WOW... an original Vewlix has been a dream for a long time, and that multi-game build looks SOOOO much better than the pandora's junk we're used to seeing. The cab and the car together are the holy grail. Well done, and congrats!
I've got at the time a Chewlix with no screen and no system. I've put a 32 inch screen, an amplifier for the speakers, a subwoofer, a mini pc and seimitsu joysticks and IL buttons. And it's awesome.
A few things to note about the TTX3 system and Vewlix. To get into the TTX3 boot menu you need to use the password 'opentdeg'. You can upgrade the TTX3 cpu to an i7 2600. Some have been able to upgrade the ram, but when I tried to go to 16gb I would get continuous boot loops so I stayed at the 8gb which is fine. Graphics cards you can upgrade, but I would recommend researching first on how to do it. Anything about a 760 is pretty much overkill for the Artax Multi. The Vewlix is a great cabinet to have because you can also put a regular pc in there or what I did was put my Naomi netboot system in the space down below. You can do consoles as well. The options are limitless! Retro Ralph did a fantastic job highlighting some of the things that the Vewlix can do! Also, glad to hear that I am not the only one that got suckered to buy one of these things by Scarlett Sprites lmao.
I've accepted at some point that a few of my original dedicated cabs will eventually go, be it for space, lack of use, or just simplifying on possessions. It never hurts to have a solid multicade in the event that you have to downsize. It would probably get the most total use because of selection and a favorite among guests from a practicality standpoint.
Hey Ralph! So good to see you at SFGE! Hopefully we can chat some more about getting your Vewlix upgraded and adding more games to the artax build. You should also get some Brooks universal fight boards and a KVM switch so you can run multiple consoles inside the cabinet. If you want, I can send you some pictures and video of mine.
It was awesome to meet you in person man! Thanks for coming over and talking for a bit. If you could send some pictures that would be awesome! I also sent you a friend request through Facebook as well. Here's my email for the pictures: RetroRalph1980@gmail.com
I always was interested in a viewlex but never knew how to get one. I trust your source, i hope to get one in the future when i purchase a new house with more space. I have a jr rec room masters and was excited to hear that they are back, would love to see the advancements with their cabs. I built a light gun cab with sindens but had to sell it this year for space, it was a game room solutions cab. Way too big for my space, i heard about the anniversary pandora box but didn’t know the guns were released. Just like you now im interested in emulation because of space. Looking forward to the next videos. Just thought ild add some more commentary.
I would love a Vewlix arcade cab but I think I will have to DIY myself a 2 player Vigolix arcade at home with a Pandora box dx. Can't wait to what you do next to this cab it's beautiful.
I actually looked into a Vewlix here in Australia a while back Ralph and all of the “Vewlix” machines were actually Chewlix and like you said, when sold at a high price makes them not worth it. It’s a shame most sellers, at least in Australia, seem to think the term is interchangeable.
Thanks brother, got to switch it up from time to time and with the garage being hotter than hell, I thought some emulation content would be fun. And I won't be sweating my ass off filming in the garage... haha. Thanks so much for watching!
This is so cool Ralph. I would be even better if it was a 2 player cabinet but still cool. Looking forward to more videos on this machine. I actually bought a stand alone Street Fighter 4 pc. Just need a cabinet to try it out.
I almost pulled the trigger on a Chewlix last week. They are so beautiful, just wish they were taller (I'm tall myself so knees are an issue). They also feel more realistic to game on. The biggest issue I see with home arcade setups is at home, people want to sit down, and stools are not comfortable. These solve all those issues. I was going to wire mine up to a PC for all the fightring games I bought on Steam. Still may do this.
Congrats, they're very fun in the fact you can really make it whatever you want it to be! Maybe a lower stool would help with the knee thing, I hear you there.
what i think would be awesome is having a desk/arcade hybrid where you can do your pc work swap the panel from a keyboard to an arcade joysticks. with my neo geo i was able to hook up my wii and roku on it so i could use it as a tv as well.
nice, i know Hadukken as well as Misu. They are about an hour or two drive from here. Also bought my Viewlix F and chunithm from him. Now get a 2p panel from eFighters Arcades Design
I'm hugely jealous. I've wanted one of these for a long time, but I simply don't have the space. Wish I could go back in time and tell a much younger me that I should have built a second story on our house when I had the chance. Oh well.
one of my first dates with the mrs. we went to an arcade that had one of those slim viewlix-style models (I can't recall which one specifically) which was running vanilla SF4 on the XBOX 360 on some pay-per-time kinda thing. but it was a pretty sweet unit. this thing seems super cool though all those games in one package, plus I think the bonus video stuff is kinda neat for when you're not playing on it. didn't expect fightcade support but really cool that it has it. I'm trash at fighting games but it's fun to play people online with it.
I like light gun games, Just found out about Invasion Abduction by Williams, and Carnival King by another vendor that is pretty cool. PC based is nice because you can just run 3 cables from your PC to the machine so you don't have to buy a dedicated PC.
They're part of the ARTAX TTX3 MEGA MULTI V4.1 image. Do a google search, and you should be able to find it fairly easily. Thanks so much for watching.
For all those games that may max out at 1080p/1440p (SF4/Skull Girls) for the most part you're only looking at internal resolutions of 480p/720p at most so a high refresh rate 1080p 32inch monitor or 1080p HD TV will be more that enough visual fidelity.
Can't wait to have my own cab later this month. Question about the monitor bracket by hadouken arcade. Would the brackets allow for smaller monitor to fit in the cab?
Love the vewlix cab i have one and the diamond blue looks great Nice pickup, if its the original monitor it'a a 720p screen as only the diamond black and orange come with a 1080p screen but the 720p screen is of very good quality and very low input latancy and look great.
@RetroRalph Hey do you know if you can simply connect a pc monitor via hdmi and a ps5/pc arcade stick to the Taito type x3 computer, will that work? Thank you.
Just take something shitty like an Arcade1Up and convert it to something awesome like MAME. That's what I did. I don't have the space for separate cabinets.
Stay in your lane Pinball boy, Just kidding LOL! I'm a sucker for having a million ways to do the same thing. I mean think about it, I could replace almost all my arcade games with 1 single machine... haha. But that wouldn't be much fun. Anyway, I'm just messing with you man, I hope all is well brother. Don't kill me, but I sold Foo, so I could get Godzill, I know ... I know. I don't dislike Foo but I just like Godzill more and well, I unfortunetly don't have infinate space. So Godzilla is on the way BAY BAY!!!
Would you be disappointed if your kids preferred to play games on your Vewlix instead of your dedicated cabinets? For example your X-men cabinet, Neo Geo cabinet, etc.
Yeah, I totally would, so far my son saw it and said, that looks weird and just walked away from it LOL.... so that's his response to it so far... haha. They gravitate to the original cabinets because the CRT to them is a mystical thing. I don't blame them, but I have an appreciation for playing certain games on the Vewlix. It's nothing I'm nostalgic for, but I do like having it. We will see how much play it gets in the coming months. Interesting question for sure, time will tell.
Well, I will say this, I have found that overall the cabinets seem ok because it's hot and dry in the summer (in AZ) and warm and dry in the winter (AZ). But, reproduction artwork does not like the extreme temps and I have had some CPO artwork peal up on me. As far as running them in the summer in the garage, I keep that to a minimum. I don't know this for certain but I would imagine the extreme heat could affect longevity of the electrolytic capacitors.
@@RetroRalph very well thought out and thorough answer. I really appreciate it and have learned from it. Reproduction art is on the way from SZabo now l. So I know that machine stays inside now. See you in the future.
I've played a bunch of these, but never thought to own one until this video because I'm a CRT snob. BUT this is super cool to play the newer games. Is this considered a candy cab and I've only seen 1 player control panels. Can you get a 2P control panel for these? Thanks for the rad video.
Yeah. I want to disagree on the chew/vew at the beginning Those diamonds are nice but the first versions of the chew are very robust. Metal wise. Also those vew most of the time come with older LG 720p screens, and the amp is “ok” So even getting vewlix means you rip out screen and sound. Also, using the JVS/USBIO of the Vewlix is annoying these days. Using Brook/Pico Fighting boards is going to give you a better experience on “lag” and such. The 1080p screen on that cab is nice but the ghosting is bad compared to any LCD from the past 5 years. Again. Great starting point. Congrats!
I'm only going based on my experience. I just ordered one for a friend and it was not a pleasant experience. But you're the 2nd person that told me you can get Chewlix cabs with better configurations. But you know how it goes, you're tainted by bad experiences. The market seems flooded right now with these crap screens, Pandora's Box 9D's and some terrible power supplies. So my comments were really based on what I'm seeing but the fact that there are better options out there is great to know! I appreciate the insight a lot though, that's helpful. I also appreciate you watching!
@@RetroRalph yeah so the issue is with the high demand, the new NEW chewlix look slightly different. You can’t tell the difference with the coin doors (only one big door vs 2) and the top sub panels/instruction glass is different. Those are super cheaply made. But there are 1000s of the earlier ones and those are almost identical to Vewlix. But like one if the other commenters stated the Vewlix are all used and always have the same ol’ issues of candy cabs. Smell of cigarettes. Burns. Etc. swapping out the speakers with some 3.5 Boston acoustics and nice 2:1 amp again obliterated anything Taito used. It’s a strange line you cross over. Because some are purist on the “real Vewlix” but the typex3 is just a pc. And most want to run the Artax which is again, just a front end that’s running retroarch, demul, FBNeo and others. I personally stopped using the image and now rolled my own with Launchbox/Bigbox and a Vewlix theme. Easier to add games. Same look.
Yea if you are buying the vewlix for what it is, then good. But if your intention is to rip the sh*t out of it anyway with a bunch of upgrades then get a chewy. I bought a chewy because i wanted new panels from Rafael, new sticks, new monitor, new speakers, have a super machine, ps5, roku, hooked up to it.... Have attrax image, coinops, light gun image blah blah blah... Makes no sense to do that to a Vewlix. Anyways love them both but depends on what your intentions are...
I would love to own this Viewlix instead of the Arcade1up. I don't want to own too many dedicated cabs, especially I'm tired of modding as well. The best machine I ever own is the Atgames Legends Ultimate because I can play my higher-end games through my PC. It's probably closest to the Vewlix machine.
Speaking of curved crt filters… the game Slipstream (modern retro game) has one of the best I have ever seen. Great video! The editing when you were playing street fighter was really cool. Thanks for sharing! Hey does this have Run and Gun and/or Run and Gun 2?
Did you have any lagging issues with contra evolution? I've had it on my home PC and m-cade for awhile but I'm running the exact same PC and settings on both but it runs perfect on home PC with 65' display but lags on my 20'?😳 ...I'm kinda stumped but forgot all about until this video.
@retroralph Hey Ralph great channel you have. I do have a question and hope you can help. I have recently bought a HDD from aliexpress with this taito type x3. When I plug it to my laptop it shows all folders and files however when I boot into the bios to boot from this HDD it does not show up in the list in BIOS. So my question is how do I make this hard drive bootable? Thank you l.
I been really enjoying my Viewlix F with the artax 4.1 image. Mine doesnt have the music videas/cartoons but ill live without it. Check out the ttx2 Niko multi also, I have that on a Namco Noir.
I like the look of the cabinet, only issue I see is single player control panel, unless there's a 2 player upgrade? Other than that very cool, cool addition. I'm still working on my 4 player Cabinet, 10TB hard drive and anything emulated is in there already.
From experience I would upgrade your GPU to at least a 8gig gpu for full comparability of all your games both older and newer. Plus it may provide better/newer scaling capabilities.
Hey Ralph so you are going to try your hand at making a multi with emulation software.... Curently i am doing a huge showcase with 40" PLASMA . 2 rules i am trying to implament just like a True arcade. 1# when i pull the plug on the game will it recover just like a real arcade. 2# when i flip the power on switch will the monitor auto turn on along with the Game Unit ...
And yeah, with Chewlix, you end up ripping everything out eventually., there are also inconsistencies in manufacturing. The advantage? They can still be cheaper to import and they are brand new, no cigarette marks or scratches on the plastic. But if you can get your hands on and can afford it, Vewlix all the way.
Hey Ralph, I have an arcade machine from Xtreme Arcade Cabinets, it would be nice if you can get in contact with Jasen Baker to do a review on them. They’re originally from Australia, Jasen will start working a branch at Maine. I love mine it is great, the quality is excellent, it has some metal frames around the marquee, and the screen, it makes it feel solid. Around 70,000 games. Mine has Shooting games and Sinden light guns. Be blessed brother.
I'm now seriously thinking of selling my New Net City and buying a Vewlix instead 🤔 I'm paranoid about the CRT going pop and feel one of these might be a less stressful and more versatile experience.
@@RetroRalph Yeah it is pretty nice I've got a Naomi 1 board in it with a NetDIMM, connected to a RaspberryPi running Chunksin's WiPi Netbooter (so have access to all the Naomi/Chihiro/Triforce games), I've also got a PC connected to it with GroovyMAME (with a JVS-PAC2 to interface the arcade controls to the PC) for other stuff, but it's a minor pain swapping between the Naomi and the PC, the actual PC doesn't fit in the cabinet, etc etc....first world problems...and like I said I'm worried about the CRT (or some other irreplaceable component) going bad 😔 Seems like a Vewlix might adress most of these issues.
That's cool it has all the Taito Type X 2 and 3 games, looks like a solid cabinet too. On the downside, its awfully expensive at over $2K, certainly out of my price range.
I'm using the Fast IO connection on the PC. I considered using the brooks fighting boards but I'm not sure since I don't see myself putting a console in it. You never know though. I need to cover the connection options in my next video. I was filming this so late at night I completly forgot about it. Thanks so much for watching!
Technically you can run this image on a standard PC. It's not really built to be very flexible outside the TTX3 hardware, but it can be done. They have some information on this out there if you look for it. There's also some in the FAQ that's included in the download package.
Yes it can run on a standard PC! Just look for a PC with around the same specs as the TTX3 hardware, doesn't have to be a high end pricy PC. You need to do some changes to the image for it to run on a normal PC though. But it can all be found on the WWW or YT.
Does this cabinet have alien syndrome and if so how is the emulation,? If not, wich device has really good emulation for.Alien symdrome,.donkey kong, donkey kong jr..super mario.brothers and popye
Unfortunately spinning drives are still necessary for arcades. I have 4 in mine and m. 2 and ssd drives as well. Total about 140tb. Only way to achieve this is with 22tb DISKS. Getting the same amount with ssd would take a lot of money, North of 20k... SSD are still way too small to store complete complete sets.
I think there's a disclaimer on his site that the inventory is not up-to-date, it's best to just reach out to him. He is slow in responding, but he will send you pictures of all the cabs he has in stock. He will also typically fix any potential issues before shipping them out. Just contact him through the website if you're interested, that's the best route. I'm pretty sure he's a one man show so just be patient. He's a reliable seller just not very fast about things.
@@RetroRalph Cool, I've always wanted a Vewlix but the process of acquiring one ain't user friendly. Always thought about trying to build one, but I've been through that with another cab and I'm too lazy at this point.
Bro wish you would’ve said something. Would’ve been more than happy to send you a spare cpu and gpu. Got all kinds of parts just laying around. Still after that outrun 2 though!!! Lol
Ralph, really sad with the way these videos are going. Within a couple of months this is what we’re now getting. You can tel you’re not into this kind of crap. Emulation, come on man!
I have always been into emulation. It's how I got started in the hobby back in the early 2001 timeframe. There's a place for both and with it being hot as hell right now, I can't work on restorations, so why not have some fun with emulation? I've never been someone that believes you can't have both. Sure, I personally would buy every single original arcade game if I could, but I can't. So having an emulation machine for games I can't buy or are too expensive, or I don't have the room, why not? Don't worry, I have 3 original games coming, so there will be videos on those shortly. Just because I cover a different topic doesn't mean I'm pivoting the entire channel. My passion is original arcade games and that's not changing. I hope that brings some clarity to things.
The screen is just a disgrace. Playing those games without scanlines from a proper CRT? I wouldn't want that crap if I got one for free. Watching cartoons... Really? Just get a modded xbox with KODI...
@@DrNoBrazil Well, considering I have owned hundreds of original arcade games with CRTs, having a multicade to play modern games or some classics from time to time is really not a big deal man. Its cool to have a candy cab in any collection, especially to play more Modern era fighting games that were not designed in the CRT era. Thanks for watching but calling it a “disgrace” is a little dramatic IMO.
WOW... an original Vewlix has been a dream for a long time, and that multi-game build looks SOOOO much better than the pandora's junk we're used to seeing. The cab and the car together are the holy grail. Well done, and congrats!

Those diamonds are nice but the first versions of the chew are very robust. Metal wise. Also those vew most of the time come with older LG 720p screens, and the amp is “ok”
So even getting vewlix means you rip out screen and sound.
I've had it on my home PC and m-cade for awhile but I'm running the exact same PC and settings on both but it runs perfect on home PC with 65' display but lags on my 20'?😳 ...I'm kinda stumped but forgot all about until this video.
picking up a tron and a star trek SOS friday for a song...
I've been looking for the 404 model, but I can never find it. It just can't be found.
Great video. Thanks
Yeah nothing touches the originals, but emulation will always have it's place.
Hey Ralph,
I have an arcade machine from Xtreme Arcade Cabinets, it would be nice if you can get in contact with Jasen Baker to do a review on them.
That's a sweet cabinet man, what are you currently running in it? OG PCBs or something like a MiSTer?
@@RetroRalph Yeah it is pretty nice I've got a Naomi 1 board in it with a NetDIMM, connected to a RaspberryPi running Chunksin's WiPi Netbooter (so have access to all the Naomi/Chihiro/Triforce games), I've also got a PC connected to it with GroovyMAME (with a JVS-PAC2 to interface the arcade controls to the PC) for other stuff, but it's a minor pain swapping between the Naomi and the PC, the actual PC doesn't fit in the cabinet, etc etc....first world problems...and like I said I'm worried about the CRT (or some other irreplaceable component) going bad 😔 Seems like a Vewlix might adress most of these issues.
amazingly fun machine i gotta get something like that those don’t look that big and wouldn’t take up space like other machines
That's cool it has all the Taito Type X 2 and 3 games, looks like a solid cabinet too. On the downside, its awfully expensive at over $2K, certainly out of my price range.
Very cool! I’m looking for a way to play SEGA Star Wars on a multicade! I can’t afford the original.
Cool! No second player though?
Glad you got a multicade at last. Now you don't have to build one.
Does it have Tempest and Stargate? Can you play Daytona without a steering wheel?
YO! Ralf what is this system using to interface the joysticks to PC ??? THX
I'm using the Fast IO connection on the PC. I considered using the brooks fighting boards but I'm not sure since I don't see myself putting a console in it. You never know though. I need to cover the connection options in my next video. I was filming this so late at night I completly forgot about it. Thanks so much for watching!
Any idea what emulators are running the games? And how's the latency?
Is there away of running this kind of frontend with games on a standard PC?
Technically you can run this image on a standard PC. It's not really built to be very flexible outside the TTX3 hardware, but it can be done. They have some information on this out there if you look for it. There's also some in the FAQ that's included in the download package.
Yes it can run on a standard PC! Just look for a PC with around the same specs as the TTX3 hardware, doesn't have to be a high end pricy PC. You need to do some changes to the image for it to run on a normal PC though. But it can all be found on the WWW or YT.
What front end does It uses? It looks very cool!
That thing is epic! now do I buy one or build one lol 🤔
You buy one.
I want one of these so bad
Does this cabinet have alien syndrome and if so how is the emulation,? If not, wich device has really good emulation for.Alien symdrome,.donkey kong, donkey kong jr..super mario.brothers and popye
Can i just get that front end from somewhere? And could i add steam games to it?
Where to download Artax TTX3 Multi 4.1?
Unfortunately spinning drives are still necessary for arcades. I have 4 in mine and m. 2 and ssd drives as well. Total about 140tb.
Only way to achieve this is with 22tb DISKS. Getting the same amount with ssd would take a lot of money, North of 20k...
SSD are still way too small to store complete complete sets.
How much was it if you don’t mind me asking because I’ve been interested in one for along time
Only problem is clicking on the link and seeing the Diamond Blue sold out. Womp womp.
Awesome
where can ilearn to make cades like th?
where the hell you get the funds for these? im jealous..
I'm not getting any more cabinets - Ralph Ronzio
say what now? LOL
Hello, good afternoon, can you tell me what is the password to unzip the files?
Hi new subscriber I need help I've bought a cab myself I wanna connect a ps5 or steam games do you have link for the connections I need to run it
Bro wish you would’ve said something. Would’ve been more than happy to send you a spare cpu and gpu. Got all kinds of parts just laying around. Still after that outrun 2 though!!! Lol
play some of the arika tetris games. grandmaster 3 goes hard.
Put a 3DTV in it! 😎
I'm so jealous right now 😒
Nice Video ! Sub & Big Like ! And love retro games,
wow...
Its cool to have a candy cab in any collection, especially to play more
Modern era fighting games that were not designed in the CRT era. Thanks for watching but calling it a “disgrace” is a little dramatic IMO.
I mean even the vewlix does not have great monitors.
First like!
yeah lose the LEDs... LOL
