As a JVC LS300 user I can confirm that this is an incredible camera. I love the Sigma 16, 30, and 56 f1.4 trio on it. But that mount means that it can use almost any lens via adapters and speedboosters. It can be vintage heaven. The footage out of it is gorgeous. I love it.

Markus, you are one of the most knowledgeable & wholesome filmmaker/camera gear "nerds" on RUclips. Thank you for your content, it's always a pleasure to watch your videos, and how you just teach others without that usual RUclipsr goal of spitting out tons of videos just to insert sponsored ads. (I get for some of them it's their job, but it's refreshing how you are way more authentic & experienced).

Hooray, I've been using one for 3 years and it's bloody brilliant. Have shot dozens of broadcast TV shows plus music vids in the UK. The Olympus 12-40 F2.8 pro is fantastic on it. And I used the Olympus 45mm F1.8 on a music video shoot on Monday. I use Lumix G Vario PZ 14-45mm/F3.5-5.6 ASPH/MEGA O.I.S when I need image stabilisation.
Its so small and light I can take my full interview set up on public transport in London for shoots.
Whoever the lucky winner is, they will find just how good the image quality is, how easy it is to learn and how much fun you can have with it.. Glad it's getting some love finally.

There's a really good bit of history behind JVC (short for Japan Victor Company) which was a Japanese brand owned by JVCKenwood. I owned a few Kenwood audio devices and was always pleased with the quality. Thanks Mr. Markus for reminding me about the LS300.

Many 'brands' used to mean something. I agree about Kenwood, for example... but nowadays, you have to be VERY CAREFUL about buying something based on brands... many of which have been purchased by Chinese parent companies -- that is to say, they simply stamp a name on something, so the brands you love no longer mean a damn thing.

I own two and I'm sure you've seen my review "Taking a Second Look...", its good to see folks are still reviewing this awesome Cinema Camera!!! Brand New, about 9 years ago the camera sold for 3499.00 bucks and soon after rested at around 2999.99. I got my cheapest one brand new from B&H on sale for 1500!!! Many simply turned their noses up for two reasons, it was a JVC and it didn't shoot in 10bit. If JVC reintroduced this camera, with updated features like dual native ISO starting at around 800ISO, and a better viewfinder, they would see the shit out of this thing. The plastic used is actually really really good plastic, that as you said and metal is used in all the right places. There is a genius involved with how the Top Handle detaches, as you said making the camera much more inconspicuous. My take is that the camera was made about 7 years to early, cause its been my favorite to capture with!!! Great Review!!!

These never sold on my country, really surprised to learn that JVC has such a brilliant lineup of camcorders, JVC also invest a lot of time into colour profiles to get them good looking, I remember seeing a special on Japanese TV about it, because they wanted TV production to save time by not having to colour correct their stuff afterwards.

Thoes looks good however my work have JVC-G180s, good sound XLR inputs, but they are pretty terrible video quality it's 4K but sensor is same size as point and shot + fixed lense isn't so good , tough zooming is smooth and fast but this is diffeent beast

Looks great! I love micro 4/3 lenses. Went to a baseball game with the 100-300mm Lumix and did not get kicked out. Got great footage on my old Panasonic camera.

Top man, that is so kind giving this camera away. It’s nice to see someone who can afford it and give it to someone who can’t and help them. I take my hat off to you sir, nice to know there are kind people out there. I wish you the best in life my friend.

Thanks Markus, I didn't realise I needed to buy one of these lol. I have a TONNE of premium MFT glass including most of the ones you mentioned. I currently use them on a Panasonic G9 with a external monitor attached to film 4K in 29 min bursts.

You dont even need MFT lenses for this camera

Thanks for this review and commentary. I was really surprised to see the quality level of the video! (your paisley shirt just pops!) And you are right, there was little visible difference between the side-by-side shots. I understand you being a "Sony Man", but damn, that JVC puts up a good fight, and for the price (and those who may be price-conscious) it's hard to beat!

Always was interested in this camera since it was unveiled years ago, just never had the chance to play with one. Loved the idea behind though and wish they kept the line going! Great stuff!

@@boxoffisa Marcus isn't advocating using a camcorder for feature film, he is talking about videos for RUclips and other social media platforns.

OH You can forget about the Noctorn series! 0.95 all the way baby. Markus i have a tip for you to review! Look into the sony FS700. it was such a beast of a camera. we used to shoot 1920 - 200 fps DNGRAW with the Oddessy Q. sadly it got lost in a flooding of our office.
