Hazard Pay 35 what about PO Wii where he was fighting TD Don and he was about to counter until his wiimote was disconnecting but it did counter when he got back
Fun fact: Haike Kagero can actually be KO'd, but it's an extremely rare and hard to pull off tactique because he dodges and blocks randomly, if I'm right, you have to knock him down with a fast special before reaching the 8 second mark Narcis Prince can also be knocked out in his ''calm'' phase as well, and has a different animation set for that kind of case scenario
Yep, one shot. Factoring in RNG that doesn't go your way (such as for Bob Charlie and Super Macho Man) or errors in execution (Most obviously Piston Hurricane, and to a lesser extent Rick Bruiser), 25-minute estimate accounts for a lot of things possibly going wrong.
I like his explanation of guard manipulation. I like to call it “flicking” because if you use an analogue stick, like I do sometimes when playing, then you can just flick it up and let go, like holding Up Arrow then not holding any arrows. I normally do this to manipulate their guard so I can do Super Punches.
Damn, I just got this game again and remember as a kid trying to do the strategies from Nintendo Power to do fast KOs. I now suck at it after watching this but it's a lot of fun trying to learn to top my own times.
damn, here I was state saving every 15 seconds and (btw the only way I ever knew the bruisers existed was because of state saving) you knock them out in less than 30 seconds...... youre a beast dude gjob!!!!
Herman Martinez Hoy Quarlow, Super Macho Man, and Mad Clown are the hardest in the game. The Bruiser brothers are hard, but their patterns are easy to pick up after a few tries.
Missing that Piston Hurricane KO ouch. Feels nice to see it being used as a legitimate speed run strat though, been doing that since this game first came out.
Oh god i forgot just how much fun this game is. Man i love my SNES and i don't think i could ever sell it, unlike other consoles the SNES has been a ever present in my life..Well in my cupboard..i can't part with it, it would be like selling someone my teenage years!
I still have mine in its original packaging sitting around 40 feet from where I sit at this moment, right next to a box full of games. I won't ever sell it, too many good memories (and not-so-good as well), and too many good games. Love me some SNES.
On Piston Hurricane, I used 4 head punches, then 2 gut punches, then another head punch, he'll go into dizzy, and I defeated him in 5.7 seconds. I saw it done on a TAS run in 5.4.
This games takes a while to learn if no one tells u the tricks. My cousin and i first started smashing buttons nonstop, then dodged and hit, then learned about counters and how to KO (not TKO).
Yeah, before really paying attention to speed tactics, I do occasionally get a dizzy in the case of being allowed to get a long string of hits from a Rapid Punch sequence, but the best way to dizzy an opponent is through counter hits. The standard dodge and counter gives the opponent a bit of time to recover.
Damn and I thought I had gotten this game down pretty well XD even taking strictly my best individual records, not my best runs through, i'm still down 2 minutes, due in large part of my lack of ability for the first bruiser brother (about 40 seconds faster than my best attempt was otherwise like 2-7 second difference on most of the fights) very nice run!
The version used for the main character in this game is not Little Mac. This FACT has been confirmed by many developers of punch out (WII) . Plus his hair color is much different than Little Mac’s hair. And his face shape is also different EDIT: my name for this character is Little Gary.
You know, everytime I see the boxing segment of the broadway musical version of "Rocky", and is reminded of games like Punch-Out & Ready 2 Rumble Boxing, it kind of made me have an idea for a Pro Wrestling show but replace the wresting with Boxing, and it would have over the top characters like in those two games hell I even imagined the new Nintendo Land they're building in Universal Orlando having a boxing show featuring the fighters from punch-out, and I thought Ready 2 Rumble was going to have it's own Comedy Central Series that's in their sports category along with Battlebots & I know it would be hard to do since boxing can get you really hurt from it and it's hard to imitate it, but it's just an idea, since those two games have so many cartoony & gimmicky boxers in their lineup, but what do you think?
True story - as a kid I was playing Super Punchout back in '95 or so w/ the associated Nintendo Power issue with strategies to beat everybody quickly. The NP strategy says their record was putting him down in 16.67 seconds. I tried to follow the instructions and screwed it up but then he didn't get back up after one knockdown, and my possibly faulty memory says I knocked him out in less than 10 seconds. What I'm sure of is I beat him in faster than 16.67 seconds and this is before people could just share their speed runs on the internet, so I was pretty stoked that I was beating the (now obviously unimpressive) NP time I don't know how I did it, but I must have got pretty close to 9 seconds based on pure accident. Don't ask me to repeat it, I'm not a boss like zallard1. Its more of a "i accidentally hit the right buttons and he went down and I got a really good time." Does anybody know what the actual minimum possible time to beat Nick Bruiser is?
My cousin could get him in the 10sec mark, I scored an emulator and been heckling him to come over for some beers to see who is Really the champ of SPO! I've heard they all can be beat in less than 10, and if my memory serves correct Macho Can be KO'd Is there a curve in emulators?
>The person he’s playing is little mac you idiot No, it isn't, dumbass. I'll repeat, given that you clearly don't read so well: There is no "Little Mac" in this game. Is that clear, Special Ed?
It looks like World Record is about 15:29 according to the SpeedDemosArchive, if you time it to the times on this video, from Minor Circuit Select to last guy KO.
My first play through wasn’t very good of this game, I got beat a lot by most of the different characters and at the time was stuck on mad clown, I then go to my friends to play it and beat every single character on my first to third try and got to narcist, now I’m on ricc
"I accidentally did a frame perfect counter" -zallard1
Still his greatest moment.
Haha that was good
+Hazard Pay 35 I like the Bald bull rematch from the Punch out wii run.
which time?
Where did you get that profile pic, link please and thank you
Hazard Pay 35 what about PO Wii where he was fighting TD Don and he was about to counter until his wiimote was disconnecting but it did counter when he got back
Bear Hugger: I’ve heard someone can beat me in 17 seconds.
zallard1: I did it in 13.
Unknown Unown hold my beer 🍺
I did it in 50
So what? I actually beat him in 17'00 and it unlocks a new dialogue after you beat nick
Patrick: He can do it in 9!
I beat him in 21 seconds
“10 second Hoy is unheard of”. You gotta love that Super Punch Out professional language
Favorite line is in round one of that fight. "Hoy made poor choices."
2 second phase 2
The world record is 8.84
Fun fact: Haike Kagero can actually be KO'd, but it's an extremely rare and hard to pull off tactique because he dodges and blocks randomly, if I'm right, you have to knock him down with a fast special before reaching the 8 second mark

haike is the second worst. i still have nightmares.
Sourcy hi
I know a lot of people are saying that other people played this game faster, but zallard has had faster runs. It's just that this one was live
Wow he obliterated Nick Bruiser and made it look easy. Those counter punches at the beginning of the fight are so difficult.
20:31 "SHOW ME YA MOVES"
*Favorite parts were vs the Bruiser brothers* ✅🙂
And there the easiest to me the game changers are super punches
"PIZZA CAKE!"
-Little Mac after every fight you don't get knocked down in
+RetroGamerPanda yes I was being funny because although he said piece of cake it sounds like pizza cake
And sometimes he says his favorite pokemon Rhydon after he wins a title.
I don't think it's little Mac in this game
If he gets knocked down and win he says GOTTEM HA GOTTEM
ChairForceOne that’s not Mac
do you think if rick and nick had to drive each other somewhere rick would make a joke about cruising for a bruising
maybe

It doesn't matter how many times I see Zallard decimate the Punch Out games. It's always super entertaining every time. Dude is a goddamn wizard.
Imagine if someone was this good at real boxing.
Prime Mike Tyson
This is one of my favorite runs of all time -- its perfection
It took me 23 years to beat hoy quarlow and this man beat him in 10 seconds. 😐
Watching people speedrun this shit is magical

Damn, I just got this game again and remember as a kid trying to do the strategies from Nintendo Power to do fast KOs. I now suck at it after watching this but it's a lot of fun trying to learn to top my own times.

Watching this makes me realize I suck at punch out lol
Mad clown was the very first video game character that made me want to smash my controller.
I just started playing it again and finally beat Hoy Quarlow my first time. That's the hardest fight for me in the game.
Mad Clown was the first video game character that my older brother never beat that I eventually did. I knew that I surpassed his skills that day...
Herman Martinez Hoy Quarlow, Super Macho Man, and Mad Clown are the hardest in the game. The Bruiser brothers are hard, but their patterns are easy to pick up after a few tries.
i literally cant beat him because my emoulator will crssh after the second brain squash
Webes Gaming It happens to me too! You just need to get hit my dude
Run begins @ 4:50
Thank you
I really love watching you guys in action. Definitely might have to watch SGDQ 17!
I wish I had the kind of time required to learn games this well.
SNES games overall are still the best ever made! Oh that's a pretty small loveseat for 3 people!
Oh boy wait until you play the wii
this game is so much harder than it looks, I couldn’t even beat piston hurricane
I remember watching zallard speedrun super punch out blindfolded.
Legit KO on nick bruiser... just absolutely beautiful to see. Wow!
Funny thing, Nick Bruiser maybe strong and all but his AI is very weak.
The one guy on the couch has zero room, the middle guy takes all the room lol
mtrom30 Lol! what an asshole
I always sit in the middle. Even when there's just two of us in a car.
Zack you are a Monster. I enjoyed the vid. You made it look easy.
every since i watched the blind fold run, nothing amazes me for SPO runs
This is the most Snes, Snes music has ever sounded.
>Starts talking about how bad Hoy's RNG is
>Zallard immediately gets perfect Phase 2 and 3 RNG

What are y'all doing? Games are meant to be played! Hook those bad boys up!
Really hope this game comes to Switch now that Super Nintendo games are on it. And maybe a new Punch-Out as well?
On Piston Hurricane, I used 4 head punches, then 2 gut punches, then another head punch, he'll go into dizzy, and I defeated him in 5.7 seconds. I saw it done on a TAS run in 5.4.
The best run. 10 minutes under the estimate
Hail to the KING, that player is a badass, never seen anyone knock out Nick Bruiser, that is truly unheard of
Excellent video with commentary
Damn. The only one of these I was able to naturally figure out how to do was Piston Hurricane. Life before the internet was a beautiful time.
This games takes a while to learn if no one tells u the tricks. My cousin and i first started smashing buttons nonstop, then dodged and hit, then learned about counters and how to KO (not TKO).
Best Mad Clown I've ever seen.
And thank you for posting,
Love this game!
The joke about Gabby Jay being 56 years old becomes less funny to me with every passing year. Oh well, there's always Hoy Quarlow.
I got my ass kicked by Mr Sandman last night on the SNES Virtual console on Switch... and this guy beats him in 13 seconds
Avoid the dreamland express
Id love to see the creators of these games give commentary on the speed runs.
This man still is a god among speedrunners :) I hope he is doing well
Damn, I thought i was pretty fucking good at this game until today......Macho-man in under 30 seconds???????!!!!!! Jesus Christ this guy is good.
I beat Macho in around 10 XD
+Robert Earp lie
Kevin Lombardo, Jr
no really, zallard1 botched it, normally you can beat him super fast
Not so much botched as the AI boned him with exercise program C in phase 2.
Incredible Luck Zallard
Great video! Subbed!
It takes me a solid 2 and a half minutes per fight, except for Gabby Jay
that moment when Mad Clown steps up and smack the piss outta you tho
12:25 lol they punched each other at the same time... I don't think I've ever seen that in super punch out
He named himself Saitama...
*ONE PUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNCH*
really?
JohnP514 really
German Gamer HEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
popplethefalafel Then he renamed himself can't beat Goku
It was voted on by donors. They usually crowdsource character names.
Are the other 2 on the couch there to keep the middle guy warm? cause the guy on the right , just looks so comfortable !
Amazing run bro. Better luck next time on macho!
Punch Out is the best game made in Canada.
His "YESSS!" sounded like Captain Falcon...lol
Huh, beat this whole game a few times and never knew dizzy was a thing.
I think i was good in Super Punch Out,defeating Piston in 10.11 seconds.
Then i see Nick Bruiser actually can be defeated with a KO.
4:52 is when the run starts
I’ve never seen someone KO and not TKO Nick Bruiser.
Joshua Woodring I got gabby jay down in like 8 seconds what was your time( I just started playing
Narcis gives me a rich kid in a cartoon vibe
Did anyone notice the Rick Bruiser knockdown at 07.77?

I remember when I was younger I somehow beat Piston Hurricane in 10 seconds. A fluke no doubt lol
blindfolded run was far more heroic though :D
I'm trying to string together the lefts with Gabby Jay and he always blocks
Alejandro Garriga u need to manipulate his guard by at first keeping yours down and he will copy
Great commentary here.

There is no "Little Mac" in this game. Little Mac is the 2' 6", 25-pound midget from Mike Tyson's Punch-Out (NES).
MaximRecoil your a bit of a thick child aren’t you
The person he’s playing is little mac you idiot
Your non sequitur is dismissed, dipshit, and why did you reply to my post twice?
>The person he’s playing is little mac you idiot
No, it isn't, dumbass. I'll repeat, given that you clearly don't read so well: There is no "Little Mac" in this game. Is that clear, Special Ed?
Can you prove the character in this game isn’t little Mac?
Zallard you legend
Wow 😮 amazing job man 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I don't think he knows what a rabbit punch is.
20:30 YES!!!!

+C-c-c-ombo Breaker! you have to watch the video where he beats it blindfolded

I feel so stupid. I didn't even watch this when it came out because I thought it was Punch-Out!!! on the Wii for some stupid reason XD.
My one pal saw Macho swing like over 30 times on him in the original this was like 2005 wish we recorded it
Is is me or is heike kagero flying and hitting his head on the side of the ring the funniest thing ever
Mad Clown looks like he has the same sprites as Bear Hugger but edited.
Yea, is just a reeskin
If we ever get a new PunchOut I want some of the guys from this game to come back.
Facts, I want Rick Bruiser, Narcis Prince, Kid Quick and Bob Charlie to return.
You make it look easy
Coming here 4 years later after I beat the game myself, and yeah, zallard still makes this look easy
it's sad how this is nothing in comparison with his agdq 2014 run
Imagine being someone like Nick Bruiser and being humbled like that!
great play !
I mean, although he missed the dizzy chance on Piston, at least he got him in a short amount of time
It took me 5 years to do what this guy did in 15 minutes. Wow.
It's hard to play it "normal" again waiting for the CPU to attack when you watch this...
Seth MacFarlane on commentary!
Dude everybody lookin like Seth these days lol
