Japanese E39 M5! 5.0 V8 with Lexus reliability.
This Lexus will still be on the road with no issues long after its competitors join the Hoovie fleet of hoopties.
Yes completely agree
Christopher S. That’s a fact still doing the numbers where the rest will have turbo issues
@pearlsnaredrummer77 ya
@@Toyota4Life that's true
@@Toyota4Life I do not see this issue according to JD Power.
The Lexus GS-F has more “M” in it than BMW’s own M cars. High revving NA V8, no fake exhaust sounds etc. It’s a throwback to what BMW M cars were 10-15 years ago. Who cares if it doesn’t do 0-60 in 2.8 seconds.
@G Smith sound is not fake. Yes a duct opens up to the engine compartment in Sport + but it is not fake by any means.
Fake sound can be turned on/off
KB L
From Lexus press material:
The sound blasting from the RC F’s quad stacked tailpipes is sure to turn heads and raise pulse rates. Yet, Lexus also had to design the cabin to be quiet enough to enable enjoyment of the standard premium sound system or sonically stunning Mark Levinson® Premium Surround Sound system.
How could RC F drivers enjoy both? The answer is Active Sound Control (ASC), which lets the driver control enhanced exhaust, intake and mechanical sounds within the cabin. Specifically, Lexus sought to approximate the aural experience provided by the Lexus LFA, which issued some of the most stirring mechanical intake and exhaust notes of any supercar. Although LFA V10 engine revs to 9,000 rpm and RC F’s V8 to 7,100 rpm, the engineers have come close.
An electronic control unit mounted beneath the instrument panel takes input from engine sounds, including varying engine speed, vehicle speed and throttle position and generates augmented sound through an actuator. It is entirely separate from audio system, so there’s no reduction in music fidelity.
Most importantly is the driver controls ASC. It’s activated only in SPORT S+ mode, not Eco, Normal and SPORT S modes. And when it’s on, ASC blends with the natural intake and exhaust sounds to about a 50:50 ratio.
At engine speeds up to 3,000 rpm, ASC issues a steady tone of low and deep sounds.
As revs rise, the tone transforms into a higher-pitched note that blends with the engine’s mechanical sounds, culminating in a free-soaring sound beyond 6,000 rpm.
I care dummy. All show, no go, is not what I'm looking for. And literally every iteration of bmw blows the doors off the previous generation on the track... where it matters... where acceleration, breaking, and steering are put to the test. This junk wagon wouldn't stand a chance against the performance of an M3, and the upcoming M3 will be awd and 510 hp, so bye bye lexus.
TasteMyStinkhole And the next gen F cars will have a 4.0v8 twin turbo producing just shy of 600hp. So bye bye BMW. Lexus also says bye bye to all the stranded BMWs broken on the sides of freeways too 😛
I'm a proud and very happy owner of the GS350 F-Sport variant of this same car and if rumors are true Lexus is killing the GS line altogether then the GS-F is my next natural upgrade. Lots of folks really under estimate the fit and finish, handling, overall driving experience and fun.
These cars are what old school BMW used to be like. Think e39, e30, e46 chassis with same driving dynamics, handling, real steering feel, road presence and overall driving experience is amazing on these cars.
Folks looking for not only a luxury sports sedan but one that won't break down, I'd highly recommend to look for these used. Sure they don't have the latest and greatest bells and whistles like the German counterparts but you won't miss them and won't become an endless money pit.
GS has always held a special place in my heart.
I just bought my third GS model. This one’s a GS F!
Owning this car, it’s much better than it seems on paper. It drives just as well as it’s competitors. May not be as fast, but it handles amazingly.
There's just something sexy af about this car. It's not the best, not the fastest, not the most tech but there's something I love about this car.
Yeah, it's like the skinny guy who chases after really fat morbidly obese women. Its a fetish
It is the most reliable and pretty darn rare
I've always loved the GS Lexus', even from back in the day!
Best brand and only brand known for reliability and quality.
I had no idea those cars had such cool tech! I love the videos with Paul, thanks for doing them.
Hot? No, HOTTEST.
Have owned MK2 and currently own MK3 GS. These cars are absolutely amazing.
This one is definitely on the list as well. ❤️
No but the car frankly needs to be priced at around 60k doesn’t make sense to me for an older powertrain that’s a decade old already and chassis thats been out since 2012 and still charge 90K Lexus needs to get off sitting on there reliability laurels already.
Paul, bought a 996.1 manual because of the TFL series on that (within a month of airing, still own/like), and seeing this positive review 2 days after I just bought GSF (CPO) gives me added confidence it was a good choice. Chris Harris (TG) and Matt Farah (one take) already said same yet you are here at mile high. Thanks for promoting track, I gotta get there and perhaps get some supervision to drive better.
Great car great product
Super reliable and you can basically service your self hey it’s a Lexus
This is a drivers car.
Made to feed your sense and make you feel in control of the driving experience and one with the car. This is the complete opposite of the Germans with their computer controlled hold on and let power take care of everything for you performance car. This Lexus GSF formula is very rare to see in today’s atmosphere or performance cars. These cars will be sort after. It’s shocking to see Lexus marking drivers cars today instead of the Germans which have become obsessed with the numbers race. This is a very special car indeed this GSF. Jeremy Clarkson from top gear pick this car as the drivers car over the BMW M5 in a comparison test between the two.
Sad that Lexus will jump ship on this type of thing with the new generation of F models that will follow suit with the times and go turbo for more power I just don’t hope they lose their soul. Lexus continues to make the best Japanese luxury performance cars.
I want to buy a 2012+ isf because of the revised suspension tweaks and added Bluetooth and LSD differential compared to the previous years isf's, and also becasue it is super light compared to it's F siblings which makes it a lot more of an underrated car all around. Seen them be neck to neck with rcf and gsf all the time even tho it has less power but again, it's the weight difference that truly helps. Never drove any of the F cars but some have said that the ISF feels more aggressive and peppy than the rcf anf gsf ( i think the transmission is more refined in the newer F cars). I've heard the rumors and they have been testinf a 4.4L twin turbo V8 and might be for the LCF but idk of it'll come for the rumored returning ISF because some say it's getting a twin turbo v6 which will be the worst thing that can happen! I just hope they keep a V8 NA or not and have tons of aftermarket potential and show all the other car brands that toyota doesnt play around when they decide to make a true sports car/hot rod/ etc. Fingers crossed that they hit all the right buttons like before.
Always enjoy Paul’s videos. By the way, I listened to his audiobook “Optimum Drive”. It was so good, I re-listened immediately after finishing it.
thank you!
So happy to be a GS F driver :-) This new and probably the final model got the AVS Adaptive Variable Suspension and some minot tweaks. Love it. Best emotions and oldschool modern everyday supersedan.
great video Paul, this is a car that leaves others behind in ways you explained that its competitors use electronic nannies instead of the actual mechanical diff that is adjustable for the driver and i think this car would do just fine in winter with the proper tires as you and Roman and the rest of the TFL CLAN always bring to the videos along with the road service conditions, I do agree with the first commenter here Donald Powers that the time is out a bit i got here at home with a stopwatch in the high 1:06's on both runs, just 2 guys opinions, great video and although it does not speak german, i would rather have this for the reason the check engine light doesn't come on every time you drive past a BMW dealership, they are dead reliable and built to last , BMW use to be built this way and are no longer ,Lexus still is and fit and finish is much better than most germans outside of a Mercedes maybe, thanks again
Hi y’all ! I love your videos ! The GS has been a fav of mine for a while now! The older generation was such a cool platform to modify. Speaking on Japanese sports cars , will y’all please review and race around a 370Z? I would love your opinion on the Z. Thanks !!
Everything u said as a negative is what I really like about this car...it’s different and it’s big old V8 NA engine
Just sold my ‘93 GS300. Already miss it...
Ya as I've been saying for a while ever since the LFA when Toyota put there minds to it they can make monsters sad to see them leaning more towards hybrids
They don't enjoy making these F vehicles 😆...they just make them to show the world...we have the know how...we just can't be bothered lol....AMG and Co are now into Twin Turbos.😆..almost 3 decades behind Toyota Supra..lol
@@TheMuzikall ya that is true what you said
LS600HL is a bad ass hybrid. The 5.0L+electric motor pulls like a train. Even at 5100lbs.
ECVT different than other CVTs.
I love that car! The yellow no. I would love to see you do another lap or two in warmer weather and a clean track. Paul is the American Stig for a reason!!!
I like Paul being solo on this, turned out really good.
That would be a great car that I would purchase for $50-60k
Look for a used Chevy SS or Cadillac CTS V.
Agreed. Too bad MSRP is $85K.
@@richfarfugnuven6308 No way I will buy a GM product. I like the Lexus for reliability, but it is too expensive. I most likely will be getting a Kia Stinger GT.
With the GS-F there hasn’t really been any updates other than signature colors so look for a used one. The model years are irrelevant. They go for about $60k with low miles
@@Alex.AL_26 ewww a v6
The new track views are fantastic!
This guy gives great reviews. It's crazy to think he was the stig and wasn't allowed to talk on top gear.
An old school civic type R for mature guy ,like 1st gen e55 amg,a factory sleeper
I wish Japan made more comfortable and fast sedans like this, my old Infiniti had a NA V8 and was so nice. Nothing beats the feeling of having that.
Mazda does the same with their vectoring control. They even use the tilting moment of the motor for a fraction of a second to shift the weight. You don't notice it, but you get a smoother ride through corners without the need of steering corrections.
Lexus has the “old school” v8 and Lexus also have a “turbo” option available. Yes the Lexus gs comes in a 2.0 turbo as well.
I don’t think most people are aware of this but the Lexus GS F has a kick down pedal so it kinda prevents u from flooring it to the floor...so that might be a reason why most people assume this car is slow u just need to further push down on the pedal
Some points to consider:
Cars like these are not something that you need rather something you want. And the wants cost money so I wouldn’t be complaining about the price.
A Toyota engineer once said POWER it’s endless, I’m pretty sure Toyota if they want to they could make a car that does 0-60 mph in two seconds and then what?
I don’t think speed is as important as it is handling, fun, simplicity and how engaging the car is to the driver. But some reason every body seem to think they are professional race drivers out there...
Amazing cars! I own a white on red 2016 GS350 F-Sport that I bought used almost two years ago with 41k miles for $29k & has been absolutely amazing & I'll probably keep it for a very long time!
Flare Yellow Lexus GS F 😍❤😍❤.
Great review, but WTH is that crazy beeping while Paul was running the track?!
hitting the rev limiter/red lining
He was talking about the RCF while saying ISF. ISF is a completely different car where the engine was completely reworked for the RCF and made high-revving.
This guy is so much better than Roman... give this man a permanent gig on this channel and maybe I'll re- subscribe .
Joelon 305 Roman and son are Douche Nozzels
You should have your own channel
The GS was derived from the Japanese market Aristo, which interestingly enough was offered with the same conservatively rated 275hp Twin Turbo in-line 6 as the Supra back in the 90’s. I’ve always felt like it was never appreciated as the great car it is, because Toyota never gave it the power it deserved as a Lexus. Now they are. At around 4200lbs it’s not light, but very decent for a good sized sedan.
If the Stig says it's awesome, then it's awesome!
Does it need a turbo?
-No, it needs to be cheaper and lighter. It’s an F model so cut down on those heavy luxury stuffs and use lighter materials.
Beautiful car!!!
at the end is that how the rc sound? I heard a whistling sound almost like a trubo
What's a trubo?
Very nice. I like.
Albeit late to the party, I was always torn between purchasing the Lexus sedans and the Cadillac Sedans. This video, among various others, convinces me to buy the Lexus; in this case the IS500. Last of the V8s indeed. Sad that Lexus is not making a final edition GSF, imagine that.
Love GSF V8. Twin Turbocharged this beast please.
So sporty! I love the GS-F very unique sports sedan!
Is it hot for the price which I didn't hear you mention?
GSF is great for performance/practicality balance, but as it shows the RCF carbon fiber/TVD had a super impressive lap time on this track. Quite a lot faster with the same driver and track. It is up there with some of the fastest cars in the segment. Almost 2.5 seconds per lap faster with the same driver, same track and same type of conditions. RCF is much shorter, smaller, about 100 lbs lighter and has better aerodynamics so the sacrifice in practicality pays dividends on the track.
Track looked pretty dusty. I really like that car though.
Beautiful car and engine. Such a let down with the rear tail lights though compared to the RC-F, literally looks like a Camry...
This car will be a classic. I gotta buy one. Maybe I’ll be able to afford the 2016 million n like 2 more years!!😭😭❤️❤️
12:23 also keep in mind it's a lot cheaper than the BMW or Merc. the GS is 5 series size for 3 series money.
Go Lexus!!! The Germans would NEVER splash yellow all over their ride LOL Yellow is my favorite color and I gotta admit it gives this car a look that stands out from the sea of reds, blacks and silver. You get noticed.
4:25 looks so much like the Lexus LS
I have a feeling these will run trouble free to 100k unlike BMW , Mercedes. Just wonder if the Maintenance are 15 grand like BMW
Every corner has a serious layer of dirt on it , poor track maintenance. Any lap time on this test is null and void. This car has been track reviewed many times so we all know it’s slower ( mostly due to weight) than a BMW M but not by much and the GS F is a completely reliable daily commuter where the M’s are track toys.
Next year will be the 4.0 V8 twin turbo and while I’m not a hair dryer fan I know it will bring a huge bump in HP and especially torque
E36. 5 years only. M5 same. But gsf forever 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
LEXUS TOTALLY ROCKS IMHO
Mr. Haggar their the best Japanese brand. Luxury and performance all in one
They are a good but not great brand IMO. If not for the RX they may well be gone by now. The ES sells fine but not great. Both the NX and UX are very forgettable.
@@gregkramer5588 Gone? What a LOAD of crap. They have sold almost 800.000 units last year and their continuously growing up, it's not about the RX only, that model sells a lot in the US and some asian countries but in EU they are growing a lot with NX, still on fire After 7 years, with the UX and the ES.
@@ilgwent1508 I did look it up and you are correct they did sell a bit more than I thought. I was only considering the US. They are ahead of VW here and right below Dodge in sales.
Is this the same v8 in the 2007-2014 Lexus ISF??
Thats one seriously fast taxi! If you don’t need 4drs, the RCF is cheaper (except for Track Edition)
Two seconds slower than the Jeep and the same lap time as a Miata, haha! It's a great car, but of course it can't compete with the performance of the German sledgehammers like the E63 or M5. I love how it's constantly beeping at the driver, as if to say "what the f*ck are you doing bro?! I just pretend to be a track car!" For the right price the car is a win, as long as you don't expect it to mop the floor with everything else on the road, because it can't. You can brag about the fact that it DOESN'T pipe in artificial engine noise through the speakers 😁
The GS-F easily has a 1:03 to 1:04 in it which puts it in line with an M2 and an Alfa Giulia Q4. Like he said it was cold and on summer tires which turn into hokey pucks below 45F.
The beeping is a warning when he was trying to downshift over redline. Lexus does that to protect their reliable engine. That said, it's too heavy to be a track car, but built in Japan, and will be around long after any same-year Merc or Beamer.
Good car to have year round somewhere with no snow, but it is an expensive car with no awd...with Lexus reliability, it will last with proper maintenance
I daily drive mine in -30C weather. lot of snow on the ground with blizzaks it drives very well. Excellent traction control system.
What are the beeps we’re hearing. Shift?
Fee car is denying downshifts on the double beep. And the single beep is to upshift
What is the chirp-chirp on the track runs all about? Nanny reminding you to shift?
This car has only electronic diff. Rcf had two options. Lc500 has only a torsen diff
this div is really worth it. you really feel the push when going around the corner at 100+ mph. I do this almost every day on RCF. It's worth it. It really helps with the agility of this big sedan. helpful in changing lanes quick as well.
Very good video, nice car but ain’t buying it for 90k! I would get a cts-v instead. More power even better handling and same mpg if not better. For those who care about reliability, buy a warranty if your not modifying it. pay 3k and you’re good to go. Proof I’m wrong!
Want to see you take a old 2011 Cadillac CTS-V around the track. 556 supercharged HP. Nice video. That Lexus sounds good.
A track test for one speed? Ridical
Beatiful Lexus GS F, but what a horrible track to test it on! The tires needs to be wider in the rear. Some 295's would really look nice!
PIPING HOT it is.
600hp and 0-60 in 2.8 is why I chose my F90 M5 over this. It has so many features that it's like a spaceship. Not worried about resale or maintenance cost because it's a toy that I'll only put 5k miles on yearly. Plus, I chose the 7 year extended maintenance and warranty option (along with dents, dings and wheel/tire protection. I'll retire it to the garage once the next gen GT3 RS is available. 💪😏
BMW = Big Money Waisted. Obviously imho & with all due respect.
I choose my M5 over this because I’m not a driver and I just want a fast car 😂 so I can look like a driver. This Lexus GSF is a drivers car the M5 is not
Hater Alert 🤣👌
BMW has no idea or interest in building anything close to reliable anymore. They're awesome cars that have glass jaws.
Toyota4Life drivers car😂😂😂 cant even beat a jeep!
Seems like it should do a lot better than mid pack.
Nice car, but price-wise, its way out of the comfort zone of the typical JDM buyer. I'd rather go with a slightly used Genesis g80 with their Tau GDi 5.0 V8. 420-460hp with 380+ tq. Looks more sleek and a 2017 model can be purchased for less than $20,000 with around 30k mikes
Now please put that engine in the supra widebody trackpack edition 10 speed auto paddle shift would be super!!
8 speed is good enough
The Supra needs a true manual transmission, not paddle shifter junk.
Supras are i6 cars and they wanted a engine that's tunable. Public vote strictly wanted it to be i6 so V8 was completely debunked.
First. 4liter 92 sc400. No replacement for displacement 👌🏼
Paul J did a t56 swap on my 94 sc400, such an awesome car. Wish they come manual factory on the 4.0
That engine woulda been perfect for the supra

NOOOOO
do we want them
MAYBE
Naturally aspirated is preferred... but if you've ever raced a car there is the debate of Turbo vs Supercharger. I pick Supercharger because they are easier to maintain and has far fewer break downs than a Turbo.
@303StreetMachines Turbochargers either blow the engine or head gasket. Superchargers are just easier to maintain than a turbocharger.
@303StreetMachines Of course, they are more efficient they ram more air than a Supercharger, Turbo = more internal pressure... I've seen too many blown heads and engines due to Turbos.
@303StreetMachines A Turbo on a diesel is stronger and better made than a turbo for a gas engine. I'm rebuilding a 1968 Power Wagon and I'm really thinking of using a Turbo Diesel Cummings.
Is yellow a factory color?
The Future Is Here yes
I would rather have a charger then this if I had to choose a v8 sense dodge makes very good v8s and it is old school and it has more space and also you can option for the handling package if you want better handling.

All I hear is engine no outside noise ...true Lexus.
Yes rs6 m5 63 amg is faster but look at this Lexus ! Amazing car n/a engine is real ,not that turbos
torque vectoring has become the darling of tryhard performance cars. it is the same with awd. most cars claiming to have awd, rely on haldex style systems. in fact audi is one of the worst offenders. they proudly but the quattro badge on anything they make, but the rs3 for example shares its set up with all cuvs. fwd with a hang on haldex system.
The RS3 is based on the fwd A3 platform. If you skimp and buy the cheapest, you get the least effective system. Most transverse fwd-based platforms use a haldex system, while most longitudinal rwd-based systems use a torsen differential.
new Haldex (now owned by Borg Warner) is very good, it used to be horrible (as you said) but not anymore, go drive one on the track and you'll see they can behave like any good AWD system if tuned properly
If the time started when the starter dropped his hand the driver left late by a considerable amount of time...watch it at 8.00 come on guys
