The Etha 3 has been released and it's literally the same as 170 besides aluminum body and LCD screen. Functionality wise it's the exact same , same bolt so it's going to shoot exactly the same .
I own some high end markers and i still love my etha 2. Its the one marker i know i can rely on, i feel comfortable playing with it in the rain and cold and i also can appreciate how durable they are. I think every player new and experienced should have one as a backup gun
I sold all my markers just to keep the Etha 2… I bought if for my wife and she ended up using it once…. Got a headshot while playing and she was DONE DONE! lol This thing is so dependable and reliable… I used for big games and Sunday paintball weekend warrior games through rain, mud, direct paintball hits and that thing keeps shooting ropes! Minimal maintenance and awesome sound signature. Can’t go wrong with the Etha 2…. High end performance at a lower end cost 👏
Forgot to say… I’va had anywhere from Empire, Dye, DP, Tippman and Planet eclipse markers… and this is the one I choose for the win…. Doesn’t come with all the bells and whistles but is a trooper ready to take on any battlefield and DOMINATE!
Good comparison. so on my emek I bought the pal loader and disliked it so much, it could not keep up with my stock emek at all, so when I put a hair 45 valve in my emek , i never used the pal loader again.
Awesome video but one thing that was left out. The 170r has a mech option. Down part is that now you add another $150 to the marker putting it at $949.99. But on the flip side you can get an etha 2 and an Emek for $679 amd have $270 left over to add a barrel kit from inception and a pops and have money left over for paint. Also 2 markers for the price of the 170r with second frame.
I like the review. I have shot $1000+ markers for the past 15 years. The PE comes out with the Etha 2 and its your basic led electronics which works well + gamma core + eyes+ hose less+ tool less. After using the etha 2 for a year for woodsball it is compsite body is bulletproof. The body weight actually adds something to the shot and it feels more of a stable shot. It's not the prettiest marker but it performs like a highend marker. You don't have to spend a ton to hang with the highend markers. Aftermarket bodies, triggers, bolt. My son recently started playing and we share the etha2 between a etek5. Both are really reliable.
Etha 2 just has that features that make it feel comfortable in the hands like the wrap around rubber grip, while 170R has the features of the high end marker but without the comfortability of the Etha 2, it’s more wider and blocky-ish. You know what marker that does have those? The CS2, it really feels like PE engineered the design of the 2 markers to have those missing components that would lead eventually to the CS2.
if you go to the smoke shop to buy a bong do you buy the best bong so that everytime you load it up with greens g take a hit you get a good hit or do you get the cheap budget bong thats shit
I just want to say I bought a 170 tester day and I love it I’ve played with the Etha multiple times and it’s a very good marker but the 170 is just yo honestly better if you have the money please get it
If you're diving hard enough to break a composite frame, you're also going to put enough force on an aluminum frame. So in either case, the gun was going to break. Not really a point against the Etha.
Great comparison, I own the etha2 , I like the option that I can customize the marker with a 3D printed body, rear bolt and asa. I also installed the magnetic trigger mod and deuce trigger with a Nummech aluminum feed neck and carbon IC barrel. I don’t have to worry about scratching or denting the marker body cause it’s made from GRN composite.
@@falconxfalconia the nummech feed neck is a great option if you’re not using a PAL loader. It comes with an aluminum cap to plug the Original PAL vent hole on the marker. The nummech aluminum feed neck is less balky than the original feed neck and it includes a thumb screw to tighten. The feed neck has ridges inside to keep your loader from sliding out and extra secure. It’s also a great option if you have a HK army speed loader with the bottom lower fin, it won’t fit the original feed neck.
Great video amazing info, I have the Etha 2 and looking to upgrade a bit not sure this is a huge upgrade or a big difference but great info guys thanks
Need a handle strap for the case , no wrong answer on either , normally more accessories more problems , but I have not found this to be true with PE . ETHA 2 will last forever , you get what you pay for thanks for the video
Reliability has never been an issue with anything jack wood touches, far as I can remember. And their customer service is bar none, to wholesale and retail alike.
as someone getting into paintballing i can’t justify $1000 for a gun my AR15 cost me around $1100 and i can hunt wild boar and feed my family with it ill stick to the casual guns for now haha
I feel it's fair to point out that PE guns have had FAR MORE metal frames break or bend than composite. Just tossing that out there. In fact PE has been well known for that issue for a decade or more lol.
So you pay a extra 200 bucks for a skull on your bolt release. The mill job is wack they did almost nothing on infamous edition beside the skull. Back in the day a custom mill job was very obvious and stood out you cant even tell on the 170 it looks stock.
Dude, its is the HK model of buisness, take someone else's product, change almost nothing, slap your logo on it, ship, sell, take cut, give cut to company that ACTUALLY made it, wash rinse and repeat. HK is so gimmicky. Its almost gotten so bad I won't even buy their soft goods, until they come out with a gun of their own and stop with this nonsense.
Etha 2 is more reliable. I play for Annapolis A-team in Maryland and the etha2 is my main gun. The board is simple to change firing modes and its located above the trigger frame so when you have to play in the rain you don't have to worry about frying your board. It has the same bolt and shoots the exact same! Don't waste your money on the 170 just buy a cs1 or a geo at that point. It's a waste when you can pay $429 for a more reliable (etha2) aka 170r
Entry level can’t beat the etha 2. Really would like to see how fast the PALS system will shoot. PS the last frame of the videos still looks like a dick
17:45 Is the extra machining in the 170 can for efficiency? I have wandered this for a while and nobody seems to know. They use 2 different ones for a reason I would think. Why would they setup and machine 2 different parts when they could use the same one?
The additional machining makes the air chamber slightly larger (and saves a bit weight). Larger chamber equals lower pressure for the same velocity. How much actual difference does that make is another question... You can't really say these guns operate at a set pressure when nearly all of them literally use a pressure regulator to adjust velocity. They operate at a pressure range around the given value (and who has the equipment to actually check it?) (The Axe platform is a notable exception)
Etha 2 has a nicer trigger than even the cs2....just my opinion, only thing about my cs2 i don't like. Edit, which is odd because sooo much of the cs2 design came from the etha, and yet they thought hey lets go with the rake, cuz otherwise we'd have the perfect gun. Damn you jack.
The CS2 Pro has a 2nd trigger, which I like, but I do like the Etha 2's stock trigger w/out needin a second one in the bag/box and havin to swap it out
@@Taintedmind i got the OG cs2 launch edition, lol. So I'm the dumbass that just couldn't wait for the "pro" with the extra barrel back and the second trigger

Etha 2 has easy remove grips with no tools +1

I can confirm my 170r came with the game on case so i think they are still doing the different color cases.
I'll take the Etha 2!
I was interested in one of these as a backup, and at the time the 170R was only about $100 more so I went with it.
Still watiting for the shoot video, boys

My mini GS needs a break!
Trigger Pool is the only difference love both .keep up the grate work it come down to you 800. Dollars or 430. Dollars
I got a etha2 and the only upgrade I put is the inception designs fle body kit. it made a big difference with the weight of the marker
just can't let go of my 170r. never did me wrong, only thing is the pricing of the grips for colors other than black

170s are $870 and etha 2s are $470, the 170 comes stock with more colors like, predator, hde urban as well,

Etha2 all day vs 170r,there's just not about 400$ extra value in the 170.
Except its made cheaper and could snap in half
ETHA3 it's worth it !
Let's see the photo, of the broken marker
Only thing I don't like about my 170r is it only has preset modes it's got what you need but you can't do to much settings wise

What about the eye system? Etha 2 uses the same system as the cs2, what eyes does the 170r use?
It's the same in/out as the CS2/Pro, so just pull down the front grip and you have a slide to access the eyes for them to come out
