It is so generous of you to show us your testing of various tools. It can save the beginner a lot of time and trouble. Can hardly wait to get my pink clover.
I’m finding your videos so useful and informative Phillipa thank you. It’s always so difficult when you start a new craft to spend your money wisely on supplies and not buy unnecessary stuff. Your advice is very clear and easy to understand.
That's great, so glad you like it and I was pleased because I think a couple of these tools were very reasonable priced and worked very well, thanks so much for watching and commenting x
I've been buying my carded batts from the Felted Ewe in the US. I'm in the states and they ship super fast and I've been pleased with the quality. I would love to see you demo some of their wools!
They shipped really fast to me in the UK which was good, maybe in the future I will, always love trying out carded wools, thanks for the good report as I often get people asking where to buy in the US, thanks for watching x
Did you know that you can make a needle holder/needle handle out of felt? I made a needle felted teardrop shaped thing, I felted it it firmly, when I was done I just carefully pierced through my needles, it works very well for me and they’re very comfortable in my hands,
I have the punch tool with a blue top and you can open and replace the needles, I also have the blue tool and yes it does work better with two needles and you can change them. The punch tool is one of my favourite tools for the kind of needle felting I do. I have seen some artists using a set of long pointy tweesers to hold their work in place while using multi tools to save hands.😘
Hi Helena, that's good about being able to replace the needles, I'm glad as it makes sense. Your fingers definitely feel more vulnerable with the multi tools and the tweezers sound perfect as you can hold it and turn it, great tip, thanks so much, hope you are well, thanks for watching xx
I bought the blue pen too and couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong! So glad to see its not me! Hate wasting money on tools, thank you so much for your videos.
I use that pink plastic pen one and I LOVE it. I have it in 3 colours - I keep one with a fine needle, one with a tougher needle and the third with 3 needles in it. I always have all three ready to go. I prefer them to wood tools because the grip is better and they’re easy to clean.
I'm really enjoying it, it's excellent, wish I'd got it sooner, I can understand why you have three, great idea having all the different needles in them, thanks for sharing and watching x
@@jazz5842 I think I looked up the name of the pink one that I found on Amazon and bought directly from the company. You could always use nail polish if you can only find one colour.
I use the pink clover pen with 3 triangular needles (size 40) for quick/bulk felting, a single spiral (size 40) in a nice wooden holder for smoothing/detailing, and a gold 'crown' for fine detailing (but I tend to stick with the spiral, tbh). I have a 4-needle, protector on, tool which is rubbish for 3d but works OK for 2D. Of course you don't need a holder for a single needle, but it makes it a little more comfortable. I use 'core' wool and polyester wadding for the bulk of a project, and just wrap with coloured roving. I felt onto a brush too, which doesn't seem popular, but I love it because I can clean off any wool residue and it doesn't get punch holes and divots. I have broken a needle in the pink clover pen, but it's straightforward (a little stiff is all) to open it up and slot in a replacement needle (from a different supplier).
I have an identical blue "pen" that holds three needles. At first, I could not get the thing to unscrew. However, I tried it with a wrench and it unscrewed with no problem! It was just on too tightly. Mine was on a card like yours but is called "Unique". Try taking a wrench to it, so that you can change the needles when you want to. Thank you for your excellent videos!
Thank you so much for taking time to share these tools. It’s very helpful. I really like how you demonstrate all the tools. I can feel that you put efforts in thinking of what would be useful to know. Thank you so much.

Hello Filippa! Thanks again! I just recently got my tools and had the same noise issue with the punch tool. I also thought there was too much resistance so wanted to get a few needles out. Taking it apart I found out that the transparant protection piece can be reversed and put back. It looses it’s function, but also the noise 🥳🥳🥳. I also had to leave the spring/ suspension (what’s the english name?) out, but…. SO happy with my silent multI needle tool LOL. Mine was 7 needles btw, but I am especially happy that I can use it now and it is not a lost purchase. Hetty
Ugh the anxiety I get just watching people do multi-needles is horrible! Lol. Thank you for this, gives me a good idea on what to look for when I get around to buying. I have something similar to that first one, the punch needle one and I like using it to smooth over my animals when I’m done. It takes out the single needle marks nicely. I want that clover pen now though!
Thank you for this video! I have that first plastic multi punch tool and omg the noise drives me crazy lol. So it's not for me. I do love Clover products so I'm going to try the pen next.
The three-needle blue can be opened, you have to do a lot of force, but it opens, do not give up! :D Anyway it is very bad compared to the Clover tool. Your try using the blue one only with two needles, works better in my opinion. Greetings from Argentina! ❤
Hi philipa! Hope you are well? As you know I love watching yoyr videos, and even after I've been felting for a while, it doesnt hurt to refresh now and again! Philipa, one thing I've struggled to find out is how often should we change the needles? Do they wear out? Are they forever? Once again, thank you for your help in everything! X
Hi! Thanks for watching, so, needles can definitely last years, to be honest I am more likely to break a needle rather than replace it. Sometimes, very rarely, I have a needle that feels like it isn't working as well so I simply try a new one of the same gauge and see if it works better, good quality needles last a long time, I hope that helps xx
This pen one, the lid did not come off at all, tried with a pair of plyers, absolutely not budging but it's not the clover one so you have to be careful on Amazon. I have a clover one now and it comes off, the punch tool lid comes off easily too x
I just brought the Amazon blue pen 😭 I also brought a push tool thinking the cap could stay down I put some blue tack to keep it down and it’s working for now I’ll use hot glue eventually Edit: the blue one I brought looks the same exactly but the needles can be changed and it’s too bad !
Philippa, you have been such a huge help to me!! Love the Clover tool, also. Do you have a favorite felting mat? I need a better one! Currently using part of a cat bed I made!
Thank you for another awesome video, Philippa! Have you ever tried the Heidi Feathers multi needle tools? They are very well priced and I’m tempted to try them, but the Felted Ewe ones seems to be great too.
Yes, I have a Heidifeathers one, it's great, the felted ewe is based in the US so depends if you are over there. If you are UK I would go Heidifeathers x
Thank you so much. I just bought a wooden multi needle one and it's all one piece from wool warehouse, so totally useless! I was wondering where you old favorite two needles was bought from?

Hey there, thanks for the review! I'm thinking of buying the pink clover one, but I'm a bit apprehensive; reviews online have indicated people have problems with their needles breaking and also not being able to replace the clover needles with those of a different brand. Have you had trouble with either of these things? Thanks again!
Once I got the correct definitely clover pen it was great with 40 spiral needles and I use heidifeathers brand, no problem with fitting them in. You may struggle with the needles it's supplied with if they are large. You will feel the resistance when you felt and maybe that's why people have had broken needles x
Cmiiw, the three-needle Clover pen only comes in pink, it is made in Japan and it is excellent! The blue pen is definitely not from Clover. Btw, have you tried using the pink Clover pen with the needles from Heidi Feathers? I have some needles purchased from China, and they don’t fit. The top bended “hook” of these needles are a bit too long to fit inside the pink Clover pen. And thank you for this video!
That's good to know the pink is the safe one, the blue was such a disappointment. I haven't changed the needles yet but the tops look similar to heidifeathers so hopefully should work fine, thanks for watching and commenting 🙂 x
