Thank you so much for sharing this. I'm a newbie and have been watching a lot of your tutorials. I actually made this yesterday and did the wet felting today. My needle felted mat is now resting on a rack sitting over a floor vent. We have freezing temperatures outside and no sunshine at all. You are a great teacher!
Thank you so much, it's lovely to make your own mat and then be able to use it for many months or years, thanks for watching and supporting the channel xx
I tried to make mine (before watching your video) ... it was a disaster! I made a huge felt ball in my washing machine!!! Now, after your video, I´m ready for my second try! It´s seems pretty easy! Thank you!!!
Thank you for sharing !! I tried this technique following your video this afternoon. it's sunny here too so hopefully by tomorrow I can see the finished product! I took into mind your review of different felting mats and modeled mine more after the wooly buddy. Again, thank you for sharing your knowledge. I've learned a lot from your videos ...looking forward to more 💕👍🪡
Thank you for your turorials ❤️ I'm wondering - How about wet felt topping, around foam mat? Should that work? I mean, it takes less wool for bigger/thicker final mat? 🤔
Omg this is so helpful! I’ve been trying to figure out if I can make my own since I don’t feel like buying one and I have a white foam mat that’s on the verge of death 😂😅
Hi Phillipa, I really want to have a go at making my own pad, can I ask where you sourced the roving tops from? I appear to be struggling to find a 'sheet' of it. Thanks for sharing this, I can't wait to get on with mine 😁
Thanks so much, I'm just developing and testing them out, I really like the colour, have to check they last and them I'll put in my etsy shop, taken me a while to find a company I like and design them but pleased so far x
@@feltsbyphilippaI finished my mat but I didn’t get a nice finished surface like yours. It looks fluffy and not smooth. Not sure I did something wrong or the quality of my wool is not that great.
Please, I would like to know if, when you work on the pad, the fibres of the pad doesn’t stuck and mix with the fibres of the figure you are making Thanks
I wouldn't, they take too long to make, it explains why the woolbuddy mats are about £20, lots of effort to make but worth it as my mat has lasted for ages x

I am very new here and have not started any project yet. I’ve been watching and saving many videos. Can hardly wait! Thank you 😊
Glad to help and hope it goes well x
That was brilliant, I will have a go never wet felted before, after watching you I feel I can do it. Thank you for sharing.
Wonderful!
Thank you Philippa, you’re a wealth of knowledge, thanks for sharing with us.
Glad you liked it, thanks so much xx

Yes, it worked so well and no washing machine, hope yours turns out OK x
Thank you for sharing , lovely tutorial very clear and easy to understand
Thank you, it was fun to make x
I *felt* that

Thanks so much, glad it helped, I thought it was alot easier than I imagined, really happy with my one and super pleased you like my channel 😀
Thankyou for this! I have been wanting a wool buddy but shipping costs to Australia are astronomical. I can't wait to make my own now yay!!
Can't believe it worked so well, just make sure you wet felt for a good 15 to 20mins, good luck x
Thank you for a great video. Have a good day and stay safe. 💜
You too, thank you so much Cindy 💗 x
Going to have a go
That's good, needs to be quite thick before you wet felt it x
Thank you for your turorials ❤️
I'm wondering - How about wet felt topping, around foam mat? Should that work? I mean, it takes less wool for bigger/thicker final mat? 🤔
I don't think it would adhere but worth a try if you felt it lots to the mat first, thanks for watching x
What a great idea! Thank you for sharing
Glad you like it x

Hi, it was Marie Redding Arts on Etsy I think, she sells them as batts, hope it comes out OK x
Love your videos
Thank you ❣️
Love ya your work is amazing just one question where u get that t shirt I need it in my life
Thanks so much, I'm just developing and testing them out, I really like the colour, have to check they last and them I'll put in my etsy shop, taken me a while to find a company I like and design them but pleased so far x
This is great!
Thanks
Great tutorial! I have small question, can you also use roving slithers or does it have to be a sheet/batt?
You can definitely use either, the batt is just a bit quicker to wrap round x
Could you use drier Clint for the inside?
That's supposed to be drier lint.
Yes definitely, people do but as it's so fine it might take a while to felt down x
This is great! I love the Woolbuddy so much, it’ll be nice to try Nanking my own.
I can't believe how easy it was x
@@feltsbyphilippa wet felting makes me nervous, but you showed that it’s not something to be afraid of. Thank you ❤️
I know the feeling, never tried it but seemed OK x
Hi phillipa loving your tutorials, how firm does the pad have to be before adding the colour roving. Thanks Lisa x
Hi Lisa, I would say fairly firm like a bagel but the wet felting really brings it all together x
@@feltsbyphilippa brilliant thankyou for your reply, I'm halfway there ❤️
Brilliant, hope it comes out okay x
Can we just use 100% merino wool or roving wool instead of the core wool in the center? Thanks
Yes, absolutely, it just a way to save money using cheaper core wool but be aware that the colours might felt through xx
@@feltsbyphilippa thank you so much

I turn my pieces regularly to help prevent this a bit but it does sometimes still happen so I use a metal lint remover to clean my mat x
Hey, could you use Marino wool on top ( not sure if if I spelt that correctly lol) x x
Yes definitely, this is similar to what I used and it's great for wet felting x
@@feltsbyphilippa Thank you so much x
Hi Phillipa where do you get your big piece of top please
Hi, it was from Etsy but about two years ago so I'm not sure where, if you search art batts similar should come up x
im going to make one
Good luck 👍
@@feltsbyphilippa Im half way its looking good!!
Glad it's going well x
Can I use quilting batting for the inside
Yes so long as it's not lumpy should be fine x
What does the wet felting do?
It matts all the wool together to form a layer, have a look at wet felting as an art, you can make fabric and bags and all sorts x
Would u consider making these to sell?
I wouldn't, they take too long to make, it explains why the woolbuddy mats are about £20, lots of effort to make but worth it as my mat has lasted for ages x
@@feltsbyphilippa ah that’s a shame thanks anyway:)
This is great!
