Super Macho Man wants his ridiculous life back; let's be sure he releases the bogus rather than his FIST into Mac's FACE!
Wooo-wheee that was hard! Mr. Macho Man! Dang man! I tried many many times. That hang ten is nasty, and slip up on any of his other techniques and you're done for! They take a TON of damage! Then he's got that wonderfully horrific Super Macho Man Triple Spinning Clothesline! You can't hold your ducks and if you time your three ducks all regular-like he WILL smash your face in. You've got to time the first duck oddly early to escape it! Totally unintuitive.

Go for the knockout punch! It's Punch-Out!!(!) This title is a true-to-form reimagining of the classic Punch-Out!! titles! And 60 frames per second will let you see the animation to the fullest! You've got the simple and rhythmic dodge/punch controls, your star punch, and a super-stereotypical array of contenders to bash! You can just feel the love that went into making this into a game to be cherished by the fans of the series! (It's good for newbies, too! This was my first!)
Your goal is to knock out your opponent, and to do so you need to look for openings! If you just throw punches at random they'll be blocked. In general, you'll dodge a single or series of punches and then when they're open for retribution you respond with your own! There are other methods of attack, and the game will introduce a few to you as a key method for attack, but in general it's "Dodge-punch-punch-punch"! You'll often get stars for a star punch (a more powerful attack) if you take advantage of these more secret techniques.
Oh, I almost forgot to mention! You have two ways of healing yourself! If you knock the other fella down, you can mash the punch buttons to regenerate health as long as they are on the floor. There's also the super-secret-chocolate bar! Press "-" between rounds to heal a LOT of health next round. Only can do once per match!
I played through this game once in the past using the Wii Remote/Nunchuk scheme throwing punches left and right, so this time I'll try the more classic method of the Wii Remote held sideways, buttons only.

A couple technical notes:
This is being played on a Nintendo Wii U, a system backwards-compatible with Wii discs. The Wii U has the same hardware built-in as the Wii. The Wii U will automatically upscale your Wii games based on your selected resolution and output via HDMI in Progressive Scan for a clean image.

You know what? I feel like Super Macho Man has changed the least of all the fighters.
Glass Joe has his helmet, Von Kaiser got a haircut and a new one-hit knockdown move, Disco Kid learned boxercise, Great Tiger gets the elements of the earth, Bald Bull becomes an immovable wall (save for star punches), etc, etc. But Macho Man? Just a few new moves, a slightly darker speedo, and can release bogus. That's it. And honestly, that lends itself really well to his vain nature.
eh, I always through Von Kaiser changed the least. His change is barely noticeable unless you're looking for it, and all that really happened is like 1 or 2 new moves and being faster. Macho man became faster, and got several new moves.
@@jackmartin6502 but Von Kaiser learned how to dodge and make fake attacks. He changed the most in my opinion, in contender mode he was crybaby but in Title Defense he became at least good fighter

i adore how in this title defense fight, his emotion is visibly angry, as compared to the contender fight, where he looks way more neutral. its the little things like that which really complete the feel of this game.

Almost the perfect remake. Game had so much personality! I wish they would have added all of the old punch out characters. Other than that, I still have a great time playing this!
