He returns with passion! Passion for REVENGE!
Hoo boy, this guy in one word: Vicious. He wants you DONE. And he'll up the speed and variation of his attacks to do it! He still plays the matador having you throw an attack before retaliation of his own, but his above average attacking ability will take you for a ride, even though you're the one driving it!
You'll see in my winning run that I aim for his body for the most part. This is because I was terrified of making him lose his toupee. Turns out that he'll flip his wig regardless. And then he goes on a psycho rampage that doesn't end until he downs you! Fortunately, sorta, I was already really low on health. So it didn't really matter in the end.
This fight will keep you on your toes!
----
Go for the knockout punch! It's Punch-Out!!(!) This title is a true-to-form reimagining of the classic Punch-Out!! titles! And 60 frames per second will let you see the animation to the fullest! You've got the simple and rhythmic dodge/punch controls, your star punch, and a super-stereotypical array of contenders to bash! You can just feel the love that went into making this into a game to be cherished by the fans of the series! (It's good for newbies, too! This was my first!)
Your goal is to knock out your opponent, and to do so you need to look for openings! If you just throw punches at random they'll be blocked. In general, you'll dodge a single or series of punches and then when they're open for retribution you respond with your own! There are other methods of attack, and the game will introduce a few to you as a key method for attack, but in general it's "Dodge-punch-punch-punch"! You'll often get stars for a star punch (a more powerful attack) if you take advantage of these more secret techniques.
Oh, I almost forgot to mention! You have two ways of healing yourself! If you knock the other fella down, you can mash the punch buttons to regenerate health as long as they are on the floor. There's also the super-secret-chocolate bar! Press "-" between rounds to heal a LOT of health next round. Only can do once per match!
I played through this game once in the past using the Wii Remote/Nunchuk scheme throwing punches left and right, so this time I'll try the more classic method of the Wii Remote held sideways, buttons only.
I'll see you all in the ring! Never give up!
----
A couple technical notes:
This is being played on a Nintendo Wii U, a system backwards-compatible with Wii discs. The Wii U has the same hardware built-in as the Wii. The Wii U will automatically upscale your Wii games based on your selected resolution and output via HDMI in Progressive Scan for a clean image. - Игры

Just did some research, his black rose getup is relating to the meaning of an actual black rose. Which apparently means danger, sorrow, and obsessive love. I guess he became depressed and obsessed with fighting Mac so his love for Carmen could be realized
When he beats you, Don's rose turns from black to rose, while he yells "For Carmen!" meaning that his sorrow and obsession has disappeared. A shame that he must remain broken in the canonical ending tho lol

Definitely. Even a Deluxe would be cool. If not a deluxe, I would say have a game featuring the Super Punch-Out fighters, Kid Quick, and Pizza Pasta. That'd be really cool seeing how Quick and Pasta would work inside of the style of Punch-Out Wii.
@@MasonTheAnimator I feel like while pizza pasta would work since he's the only italian character, kid quick wouldn't work. I say this because disco kid cannonically replaced kidquick. in the game files, disco kid is even refered to as kid quick. nintendo says they're different characters, but the fact it says they're the same implies it's a replacement.

Poor Don. He's genuinely upset. He probably embarrassed himself to his lover, Carmen. A black rose does mean sorrow after all. I know how much it sucks to lose a lover.
blink twice if youre being held hostage to write this comment
im pretty sure carmen's standards are high enough to not just leave a guy just cus he had a little flub in his boxing career
88 blankets But Don doesn’t know that, though. As a Spanish stereotype, he thinks keeping his amor is about keeping her impressed, so losing a match makes him feel like he’ll lose his love.

@@elliot_rat Also, I wrote this comment on free will thanks uwu
Honestly, when I first fought this guy in Title Defense, I didn't expect much. However, what I got was a fast-paced, intense, tight, extremely fun fight. His quick punches and combos, especially the Rose Flurry, were so tight and fun to fight against. My favorite moment was in Round 3, where both of us were at low health and his toupee was off; he performed a fast Rose Flurry with five hits, each from a different direction. To my shock, I dodged the attack perfectly and used his taunt to get a star punch on him. Then I dodged a two punch combo of his, and finished him off. My brother an I were in awe. Him and Disco Kid were the only two fighters we had beaten first try in Title Defense! Overall, this fight was just awesome.
l no3w it so cool
You lost to Glass Joe?
Glass joe is pretty hard in title defense harder than disco kid
Dude Don has an infinity, even in title defence
I beat Title Defense Von Kaiser and Bear Hugger first try.

i know this isnt a rhythm game, but i feel like it would really appeal to people who like rhythm/timing based games
Not a rythm game? Really? It seemed that I had to follow the rythm of Mr.Sandman's dreamworld express. Yunno when he says "boo" I dodge between the "boo"s. Wich is great because by that way I can dodge all of them without mashing the dodge button to just dodge. Rythm is not needed to complete this game, but if you do have good rythm then you'll get a big af headstart. I got to Soda Popinski title defense in 3 days while it took 2 weeks for my friend. And it seems I'm the only pianist. Well by "I'm the only" I mean my bros (not brothers) don't play any instruments.
The game is really about understanding/memorizing the attack schemes of your opponents and timing. If you got good memory and sense of timing, you'll be alright.
@@Ken-dt9ds yup. But you gotta admit, having good timing and rythm before you even play the game gives you a GREAT AF headstart.
Did you really just make me search up rhythm heaven?
This is absolutely a rhythm game
I'm really diggin' that backhand thing Flamenco does, not gonna lie. I wonder if it's got a name...
It is a reference to bullfighting, the bullfighter usually taunts the bull, dodges his charge doing that same movement, and thrusts the poor thing with a decorated spike (banderilla). What he does, is basically the same bullfighting thing; taunt, dodge, thrust.
It is a shame that my country is so recognized for such a horrible thing, but I must admit that move is a nice touch for the character.
@@SaaScofagus Makes sense since he literally says “toro” and shouts “ole” which I’m pretty sure is associated with bullfighting.
Ole is a normal cheer like bravo
I'm pretty sure a backhand in boxing is illegal.
I think it's called a backhanded slap (which is pretty illegal in boxing)

WHAT YOU MIGHT HAVE BEEN THE FIRST PERSON TO FIND THAT EASTER EGG
I like watching gameplays like these
where the guy on the video doesn't make a perfect fight and beat the opponent on 10 seconds
Me too
am i the only one who thinks that Don flamenco is so upset over losing agaist a 17 year old that he literally became EDGY.
The word Edgy has been so overused it has lost it's meaning. Few years ago it meant being so extreme That it becomes in-context ridiculus. Now it's just... a bit grim-ish. He's a boxer, He is meant to intimidate opponents.
I thought that too!
I see what you did there... You're not the only one...Should we tell them ¿?
@@jb.drills Tell what?
D4N73 I think his clothes resembles the colors of the '"Falange" symbol in Spain... a political reactionary faction of the dictatorship of Francisco Franco in the 1930's Spain... I think that's why the word Edgy aplies...
Flamenco almost always went to decision in his rematch in the NES version. Seeing him lose by decision is kind of satisfying, hahaha
because he always waits for your punch
His face
well mario wasn't there to have hair to complement
I knocked him out seconds before the 2nd round finished. Guess I was lucky
I am in love with the sound effect that plays when Don performs most of his attacks. In case you didn't know, that is the sound of castanets. A Spanish percussion instrument used in many songs. They are also known as clackers. Love those sound effects
7:33 That Rose flurry move takes off a lot more health than I thought
4:05 playing with the music
God, I love the vibe of this fight so much. To me, it portrays this idea that Don feels absolutely humiliated by his defeat (especially if you knock his toupee off in contender mode, it comes off like Don is angry that Mac revealed his biggest shame in front of such a large crowd) and his anger is motivating him to fight Mac again as way to regain his honor and pride. I feel like if Don was Mac's age, this would be so much like a Shonen anime fight between the protagonist and his rival and I love it.
Don is not that old, he is just prematurely balding
I agree, but I think his anger is more about his Carmen. Maybe she didn't know about Don being partially bald and that was a bad way of discovering it. And also, there's the fact that there's a girl that resembles Carmen in super macho man intro in contender. I hope it isn't the case.
I just realized that pretty much all of his voice lines are more aggressive or depressing
I never knew a 23 year old that wore a toupee.
There are people with premature baldness caused by some sort of estress problems or heritage baldness its kinda regular and morenif hes a known hot figure in the boxing and spain so maybe it got sense the toupe cover
10:56 This exact same animation happened for me when I first fought this version of Don Flamenco all the way to the referee deciding on the match
Fighting him normally, this fight's a nightmare.
Knowing the combo makes the fight easier than Von Kaiser
I love don flamenco
in the mike tysons punch out he looked like adam sandler
7:44 and the crowd goes wild.
EZ-KO: when you stun him, you can infinitely hit him.
U need to time it
Yep, and it's hilarious.
Its very ez
@@hydrofiber I don't find it is but I have been playing this since I was 7
@@hydrofiber for Contender, it’s a jab, then a hook in the opposite direction, repeated. In Title Defense, it’s 2 jabs and a hook repeated, always alternating between left and right punches.
His infinite can be hard to sustain for some newcomers, but once you play for long enough, it becomes muscle memory. The way I do it is to listen to his feet hitting the ground after every punch. Once you hear them, immediately throw the next punch. I find that I punch too late more often than too early (if it’s late he’ll block, if it’s early you’ll just miss), so try to throw the punch as SOON as you hear it. I recommend watching a video of the infinite, and learning from that. Other than that, good luck on it!
He must be in Ultimate because he too has an edge skin lol
It's neat seeing someone actively improving in real-time
My favourite move in this game is Don’s spinning hook.
I remember my high school Spanish teacher always said stuff like “vamos aqi” and “olé”. It was such a long time ago, but this fight always reminded me of that!
Fun fact: Don Flamenco's VA also voiced Shadow in Sonic X (Spain dub)
that explains don flamenco’s title defense colour scheme
El mejor personaje español con estereotipos que no me ofende por ser español.
Concuerdo pero soy de latam y nosotros somos King hippo XD

yes he is
Aside from the backhand, which isn't allowed
His losing animation in the menu is kinda sad...

Thank you for uploading a video of fighting Don without the infinite combo
If I ever play punch out, I wouldn’t mind ending my career with a loss to Don Flamenco. He seems like a friendly contender.
Yeah he's probably the one that respects and enjoys fighting you the most. This is clear from how he talks, he says things like "well done" or "well seen" when you dodge a punch and encourages Mac by saying "perfect" when you get up from a KO
@@giuseppemazzini5915 or when he says "you got me there"
I usually lose to Joe if I have the chance.
@@giuseppemazzini5915 yup, but he could also be saying that to mock little mac. As he taunts a lot for him to give the first fist. Anyways, I really like this character, is nice to have this stereotyped characters that yet have so much personality. Even if people say it's racist

I love how they did don in the Wii version as in the nes version he he just kinda sits there and in his second fight he's more of an annoyance if anything but in this one he's a smart classy boxer I also love how when Mac doges one of his punches he says "well seen" or "well played" and that whenever he knocks Mac down he says "had enough?" And laughs also that music is just impeccable su perfecto
I love how DK is just lurking in the corner
The theme that plays in the background makes the fight even more better
Imagine if he was still Adam Sandler like in NES Punch-Out.
I actually love this video, where you are not perfect but getting better and better, and in the end you still a winner! Great video!

Don Flamenco is pissed.
I like this rematch, it's nice paced and fun.
Yeah me too. Especially when you know the infinite combo trick
Uh Fred I ate all the Chicken

Don Flamenco listened to Hollywood Undead once and that’s why he became emo
Is it just me or does he look badass when he says “Venga, venga. Qué pasa quieres más?
Well, idk what "Venga" means, but I think "Que pasa, quieres mas" roughly means "What's wrong? Want more?" As he says that when mac is getting up
Come. Come. What’s wrong? You want more?

Just noticed that Don Flamenco is using backfists and even knocks Mac two times down ...
I remember beating him on td for the first time. I couldn't do it at first and I would restart the fight before round 3 ended because I didn't want to win by decision. Now I can beat him consistently but he's pretty hard without the infinite combo.
That hòle punch messed you up so many times.
He could have ducked those flurries too. I can understand if it were part of a no ducking challenge though...
Best judge ever! (Look at the end)
Has anyone ever questioned that little mac not only joined boxing, defeated the whole roster of opponents, becamse world champ and retired in one year, but also is 5'7 buff as hell and weighs 107 pounds somehow? Even I weigh 120 and Im 5'5.
Don Flamenco used a Muay thai elbow move!
yes don flamenco casi matas a little mac
0:34, WOW. Don Flamenco is behaving like his nemesis, Bald Bull here.
I think Bald Bull, is the nemesis of Don Flamenco, because he actually defeated him before, but since he was defeated by Super macho man, he was moved to the Major Circuit, but still the champion from that circuit.
I feel like when he knocked off the toupee he just let Don knock him down so he didn't have to deal with the speed of dons punches
