I live in Columbia and got excited and saw Charleston and still was slightly excited because there are good places there. And proceeded to get disappointed as she went to a bunch of boujee places that aren't even as good as some of the local places

You need to go to Hymans they are a family owned restaurant with many crave worthy foods. The tables have plaques that tell you if a celebrity sat in that very seat. I have lived in South Carolina my whole life and right now l am craving their shrimp and grits
As a 3rd generation local I'm so glad eveyone can come and enjoy Charleston...... Now y'all go home. The Royal tern is actually on John's Island (where I was born raised). And it is an excellent restaurant. Unfortunately we don't really consider John's Island our own anymore. It has to sucome to the invasion. Which has caused traffic beyond comprehension, real estate through the roof, and the natural beauty of the island to be replaced with cookie cutter neighborhoods , and hipster hangouts full of "open minded" trustafarians. RIP Johns Island. Say hello to South Cleveland island.

My dad got stuck on the interstate heading out from James Island to North Charleston. An hour and a half. He said it should have been about a 20-30 drive.
If you didn't know what to expect before coming to Charleston, you have never opened a travel magazine or gone to a foodie website. Charleston has been one of the "it" places for a decade.

As a teen living in Charleston , please never raise your children here. There is absolutely nothing to do for a teenager without access to a car or for younger kids to do. There is nothing walking distance no matter where you live and I was miserable. Charleston is a city aimed towards tourists and adults
Sadly I live near the Summerville area in North Charleston…. I agree with this statement and even then it’s not even travel friendly by foot here and don’t even get me started with Ashley phosphate and dorchester fucking road in the morning I’m 21 now….i need out

I remember pre Covid Charleston before the New Yorkers realized they could live in their vacation spot. They’ve literally ruined our home.
I pick oysters on Folly every winter and drive from Hollywood so I take River Road. It's so terrible now even in winter time.
