Actually, in the official Punch-Out!! wiki, King Hippo is from a fictional island in the South Pacific. It's called Hippo Island and it's believed that King Hippo is most likely an important figure on the island
Right, considering Bear Hugger's trainer is a bear, that either means that Bear Hugger trained the bear to train him, which would be pointless, or that the bear knew the rules of boxing already.
One neat detail from TD Great Tiger's intro is that in the final frame, each glow around a clone/himself matches the colour of the same attack he uses after the gem flashes. The clones show the attacks before or after they are used. From left to right: Blue - His uppercut from your right after striking White - His earclap prior to striking Red - His jab after striking Green - His delayed uppercut from your left after striking
And everyone gets a stereotype. Regardless of country, and it's equally offensive for everyone, including bear hugger despite a Canadian studio developing the game. That's unironically true equality
I didn't notice before but in Mr. Sandman's first cutscene the shots of him beating the last four sequentially show his fist moving a little further as if it was the same punch taking out 4 guys. It's like 1 punch took out the rest of the world circuit!
So in TD... Glass Joe: Has brain damage & wears a helmet into the next battle Von Kaiser: Gets mad that little Mac won & shaves his hair. Disco kid: Discovers boxercise & takes an advantage of using it. King Hippo: Gets a strong protection on its belly. Piston Hondo: catches a katana & outruns a train. Bear Hugger: Fights against a bear and a squirrel. Great tiger: Calls upon the 4 elements. Don Flamenco: is Jealous & trains himself very hard. Aran Ryan: Decides to cheat using a boxing glove on a rope. Soda Popinski: gets strong reactions from a chemical soda bottle. Bald Bull: Can regain his balance when pushed over by a bull. Super Macho Man: Is furious & trains very hard non stop. Mr. Sandman: Is *FUCKING OUTRAGED* & destroys a whole building. DK: joins in the fight for bananas.
Imagine a new punch-out game.. new opponents, returning characters as your trainers (example: snes punchout protagonist (peter punch) or little mac), and more guest fighters!

Right, considering Bear Hugger's trainer is a bear, that either means that Bear Hugger trained the bear to train him, which would be pointless, or that the bear knew the rules of boxing already.
As a Canadian citizen, I can assure you that all bears are considered professional boxers and should be treated as such
Boxing was invented by bears
One neat detail from TD Great Tiger's intro is that in the final frame, each glow around a clone/himself matches the colour of the same attack he uses after the gem flashes. The clones show the attacks before or after they are used.
From left to right:
Blue - His uppercut from your right after striking
White - His earclap prior to striking

Green - His delayed uppercut from your left after striking
I love how all the world champions have these cool stories about how they got to thier position meanwhile we have bald bull just hating the paparazi
I love how this game portrays stereotypes without being mean lol.
So in TD...
Glass Joe: Has brain damage & wears a helmet into the next battle
Von Kaiser: Gets mad that little Mac won & shaves his hair.
