I appreciate you showing this. A lot of people don’t have the budget for the majority of the campers you show on the channel.
My wife and I have been "camping" for nearly 40 years. We currently have a fancy new 5th wheel and heavy duty pickup. We still talk about all of the fun we had in our easy to tow 1986 family hand-me-down Flagstaff pop-up we started with.
I've never been a fan to ever own one, but i appreciate looking at them. My Dad and his friends made a pop up camper back in 1934. That was the year they turned 16 so they could drive. If he was alive and saw this he'd think it was cool
Very fond memories of these tent trailers.....thanks for covering this one !
That black canvas is going to attract the sun and heat like a magnet!!
Ahhhh! Those were the days! We started camping in a pop-up back in the 70’s ! A lot of fun back then.
We had a lot of fun with our pop up camper with way less problems than our fifth wheel.
I started out with a popup when my kids were little, to get them up off the ground. We had a cartridge toilet for late night eventualities. I loved that thing and still kind of miss it. Easy to store, easy to tow, has a heater for cold nights. It didn't have an air conditioner but we don't stay inside during the day unless it's raining. But what stuns me these days is how incredibly expensive these things have gotten. It isn't a budget solution anymore, the appeal is more around towing capacity for smaller vehicles.
I lived in a restored 1969 Skamper pop very simular for 3.5 months when I was operating equipment in a remote location. Just being me there I had enough space on rainy mornings that everyone else sat in my place for their morning coffee, none of the pickup camper could accommodate 8 people.
At least 3/4 ton towable. 1 ton would be better. 😂
I came here for a similar comment.
Pop-up tent are absolute champions at getting camping done off the ground at reasonable cost. Obviously not on luxury side when compared to hard shells, they however scream functionality, versatility and large space for amazing family time.
We also started with a pop up! ❤
Popup campers, the gateway drug into the RVing world.
If you are into offloading, atv or sxs, one of these could take place of renting a cabin.
Not everyone can spring for a Toy hauler.
Nice curveball JD.
Be safe everybody.
Hey JD, I hope that you're having a great day! Thank you for everything that you do for us. I think these pop-up campers are cool. If you don't have the money for the bigger travel trailers or fifth wheels, these pop-up campers are the way to go if you are tired of tent camping and sleeping on the ground. It's cool that you get a full wet bathroom in this Flagstaff pop-up camper. It surprised me that it had a 15000btu AC unit in it. It surprised me.when you was reading the paper an it said there was two 20000btu furnaces in this unit! This is really cool and amazing. Thank you JD for showing us this unit!
Nice unit.
These are neat little campers, can be pulled by virtually anything. September is National Preparedness Month. Should an emergency or disaster were to happen and the authorities were to tell you that you had to evacuate; a little camper like this might be worth having just for “bug out” purposes since everyone being evacuated will be vying for limited hotel space. With this your stay over is almost unlimited. State parks, big box stores etc should be available for little or no charge.
Interesting.
Being that cold air sinks, I wonder how well those AC units would really help as compared to a roof mounted AC. Not to mention, the AC on the larger pop up camper is located well away from the larger bed, and the smaller one seems to be blocked by the dinette.
My folks had a basic Coleman pop up when I was a kid. I guess it did everything they wanted it to. But it was a chore to get any sleep at night when it was 1,000,000% humidity and there was no breeze.
Your videos are like a bright ray in the world of content. Thanks for your creative light illuminating our days!💕💕 ? 🍷,
Grew up with a StarCraft Galaxy 8 in the mid 70’s. I’d be interested in going back to a PU but for the amount of camping we do, a tent is sufficient as we often have a boat in tow. I don’t think I would use the shower, and would do the cooking outside.
I love the flagstaff 3 queen popup camper with the nice kitchen and full bathroom. I believe it's the Rockwood ROO S33?
Awesome
Can you put any type of solar on a pop-up tent?
This video will blow your mind! 💥 If you haven't watched it, you're missing out on something incredible!👌👌 3 🐅.
Does it come with fresh and black water tanks?
Looks like fun. I like it. MSRP?
What are holding tank sizes?
IIRC you have to go to the larger highwall models for holding tanks. The standard popups just have a 10 or 20 gallon fresh tank and if equipped the 5 ish gallon cassette toilet. To use the sink or shower you either need a sewer connection or one of those portable blue totes.
Your videos are always full of creativity and style. Thank you for your skill.☝️🍉🏙
