I remember that back in the 90's were too much speculated that the Bruiser brothers were aliens due to the metrics, the strange feet and unknown origin/age.
Hoy Quarlow is easy once you get the pattern down. Rick Bruiser is by far the worst opponent. The move where he immobilizes you followed by an auto-KD is obnoxious because you have to be PERFECT in order to dodge it.
Finally got a chance to watch this from start to finish. Great stuff man! It's gonna be extremely difficult to compare to those splits from now on. Congrats again on the record 😄
Ive seen people beat this game blindfolded... on a charity live stream... in a race. Honestly I have no illusions anymore regarding my videogame prowess in punch-out or super punch-out ;__;

I never had the chance to beat this game before so it was nice seeing Bob Charlie say that we should have fun one more time since he was always the boxer I had the most fun fighting against.
This game definitely makes the fight a lot more fair. They allow you to throw infinite hooks and uppercuts as long as your meter is full, and you can block hooks.
I remember being ridiculously good at this game back in the day..or thought I was lol. Got my old snes out to compare scores, I only got close with Piston Hurricane with 0’6”24. Everyone else was under 30 or 40 seconds though. Guess I better brush up and try my hand at speedrunning!
I did Piston hurricane in 13s before, still nowhere as good as 6s. Update: I got 5 seconds on Piston Hurricane, 9 seconds on nick, and 22 seconds on Sandman. Narcis was 20s. Heike was around 10. Mad Clown was around 15. Rick was nearly 15 in practice. Masked Muscle was quick. Aran was a little quick. Bob was fairly fast. Dragon Chan was nearly 20. Macho wasn’t easy though.
Good reality check here, I beat Nick in under a minute so I googled Punch Out world records with a glimmer of confidence in my eyes and this dude passed the game that quick. LMFAO

For those confused, the video is 20 minutes long while the finalized time is 2:46, this is because the only real thing that counts during fights is the in-game timer, so a lot of time doesn’t add to the finalized time.
I've been playing this game every so often since it first came out. One thing I can clearly remember happening years ago but have not been able to replicate is a "double knockdown" Sometimes it is possible for both you and your opponent to land a punch on each other at the same time. If this happens when you both are only one hit away from being knocked down it triggers some kind of draw animation. The only time I can recall it happening is on Mad Clown. Like I said it was years ago back in the 90s when it happened but I clearly remember it because I didn't even know it was possible. I would love to see somebody be able to do it on at least one character. I've tried a few times before but was unsuccessful. I would assume each character has their own animation for when it happens but Mad Clown is the only one I've ever seen. Have you ever experienced this "double knockdown" before or know anybody who has? I might have to fire up the game after typing this and see if I can get it to happen. I suppose I'll try it on Mad Clown since I know for sure it is possible with him.
A friend once told me that he was able to double knockdown while playing. Didn't tell me who it was but he said a special animation played. I never believed him but seeing your comment makes me think it was true.

Ive played this game since its release as a kid. I saw three things in this video I had never seen. 1. Super Macho Man dizzy sequence. 2. Nacissist Prince fall back down on the count and 3. Nick Bruiser knockout. Wow. This game was so great and had so much replay value.

Anybody notice this detail? Narcis Prince’s quote is “I will not let you touch my beautiful, beautiful face.” And His name literally has “Narcis” in it indicating that he’s a narcissist. I’ve met people from England before and most of them have the biggest mouths, so that’s how this game is basically stereotyping English people.
This whole game series is full of stereotypes my guy, since the arcade game.
