Spent various nights up to beat it quickly, and now I absolutely love watching speedruns on both this and Punch Out for Wii

Kepabra dizzying gabby jay is actually really easy. All you really have to do is punch him when the guard is low with the right jab repeatedly. And upper cut him when you can (upward super punch).
Blind dude here. When you look at punchout as a patterns and timing based game rather than a boxing game, you kinda go from there. Never finished this game completely tho, only got to the last circuit, and NES punchout, forget about it. Lol... Ended up doing music, producing and DJing before I could figure out how to beat those games.
Thanks to GDQ, now after 26 years I finally learned that left punch and right punch have different speeds. That should be one of the most basic things to notice but I never did xD

According to a Pastebin he posted, Zallard uses a later 1CHIP SNES--which generally has higher quality video compared to the "2CHIP" consoles, but incorrect colors--with a mod to fix the overblown colors. I'm assuming Hootey is using a 1CHIP without the color fix
I've seen a bunch of these SPO speed runs and one thing I've seen that the runner always does is pause the Gabby Jay fight. What is the reason for doing this?
when counter punching, the KO meter fills quite a bit, but it takes a moment. while paused, the KO meter still fills from the counter punch, while if you had not paused, jay would throw another punch before your KO meter filled.

I definitely want to work on a tutorial eventually, I just keep getting caught up in stuff, and it gets kind of hard to set aside the time needed to do a tutorial that's at the quality I'd want it to be at.

So had that second difference, I'm sure they would have both agreed that whoever *actually* had the wining time would be the winner. But in the meantime just amazed that in such a game with such rng while playing blind, that it was so close. I don't really see that much "smack talk" amongst speedrunners. They all seem to just admire the skills each one has, and "hey if your times match mine then hello brother" kind of thing. I mean yeah, there are of course assholes in all groups, but it's not like in boxing/mma where the crowd *expects* you two to hate each other kind of thing.
