There never have been a theme music as fitting as this to a stage. It has the dooms day feel. It has the feel of urgency as super sonic mode timer is counting down. And I am proud to be part of a generation of gamers where I discovered this zone entirely by accident. I did not know there was a super sonic mode and a hidden stage if you collected all the emeralds. I thought it was jus some silly mini game. I remembered as a kid, When I finished with the last boss of death egg zone, i placed my controller down as I expected the credit scene. Instead, I got thrown into space. Sonic turns super, and the music starts. I run back to grab my controller with this theme playing on background. That was such timeless moment that I could never recapture again.

The Giant Robot Boss was "just" a force you have to beat and we knew his Boss theme from Sonic 3, but this theme gives you the feeling that actually something else is on the line and you have to be quick about it.
i made it through S3&K without cheating.. it was hard as hell (especially the crucial special stages..i *_HATE_* them..but it's the only way to get an Emerald..) but i still kicked Eggman's ass..
This music, plus the fact it's in space, plus the circumstances, plus the fact you're super/hyper, and adding in what's on the line (even though technically the same thing has been on the line in the later games), makes this the most epic final battle in any sonic game, and that's my opinion and it can't be changed.

I remember getting Sonic 3 for my 6th birthday, like 8 days after the game came out. My parents let me stay home with my older sister instead of going with them to a concert. By the time they had come home, I had already beaten the game. So imagine my surprise when Sonic & Knuckles came out and I learned that not only did the two make a HUGE game together, but Sonic got a new transformation in Hyper Sonic. Blew my mind.
That little whistle is actually a scream he let's out before transforming but the system can't render screams by the time that game came out. A shame, if they got together with the voice actors of comics zone, they could've given that game voice acting.

Ah the memories! I always loved this theme, I really liked the fact that whenever you'd be almost out of rings the song speed would increase as it meant some kinda pressured on you.

This is one of the most epic boss themes for me on any videogame I've ever played. It gives you a sensation of despair (like you need to hurry up) at the same time that makes me feel like I'm up against a power far superior to mine. It is great for doomsday zone but I feel this fits perfectly on the Mecha Sonic fight. The beginning of the song matches perfectly to the moment that Mecha rises from the ground rushing to the Master Emerald, transforming into a super version just like Sonic. The surprise of Mecha's last resort and the fact that he can achieve a super form too becoming invincible to all your attacks was so shocking to me when I was a kid that that scene remained in my head all my life as a battle against a superior ultimate power. This is actually the first game to actually include a secret boss if you happen to obtain both the Chaos Emeralds & Super Emeralds. None of the other games following Sonic 3/S&K had that, other than the advanced series, Sonic Rush, & Sonic Colors on DS.

It's even worse when your teammates slack off on you and you either trust them (bend over and take the D/F), or bust your ass doing everybody's work for a half-decent grade.
Always do the latter, don't trust your teammates word if they began their share near the very end, even if they promise they will finish it (I did the former, and immediately regretted it.) Then make sure you tell the teacher who really did the work.

This is one of the best final boss tracks ever made!
This is one of the most epic boss themes for me on any videogame I've ever played. It gives you a sensation of despair (like you need to hurry up) at the same time that makes me feel like I'm up against a power far superior to mine. It is great for doomsday zone but I feel this fits perfectly on the Mecha Sonic fight. The beginning of the song matches perfectly to the moment that Mecha rises from the ground rushing to the Master Emerald, transforming into a super version just like Sonic. The surprise of Mecha's last resort and the fact that he can achieve a super form too becoming invincible to all your attacks was so shocking to me when I was a kid that that scene remained in my head all my life as a battle against a superior ultimate power. I miss the days that Sega managed to create such epic moments without a single dialogue box or complex voice acting...

This is actually the first game to actually include a secret boss if you happen to obtain both the Chaos Emeralds & Super Emeralds. None of the other games following Sonic 3/S&K had that, other than the advanced series, Sonic Rush, & Sonic Colors on DS.

É bem isso mesmo, mas eu também acredito que a adrenalina posta nessa música têm haver com o fato de que o Robotnik está com medo e reconhece que o poder mecânico e artificial das suas máquinas não superam a vida e os sentimentos do bem. Por isso ele tenta atrasar ao máximo o Sonic no espaço, para mostrar o contrário do que ele realmente pensa. O Robotnik, apesar de ser um gênio de um QI de 300 e um grande engenheiro, é incapaz de compreender e é ignorante em questões de reconhecer que o mal não compensa, legal o fato dos criadores terem usado um humano para ser o inimigo do ouriço, isso só mostra o quão perigoso é colocar as coisas na mão do ser humano.
Essa música passa uma adrenalina do caralho, principalmente pelo fato de que o Eggman não faz tanto esforço assim para atacar o Sonic, apenas para atrasar ele, já que o Sonic tinha praticamente virado o Hyper Sonic, ou seja, o bixo era praticamente invencível a quase tudo. Dependia apenas de anéis
