It plays different crashes because you aren't hearing his drumming from that video. He played along with the track and turned up the drums. Maybe there was something wrong with the mixing board. Maybe he didn't feel like hooking up all his drum mics and taking the original drums out of the mix and then doing it over again. He only does two different crashes in the whole clip. Who the fuck cares, he can obviously play the song, since he wrote the drum track.

@Nameless164 I'm not really sure what you're getting at man. The video could be recorded in multiple takes, but the fact of the matter is that what you are seeing/hearing isn't true... Travis Orbin records his youtube videos (most of the time) in more than one take, but the audio/video footage is consistent... he ain't faking it.
Also, he could've recorded the video using multiple cameras, and set them up so they wouldn't capture each other in the frame.... so I don't get what your point is

WRONG! they do help you! it makes every hit sound the same in volume so you can be tapping the drumhead and it sounds like if you were hitting it hard. it is not cheating, nore does it makes you go faster, but! It helps you with the volume of the bass drum ;)

what people usualy mean is the drummer is not credited much annd is better than people think and in the case JJoy
he is overrated more or less considerd very bad but looks good cause people judge out of what ever fast beat they hear... so yes joy is overated

@GishEagle I understand that they could've set up multiple cameras, but if you look at the angles you can estimate where the cameras would be and they arent there. Also, these are guys in a death metal band. It's quite likely they can't afford to buy 4 or 5 cameras and record a drum video to perfection.

@matalhedd13 I can't think of one rap, hip hop, or R and B song that does not have harmony, a beat, or melody. You argument was just proven wrong. Thank you, but move along. You don'y like rap. Thats fine....but don't try to talk down on it without reason.

@domenmoney I'm a drummer, have been drumming for 10 years, and i have axis pedals. Pause it at 2:26 and then pause it. I dont see the red Axis text, and neither the shape that axis have just before the metal tip that drives the pedal. Sorry dude, ur wrong.

@Stormbringer81 i think its his snare, it sounds like he ghost hits it a lot, and his ability to switch to the bell on the ride for blasts gives it an awesome tone, he is a more interesting metal drummer than most

@Gigadrane Multi-camera set up. The guy was saying that hits don't match, and I'm proposing that because we can't see any extra cameras in any of the shots, they more than likely shot this in multiple takes.

@Steve128967 Oh ok I see now yeah your right. Its that usually I always see the ankles move like side to side and heels look a little more up but this dude it almost looks like the ankles arent moving lol.Its sick

@SimonVicFirth I've seen the new Mapex pedals, but I have never got around to playing them. In my experience, the new Tama Speed Cobra's or the Axis Longboards are the smoothest. If only they weren't so expensive.

@HarriboLOL Then check out Shannon Lucas, he yawns while playing like 230bpm.. Such a lovely drummer. He drums in TBDM btw.
You know what pedals he uses btw? Looks like some Kevlar-driven ones.

@GishEagle Notice the massive amount of camera angles changes, but theres not a single camera in sight? In the same manner as the song, the video was recorded in multiple takes.

if there was no triggers, it would take the editor 3000 hours of beat replacing all those kick hits. Its just a MIDI signal going into Pro Tools to signal where each kick beat is.

It’s a little blurry is there anyway to fix the video quality ? Awesome video GENESIS is my favorite album .

@SimonVicFirth Triggers are used so you can hear the hits clearly. Why have fast kick when it sounds like mush ya know? Either way, people will endlessly bitch about it.

He does what JFAC needs for a drummer, simple as that. Maybe he's as good as Marco Minnemann, you never know.

@GishEagle oh no, don't eq the drums. NEVER EQ THE DRUMS. it makes the playing fake. no one has ever eq'd drums before without making the playing fake

@JellyBird18 Also noticed that 1:46 the crash makes a china noise.
But it's pre-recorded, same with Shannon Lucas when he records for Deflorate. :)

@RayWillJohnson yeah! i know that. but with EQ you can make a real bass drum sound like this and with a good tuning apropiate for the genre of course :)
