They really do seem to love each other. I personally know a couple that are in a intergenerational marriage and they even have children together. They are a good family and really love each other. In our modern society we have been conditioned to think this is abnormal, but if you really take time to observe some of these relationships you realize that it is actually quite beautiful that people manys years apart in age can really love each other like that.
No, we haven't been conditioned to think it's abnormal. THIS was the norm for millennia - this isn't new. And you know what happened - many of these young women had no autonomy. They were groomed, abused, etc and left with nothing when their husband/partner was ready to move on or die. The difference is that people are somewhat more educated now and women do have more options and they don't have to stay with a man for resources if they don't have to. Back in the day....women had no rights or protection so they were forced to either enter or remain in these types of relationships because they really didn't have other options. So, we know from HISTORY what it can look like.
Yet, at least in today's climate more women at least have options if his doesn't work out for them. They are going into these relationships WILLINGLY. They aren't stuck and don't have to stay if they are unhappy.

I was married and faithful for 28 years, had children, took care (and still do) of wife's family members etc. We separated last spring. I'm a dominant man, she's a dominant woman. How we made it 28 years is tough love. I wasn't happy, she wasn't happy. Somebody has to give in if there is an argument. If both people are equally as hardheaded problems are not resolved.
