P Samsung display. Hard to tell matte or glossy due to the glass cover. But if I had to guess they are glossy. Not too sure about TN or IPS but the viewing angle is solid. I’m planning on
swapping them out to 1ms LGs however.

Love that you linked all the hardware, but I don't see the amp. All the small amps I see on amazon have a lot of trash reviews. They all worry me.

@@jonyfraze I have a kraylix (another clone) and can never find a decent mini amp. Been using my screens built in speakers for years despite having speakers installed lol
By the way the amp comes with the cab along with the power supply

Quick question man. Did you have to add a step down converter to your chewlix or is was it good off the bat to just plug in and start playing?
Mine was setup for 120v
I love the dual output HDMI splitter setup for being able to have both cabs on seperate or the same game. Are these 32" monitors? Just debating what to try and buy/build for my mancave in the future since yours seem to have excellent elbow room between the two cabs

Also, have you considered using a Mister FPGA into the cab? Personally I think it offers a better experience and more accurate emulation than the pi.
And why not wire the select button to the coin slot of the cabs? It'd be cool to have deposit some actual quarters into it for a more awesome experience.
Eventually I’ll build a dedicated pc for the cabs. Good idea for the coin!

Man, mega jelly over here. Im finally thinking about ordering a rec room masters sit down since i could just use my small collection of sticks. Ive been modding/assembling fight sticks for around 4 years now but want to move to a sit down machine. What do you think is a good starting point? Im not made of money but i have around 1k budget. Could you point me in the right direction?
RecRoom Master’s is a good choice. I got one myself. Spend the money on a good 1ms 32” display to make it worth it.

I have the xtension as well. The Vewlixes just feel so much more like an actual cab where as the RecRoom feels like a piece of furniture.

the 2 pieces of wood holding your equipment on the inside, can you add more? or are you stuck with 2?
im sure you can add more. but be cautious about proper artflow and venting.

There beautiful cabinets. There full-size but sit down. The benifit is the 32” widescreen for modern games. Old arcade machines use more of a 4:3 monitor. If you plan to only play classics then that’s fine.
Vewlix are modern Japanese style cabs. Other than that it’s just a matter of preference.

While it may be the same manufacturing source, TokyoAttack has a direct relationship with the makers and have them built to his specification targeted to home users.
It is a VA panel, with 8 - 12 ms,
1ms is over rated and often lies.

Actually was in talks with Chris before I made the purchase. Unfortunately I had a big personal setback at the time and had to cancel. Since this video series, I’ve worked on a couple of genuine vewlixes for friends and I’m actually glad I got the chewlix instead as it’s much more friendly to mod, I got all new plastics instead of a used / dingy cab. I basically gutted mine and replaced everything with better parts to the exact specs I wanted (see the pt 2 to this video). But I always refer people to Chris cuz he’s the man! One day I’ll get a blast of a Astro from him.
Not my thing but i get the appeal. I prefer a standard cab with art. These feel kinda soulless to me.
Yeah you kind of have to be into fighting games to appreciate them more.
