In Japanese sports events such as this, it’s actually customary to look your opponent in the eye while bowing when you’re in very close proximity. Partially for the reason of - they can literally just punch you as hard as they can if they were an asshole. If you were on opposite sides of the ring, or the fight hasn’t started as we saw in his intro cutscene, you would bow without looking them in the eye. Pistol Honda is as traditional as they get!

If I recall, the "mother's milk" line is used colloquially as "you have the strength of a child, and should eat like one". It doesn't make a lot of sense in English, but in many nations adults don't consume a lot of milk (Outside of used in recipes sometimes), and it's treated as baby food. Which, on a purely technical level in nature, they're not wrong.

It's clearly just a phrase of encouragement. the Military has TONS of them, they're shouted to get the soldiers psyched up for battle or a tough undertaking. The reason why "Von Kaiser" says Combat Boots is because he is "Marching into Battle". It doesn't make much sense regardless if you are a German native or English speaker but the developers wanted a PC way to say "Blitzkrieg" or "Stürmen".

German military combat boots are famous for excellent quality and a lot of German soldiers define prestige and discipline over the shape and model of the combat boots they are wearing. *Literally you spend about 1/4 of your base military training in germany cleaning your boots!* - especially infantry units need to have shiny boots even when having an inspection in the middle of a combat training... ridiculous, but no joke! So the reason for this battle cry is most likely just the pure pride for having nice and clean high value combat boots.

It refers to a practice we call "Kaffee und Kuchen" which means having coffee and cake with your relatives or friends. Older people love it and talk for a million hours and younger people are mostly bored when the relatives won't shut up about stuff that you weren't alive for. It can take from 5 to a billion hours and don't believe your mom when she says they're wrapping up. That's code for another hour at least :)

It’s a minor thing but Piston Hondo isn’t saying “Oh, sushi,” he’s just saying “Sushi.” In Japanese the “O” is a sound often put in front of words that pertain to daily life. So for food, it’s stuff like sushi (which becomes Osushi) or rice (which is Han, but becomes gOhan). So you can say osushi or sushi in japanese, and both just mean sushi. Hope this helps!

In my karate classes, we were always told to look at our opponent as we bowed. From what i was told, its to avoid the risk of a sneak attack because you can now see your opponent instead of the floor, which if its true is ironic in hondos case as thats how you get a star off of him

It’s a nod to samurais in history. Simply put honor was something that was so out of character it’s hilariously baffling how it got attributed to them. Traditional bowing was a good way to get your head cut off by samurai so people looked up to be sure they weren’t essentially committing suicide because of their good manners.
He only looks up in Title Defense. In Contender, he bows facing down every time, and you can get a star for punching him when he does. In Title Defense, he realizes that YOU’RE the unsportsmanlike bastard, so he looks up at you when he bows so that you can’t sneak attack him like an asshole.
Pretty amazing that it still looks good today. Also your Hindi translations are spot on. To give context to the last one (the questionable one), it is a pretty common line they speak to taunt during fights (since ages).

Yeah, it's kind of clear from the comments and how people make fun of him saying "COMBAT BOOTS" none of these guys have ever heard of the military... It's clearly just a phrase of encouragement. the Military has TONS of them, they're shouted to get the soldiers psyched up for battle or a tough undertaking. Like watch the Air assault trianing video where everyone screams "AIR ASSAULT!" He's basically just saying "BOOTS ON THE GROUND!" or "READY FOR COMBAT!" in a word.

The reason why "Von Kaiser" says Combat Boots is because he is "Marching into Battle". It doesn't make much sense regardless if you are a German native or English speaker but the developers wanted a PC way to say "Blitzkrieg" or "Stürmen".

German military combat boots are famous for excellent quality and a lot of German soldiers define prestige and discipline over the shape and model of the combat boots they are wearing.
*Literally you spend about 1/4 of your base military training in germany cleaning your boots!* - especially infantry units need to have shiny boots even when having an inspection in the middle of a combat training... ridiculous, but no joke!
So the reason for this battle cry is most likely just the pure pride for having nice and clean high value combat boots.

Edit: "Tantenkaffee" refers to coffee with your aunt, not tea. It refers to a practice we call "Kaffee und Kuchen" which means having coffee and cake with your relatives or friends. the title defense version of glass joe is actually really hard if you get him in macs last stand. At the part of the game you are going to be used to fighting insanely fast opponents but glass joe is very very slow and he uses that as a weapon.

It’s a minor thing but Piston Hondo isn’t saying “Oh, sushi,” he’s just saying “Sushi.” In Japanese the “O” is a sound often put in front of words that pertain to daily life. So for food, it’s stuff like sushi (which becomes Osushi) or rice (which is Han, but becomes gOhan). So you can say osushi or sushi in japanese, and both just mean sushi. Hope this helps!

It’s a nod to samurais in history. Simply put honor was something that was so out of character it’s hilariously baffling how it got attributed to them.
