Pro max fast / m1 - Could you post some details about how well the 14" MBP runs Bioshock Infinite? That's one of my favourite ever games and I play it on my 13" 16GB MBP in Parallels and get about 30-40fps on medium settings at 1400x900, but I'd like to know how far you can crank up the detail and resolution on the 14" MBP with 16 GPU cores in Parallels?
Did anyone experience the earthing issue it seems no one is talking about it on their reviews which seems like a pretty common issue with 2-pin duck head.

M1 MacBook Air is undoubtedly apples best laptop hands down, for the average user such as myself. In fact if you look at the specs, the difference between the 13 inch MacBook Air and MacBook Pro is negligible. Touch Bar, fans, and… that’s it. In terms of performance, because of the M1 chip they perform fairly equal. Save yourself some money with the M1 MacBook Air 💻
First time Mac owner here, and I've fallen in love with how this chunky retro boi looks and feels. As a general-use "computer", this thing does everything, and I really mean everything. I am coming from a desktop gaming PC (which I've sold recently) and even the amount of games I can play from my Steam library is pretty satisfactory. Obviously it isn't a hardcore gaming machine, but I much rather use a gaming console rather than sitting and working in front of a desk and THEN sitting and playing games again in front of a desk nowadays.
I use Apples bootcamp to continue my gaming journey on my mac :) One reason I can’t go back to windows PCs is because I can’t switch and use apples beautiful OS X, which I immensely prefer compared to Windows
the 13 inch appears thinner because it has a tapered edge. measured from the centre (its thickest point), it is ever so slightly thicker than the 14’. i know, it doesn’t change the fact that from the edge the 14’ is thicker
I agree with you, this 14 is perfect. I traded in my 2020 13 inch and got $800 for it. such an amazing machine plus you can still charge the laptop with a USB C in any of the ports. No issues for the notch for me yet. Winning.
The 13” definitely does look thinner but I’m pretty sure that’s just due to the tapered edges. At their thickest points they are about the same. I also really like the new design. Something about the chunkier more retro look makes it feel less dainty than the 13” and makes it feel more of a rugged and capable machine.
I love the larger size. I’ve always felt compelled to use a protective case with my last few MacBooks that were so thin but with this one I love just having the thicker chassis
Exactly the same as mine. I had the choice between this one and the Air M2 but display, GPU, ports, cooling system, speakers and finally the offer at Amazon made it easy for me. A great machine; I love it and would buy it again. btw I don't care about the weight. Formerly I used an MBP mid 2009 ... that's mass :)
Quick tip: you can actually use an M1 MacBook with dual screens using a DisplayLink compatible adapter, it negotiates using USB protocols, it takes a hit on resolution but nothing major if multiple screens is a must.
I can’t believe you used to have to crawl under your desk every time you wanted to import footage from your camera! Congrats on this great review AND the cinematographic intro! Love the editing at 3:20 and throughout the video. I’m amazed to call the pro max fast!

If try to make it look good the ports are taken out. If we want more power outta the CPU or GPU the battery gets downsized. So form my point of view the Apple 14" M1 pro is the sweet spot along with the 16 gigs RAM and 1TB SSD and the 14 core GPU.
I always bought every Apple product in the pro model and once the M1 came out I switched to Air and the best move saved a lot of money . The pro is for heavy users not the normal user .

@@shadowspade7589 I don't like the radius of the curve for the new model and its thickness and the black paint in the keyboard area that I don't find necessary. It looks like a product of some others brands trying to copy Apple brands.
I actually like how it looks. I have the 13 inch, thinner MacBook Pro… and the form factor is sleek, but I came into the MacBook game with the black MacBook (years ago) and it has a similar look, albeit thinner. For me, it adds a bit of sentimental value to my purchase. It’s like coming full circle. I also join with others opinion on not being able to get it all and having it be a little bit more bulky in order to get speed and ports is a really good trade off. Great video!

Good video man. One thing: Face ID can't be added in a future update because it requires special hardware, which these new MacBooks don't have. The notch only has a camera. Just thought I'd let you know.
@@AndrewEthanZeng I would absolutely love a MacBook Pro with Face ID. Like you said, hopefully we'll see it in the next generation. Maybe 2 years from now?
The reason why you see a more dramatic difference in width is because you were comparing edges. The 13” MacBook Pro has a convex shape, making it thicker in the middle and thinner at the edges, meanwhile the new 14” is flat all the way across
I still prefer having the 14" (not necessarily fully spec’d) I’ve played with both the 16" and 14" at the store, while they both looked thicker than previous ones, and the 16" felt very bulky while holding it up and putting it back on the table, BUT MY QUESTION IS : are the new MBPs more prone to dings, for me the aluminum didn’t seem to be machined like the previous ones, and the screen lids wobble like crazy especially the 16" one, while the previous ones rock solid lids when bumping the table or putting them down… I still have the 15" from 2014 got it fully spec’d at the time, and after 8 years of use it handled bumps extremely well and the lid doesn’t wobble at all, even if you force it, it wobbles for like a split second and stops, the new ones especially the lids, feel less sturdy to me, and if they make the new Airs like that too, I think I’m gonna get a fully spec’d MBA before they change to the new design… sorry for my long comment but I was really wondering if anyone else noticed that and your experiences using the new MBPs with the new aluminum chassis/lids, THANKS!
i totally understand your concerns about the wobble! somehow apple seems to go after that "one finger lift" when closed. that started 2016 with the redisigned mbp. i too prefer the sturdy mpp hinge from 2012-2015. it still lets you lift the lid pretty easily but doesnt give you that wobble anciety when having it on the lap!!!
I'd love Face ID to come to the Mac, however, it's not going to come via a software update. Face ID relies on 3 major sensors (Dot Projector, Flood Illuminator, and an IR Camera, which the 2021 MBP models lack) to create a 3D depth map of a user's face.
I finally saw in person yesterday when i went to the apple store to get my airpods fixed and i fell in love with it. Definitely gonna trade in my 2019 intel 13 inch macbook pro for the base model 14 inch hopefully next year.
Does everyone forget the fact that many people switch from often 15,4" notebooks? I personally tried one day a 14" notebook with FullHD screen as replacement for my aged 2010 MacBook Pro 15" matte screen as a test if the 14" model would be enough. As much i like the portability of 14" machines... they are still somewhat "big", especially the new 2021 MacBook Pros but for good reasons like huge battery and so. I could not really switch from 15,4 to 14", so i dediced for the 16" 2021, and DAAAAMN what a good choice, its as big as my 2010 MBP (only thinner) but a definately larger screen and i LOVE IT. Especially the ridicilous battery runtime will be proven at my first nights doing astrophotography where i need the Mac for autoguiding, target list/queue and controlling everything on the scope.
Also, a huge NoGo for the 13" was the size... damn it only "looks" slim, but is as thick as the 14" Pro. Also the annoying thick bezels, not ok at a 1000$ computer in 2020+
Pro Max Fast! I’m still holding out for M2 just to see if I can save extra cash on this, but I expect it to last a decade just like my mid 2012 Retina MBP, either way
Pro max fast. m1 pro. Airpods Pro - still best headphones for me with all its active noise cancellation, transparency mode, wireless charging case, sweat and water resistance..
Could you share your opinion on weight and portability? I have a 2017 MBP that I use constantly and I carry it in my backpack. Is this M1 Pro much heavier?
I constantly used PC Laptops until october when my sister got the 13 inch macbook m1... now I got the 14' M1 pro and it's freaking amazing. Also with parallels I didn't lose any software from windows and I can even play PC games (which positively surprised me). Totally recommended.
I love mine it works very well!! I have had no problems it runs Remote Desktop very well with no lag, and does video editing very well. I am very happy with my decision to buy one!!
Nice video with good information. I have been using 14 inch M1 Pro for the last two months. Superb machine for photo and video editing...only issue I have is heating while using photo editing software. It gets heated very fast when is on "SKYPE" video conferencing...Hope Apple will handle this issue...
First off, "Pro max fast" lol!!! I've owned Mac laptops since 2006, but I just upgraded from the 12" MacBook a month ago and this is the first laptop that has replaced my PC desktop. I even had to buy a trackpad to use it with mouse and keyboard on a desk! I bought the mid-grade 14"(waited the extra month) and upgraded to 32gb as my old 12" had 16gb and I was scraping the ceiling sometimes. I run Windows 11 in Parallels along side MacOS for work and I have to say the experience us lovely. Keep making these videos, I like your content! Subscribed.
I thought long about it and you convinced me to get one 😊 I just ordered the 14“ M1 Pro 10c 16GB 1TB SSD in silver. I am used to work on a 15“-16“ model, but I chose the 14“ because of mobility reasons and I hope it doesn’t feel too small for me!
I have the mbp 13 m1 and mbp 16 m1 pro, as a software engineer I mostly work in dark themes, but I always end up taking my gaming laptop to coffees our outside because the matte screen has no reflection, and MacBook pro screens has huge reflections when the screen is black. I love the MacBook quality but not able to enjoy it because of that simple issue :(
That cheeky apple upsell call out haha. 🔥 Good review hre. I've watched a lot of reviews and you're the few ones who took time to explain how m1 chip is built different. Question: Do you think the 10 core was too powerful for your workload? I'm also a digital marketer / business owner and i'm thinking if I should just settle with the 8 core since I'm not really handing 4k video footage but I may be editing Prores footages soon.
Thanks Jarmaine! If you'll edit Prores footage, or 4K in the future, invest in the 10 core. Either way, it's a great laptop for business owners that don't like being bottlenecked by tech.
I would think that the GPU count affects video edits more so than CPU count. Not forgetting whichever option u choose comes with the ProRes encoder/decoder that speeds things up.
I’ve been working off an old 2014 13” MacBook Pro. So I’m way out of date but it’s been just a daily use laptop. However I do work from home now and will be getting more into creative work. So I’m finally considering doing a big upgrade and paying for high end model as obviously I keep for a long time
I wish the Macbook Pro remained thinner. I think by making it thicker, Apple has compromised its portability quite a lot especially in the case of the 14 inches model. I have a 13 inch 2012 model and a 15 inch 2015 model. This new 14-inch model is more like the 13 inches 2012 model in terms of weight and thickness (two of the biggest downside of the 2012 model in an era when ultrabooks were getting borned).
I'm looking to upgrade my iMac 27" i7 with 12GB RAM. Been looking at the 14 inch MacBook Pro for $2,000 as my Christmas gift. Can't think of any other computer that I want, I originally wanted an iMac 27" but I don't like the new 24" Colored ones so that's out. And the 16 Inch is too expensive for me. $2,000 seems like a perfect price for me and this laptop should last me another 5 years.
Great review! Also love the nato strap! Where is it from??? I have been trying to find similar strap. It reminds me of the blancpain FF bathyscape nato.
Hello, If you work with your laptop all day long, every day... what do you think will happen to the battery ? Are you using the battery or is it plugged in all the time? What do you recommend? 🤔
Great one! I was wondering if there is much ghosting/halo effect when coding in dark mode with a black background and white text due to the mini LED back lighting.
I'm waiting for my 16" 2021 MacBook Pro with 2TB SSD storage and 64GB unified memory. Perhaps a little more than I really need for my use cases in video and audio editing, and general business stuff, but I have to admit, I'm excited about getting it next month, and I look forward to using it for many years to come. I'm upgrading from a 2018 MacBook Pro that I really haven't enjoyed, particularly the keyboard. The points you brought up in the video were things I noticed immediately when playing with the 2021 MacBook Pro in the store. By the way, nicely done video. Keep up the great work!
Nothing is ever too much with tech, I guess. These devices can never be future-proofed as there is always something "extra", so you're good. Appreciate the support!
I am waiting for my 16" 2022 MBP with the same specifications. I believe that it is better to have more, if you can afford it, and not use it, then not have enough and regret it. The butterfly keyboard on my 2016 MBP 15" on an otherwise very good laptop is driving me crazy.
Pro Max Fast! Mine arrives on Tuesday, as my 2013 MBP has been hanging on by a thread. Personally, I like the look, and the return of the ports and all the other good stuff (no/low fan noise? awesome!) makes for a real quality of life upgrade. Great review, thanks!
Not good for programmers that work on projects that are based on .net frameworks that are older than .net6. These frameworks are not designed to be able to run on arm64 architecture. And even though you can get around it by using Parallels most of the time nothing runs smoothly and it adds an extra cost for the Parallels subscription. Unfortunately .net6 is very new and most programmers work mostly on projects that are based on those older frameworks.
thanks for your video and the comparisons to the 13" which I am also coming from. Undecided on my purchase yet as I haven't tried to edit any videos yet, I do appreciate the bigger screen louder speakers and ports but is it worth the price difference??
Awesome video! After more than a year use, how are you finding the scratches and finger prints on the space grey? I like the space grey but heard so many people talking about scratches, fingerprints and colour fading. anyone have any opinions?
The M1 air with 16gb ram and 512 gb ssd costs me around 1500 Euros, the M2 Air with the same config costs almost 2000 Euros just the same as the 14 M1 pro. I have started video editing as a hobby and currently use my desktop pc (R5 5600x, 3080, 32gb ram) for that but I want something as well for the go since I am often on the go. Which model would you recommend me? I want to keep the device at least for 5 yrs.
I just ordered the 8 core 14" pro and I'm a music producer/student but I'm a little nervous that it won't perform as well as I need it to for my music? I hope I'm just being paranoid. It will be my first Apple product ever.
Waiting for the ultra long term "is it still worth it" review after 2 months! 🤣 Loved the many different camera angles and settings, almost like an at-home experience. The MacBook Pro 2021 has not arrived yet near my place (Vietnam) so looking forward to seeing it in RL!
Coming soon! 😂 Given the cost to acquire such a device, a monthly review might be helpful. I'll see if I can shoot a 1 year Ultra, Pro, Max long term user review 🤓😅

I'd love Face ID to come to the Mac, however, it's not going to come via a software update. Face ID relies on 3 major sensors (Dot Projector, Flood Illuminator, and an IR Camera, which the 2021 MBP models lack) to create a 3D depth map of a user's face.
Meh, it literally takes 1 second to touch the button. It’s really not needed.
I finally saw in person yesterday when i went to the apple store to get my airpods fixed and i fell in love with it. Definitely gonna trade in my 2019 intel 13 inch macbook pro for the base model 14 inch hopefully next year.
just ordered this same version! BTW Killer shots of your Tudor Black Bay :)
Great review - likely the best I have seen on this MacBook 14”. Good work 🤗
Does everyone forget the fact that many people switch from often 15,4" notebooks?
I’m waiting on mine to arrive tomorrow. I have the same configuration and I’m happy that this will be my first Pro Max Fast.😉
Enjoy your new purchase, you'll love it!
I constantly used PC Laptops until october when my sister got the 13 inch macbook m1... now I got the 14' M1 pro and it's freaking amazing. Also with parallels I didn't lose any software from windows and I can even play PC games (which positively surprised me). Totally recommended.
Hi, did you get the 16gb ram or would you recommend 32gb ram to run parallels? Thanks.
@@sohosterable 16gb is more than enough
I love mine it works very well!! I have had no problems it runs Remote Desktop very well with no lag, and does video editing very well. I am very happy with my decision to buy one!!
Thanks for sharing! Glad to know it works well for you. 👍
my work just got these for us as work laptops. hypeddd
🔥🔥🔥🔥
The M1 MacBook Pro is lightweight and incredible for everything except advanced 4k video editing
My dream laptop 🚀
Nice video with good information. I have been using 14 inch M1 Pro for the last two months. Superb machine for photo and video editing...only issue I have is heating while using photo editing software. It gets heated very fast when is on "SKYPE" video conferencing...Hope Apple will handle this issue...
Excited to start working on my startup and work on my dream game in this pro max fast beast of a laptop 🥺
I don't think they are ugly at all. I love the way they look.
Subscribed.
Great to hear it's working well for you! Thanks for the sub 🥳
hey its a great buy in 2023 ....I just got one brand new for 1679 GBP .. best Mac I've ever had 😎
Hi, have you hd any issues regarding ssd external hard drive. Like the external hard drive operates a lot slower while connected. pease let me know.
Hi can u pls say wheather M1 pro or max is better
I thought long about it and you convinced me to get one 😊 I just ordered the 14“ M1 Pro 10c 16GB 1TB SSD in silver. I am used to work on a 15“-16“ model, but I chose the 14“ because of mobility reasons and I hope it doesn’t feel too small for me!
It's a great all-rounder because of the portability and specs. A little time to get used to a smaller screen but you'll definitely get through it. 😆
Looks so sweet! Can’t wait to check out mine when it arrives.
Hope you enjoy it!
Spoiled. I remember carrying thick books everyday to school and didn’t complain. What a world have we become!
Thanks for this great review, Andrew!
Depending on what you will use it for, you can really get your ROI if you use it for 5 years.
Pro Max Fast!! I want to ask you a question though do you think there is a better laptop than the MacBook Pro 14 inch? In value of course.
The 13" M1 if you can snag one on discount.
@@AndrewEthanZeng air or pro?
Great review! Also love the nato strap! Where is it from??? I have been trying to find similar strap. It reminds me of the blancpain FF bathyscape nato.
Awesome review, thanks! Which desk pad do you have? I love it.
The MacBooks really are getting way too good 🥵 Great review!
They are and they better be! 🍎 Appreciate the support.
Hello,
If you work with your laptop all day long, every day... what do you think will happen to the battery ? Are you using the battery or is it plugged in all the time? What do you recommend?
🤔
Great video! haven't watched any review from you until now - thank you!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
What model you choice?
The butterfly keyboard on my 2016 MBP 15" on an otherwise very good laptop is driving me crazy.
great review!! thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Good choice! That 2013 MBP lasted you long enough to deserve this upgrade! 💪
Apple managed to build such a good chip in house first time due to them working for a few years with arm to design their new chip :)
thanks for your video and the comparisons to the 13" which I am also coming from. Undecided on my purchase yet as I haven't tried to edit any videos yet, I do appreciate the bigger screen louder speakers and ports but is it worth the price difference??
Good to see a long term review, I’m about convinced I need to cop now.
P.S. Fire intro + soundtrack! 🔥❤️🔥
Appreciate it!!
Awesome video! After more than a year use, how are you finding the scratches and finger prints on the space grey? I like the space grey but heard so many people talking about scratches, fingerprints and colour fading. anyone have any opinions?
Face id coming in future software update?? faceId as in iphone require special camera that is not included in this mac, no software can replace that.
I have that exact configuration....it's a sweet deal!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
200 hrs is long term?
Thanks for this video! I love your honesty regarding this MacBook 🙌🏻
I hate the thicker design lol n miss the touchbar
The M1 air with 16gb ram and 512 gb ssd costs me around 1500 Euros, the M2 Air with the same config costs almost 2000 Euros just the same as the 14 M1 pro. I have started video editing as a hobby and currently use my desktop pc (R5 5600x, 3080, 32gb ram) for that but I want something as well for the go since I am often on the go. Which model would you recommend me? I want to keep the device at least for 5 yrs.
Nice job. I am considering buying one. Thanks for keeping it simple for a baby boomer with very little tick knowledge.
Ummm what pen is that and where do I get it?!
Great review. Super informative
I just ordered the 8 core 14" pro and I'm a music producer/student but I'm a little nervous that it won't perform as well as I need it to for my music? I hope I'm just being paranoid. It will be my first Apple product ever.
I’m confused is it the standard or the custom?
Waiting for the ultra long term "is it still worth it" review after 2 months! 🤣 Loved the many different camera angles and settings, almost like an at-home experience. The MacBook Pro 2021 has not arrived yet near my place (Vietnam) so looking forward to seeing it in RL!
Coming soon! 😂 Given the cost to acquire such a device, a monthly review might be helpful. I'll see if I can shoot a 1 year Ultra, Pro, Max long term user review 🤓😅
Shucks! I would have gotten your Mac and brought it to you. I've always wanted to visit Vietnam and maybe move there. :-)
Another great vid from my fav tech youtuber 😉
Wow, thanks!
Pro max fast! Great review. thank you!!!
Great video! Thanks for sharing - looks like this would be amazing upgrade for our creative studio! Pro Max Fast BTW 😀
Totally! Thanks for watching!
you do know, thickness does not equal to height right? so yea, it is just visually taller because the rubber feet prompts it up higher.
Safari now supports Pro Motion, could you do a short video showing that? Thanks!
