When I look at his opening the display in the video (tense throughout) it doesn't look like my issue. Can anyone comment about your MacBook Pro and let me know if there is "play" when opening and closing? There's also a little "shimmy" when opening up the display. Thank you.
Totally agree. I used to own a m1 MacBook air and the main pain points for me were the limitations of the ports, the inability to use more than 1 external monitor (not due to hardware limitations, just because apple decided to not allow more than 1 external monitor).
I've had the 16" with 10 core CPU/16 core GPU 16GB ram & 1TB for about 3 weeks now & I've been loving almost everything about it, except the weight is killing me!!! I'm hoping there will be more 14" in stock then, so I can exchange it.

Hey all, I've gone through maybe 3 Macbook 14s and they all seem to have a sound crackling issue when playing video/audio on RUclips/apple music, Spotify etc. There are reddit forums on this issue how come no one talks about this?
The LG 38WN95C-W, which I think is what you're using, pairs very well with the 16-inch in my opinion. Perfect video editing workstation. And when I don't have the laptop connected, I just switch it to DisplayPort and have it connected to my PC.
How much more powerful is the 14" Pro to the Air M1? There's a few things selling me, the better screen, the magsafe, I assume better battery? I'm just trying to decide if it's all worth the extraa £800-£900
Does having the laptops on charge most of the time, looking to replace my iMac, deleteriously affect the battery life? I've heard the OSX has a way of handling this thereby preventing wear on the battery. And if you were mainly using it for audio production then the base model with, say 32gb rams would be more than enough?
Hi tech chap, hoe are these laptops for engineering programs like Autocad, Revit, 3D rendering and do you really need a m1max chip? How is this laptop compared to others like Dell XPS, Asus etc?
I have changed 3 units in three weeks because all of them "click" whenever I rest my palm near the trackpad or touch the aluminium body in specific points. Imagine a snapping, high pitch sound, like frozen ice dropped in warm water. Have you had the same issue? The Apple Store I have returned the device at has told me "if this clicking sound is present in every unit, and you don't like it, maybe it is not the right laptop for you". I replied with "if you buy a car and the wheel squeaks every time you turn it, is it a shitty car or are you to blame?". Previous to this laptop, I had the 2016 Touch Bar 15". I had to conduct 6 keyboard and display free of charge substitutions. Ultimately, I ran out of warranty coverage and they asked me 600€ to change the display, which was broken due to flexgate. Really, a continuous disappointment. I am thinking about purchasing a late 2015 MBP. At least I'll have a stable machine…
Tom is there any Intel laptop that comes close this for video editing? I'm looking to go more mobile and really considering this. But I quite dislike Apple and their compatibility with standard Windows PCs. That's why I have never bought an iphone.

This video was so helpful! Thanks for taking the time and effort to do this! My biggest question is. Would it make more sense to buy a 16" M1pro 10 core/16gpu 32gb or a 14" M1max 10core/24core 32gb. I use after effects and Premiere. Thoughts?
For anyone wondering about this, I have stress test videos that show that it's not worth getting the M1 max on the 14" because the cooling system isn't as big. The 16" get a lot more performance out of the higher specced chips, so if you're going for power like that then get the 16" as you'll have a cooler machine that can actually ramp up to get te advertised performance.
Hey Chaps! Would you get the 14 or the 16?? (or neither!)

When I look at his opening the display in the video (tense throughout) it doesn't look like my issue. Can anyone comment about your MacBook Pro and let me know if there is "play" when opening and closing? There's also a little "shimmy" when opening up the display. Thank you.
So for Final Cut Pro RUclips editing, get the 16Max?
If the M1 MacBook Air had more useful ports and MagSafe, as my 2017 MBA does, I might consider it. Perhaps in the next iteration...one can only hope.
Totally agree. I used to own a m1 MacBook air and the main pain points for me were the limitations of the ports, the inability to use more than 1 external monitor (not due to hardware limitations, just because apple decided to not allow more than 1 external monitor).
Thanks for the advice! I ended up getting the base 14 with 2 tb ssd storage
How is it going? Is the memory sufficient? I’m about to get the same thing as you.
I've had the 16" with 10 core CPU/16 core GPU 16GB ram & 1TB for about 3 weeks now & I've been loving almost everything about it, except the weight is killing me!!! I thought I could get used to it, but the more I've used it, the more it's bothered me. I'm planning to exchange it after the holiday rush. I'm hoping there will be more 14" in stock then, so I can exchange it.
I still can’t decide what size to get, but I really want 16”. Did you exchanged it? I will use my laptop mostly at home, I have iMac 27 on my desk, but I want something to be able work in bed / coach / kitchen. Do you think 16” is ok for working in bed? I never working in coffeeshop / library, just need something for working in bed when I tired to sit at desk. I scared 14” will be a bit small screen
@@DIVERGENTSMC Do you near a Best Buy or Apple store? I would honestly recommend going to a store and seeing both sides in person. I wish I had done that before I got mine. The moment I saw the 14” in the Apple store, I knew I had made a mistake, but I didn’t want to wait a few weeks for it.
@@karaygeoushearts yeah I saw them in person, and I feel like 16” just too huge size, and 14” looks just very balanced size. But my “mind” still thinks like bigger = better 😅 probably I should go in store again, and check size difference again, thanks for advice
@@DIVERGENTSMC I would try to pick one up and feel the weight difference. I really wish I had done that.
@@karaygeoushearts I had some troubles to choose iPad Pro 11 vs 12.9. I wished to 12.9 but once I tried to hold in my hands I was like….no, no thanks it’s just too heavy for iPad. I go for 11” and I’m happy with my choice. Now it’s hard to pick MacBook size, I have old windows laptop 14” size and I feel it just ok, balanced and very convenient size. But I think I go for 16” this time, because anyway I use it at home, and for long continuous work I will enjoy larger screen more. My 14” Windows laptop I always used connected to external monitor, this time I want to use it without external monitor, so…
What movie was at 11:30?
I bought the 16" M1 base. Love it, best laptops you can buy as Tom said.
which desk is that?
great review Tom! especially liked the step by step analysis of which mac to prefer and why - reason 1 is this, reason 2 is that etc., very helpful
Good to hear!
Hello brother, big fan, btw what's the desk name at 0:13 mark?
Mind telling me what game you were playing at 1:36?
Forza Horizon 5
I watched your consol video I have question. What are your Thoughts on the Nintendo switch?
Sorry two more question, what model is your external screen and have you done a review on it?
Lg 38wn95c, I reviewed it about 9 months ago
Hey, at 1:37, were you using Cloud Gaming to play FH5? If so, which platform?
Question : can you connect via thunderbolt to a monitor and get at the same time power on your MacBook ?
Or MacBook charges only via this magnet magsafe ?
This is a breeze to watch, very easy going type of flow this guy has. Subbed
Hi. For your mac 16 max did you go with 32 or 64 ram? And why? What are the specs for your build?
Nice setup. Hope an updated tour will be coming soon.
I’m looking to go into computer science next year in college and I was wondering which computer you would recommend for me
How to get the Wallpaper like the one in the Thumbnail??
Tom, what colour would you recommend in the 16” mbp?
What cable do you use to output 144hz on your monitor?
16" Pro... haven't touched my PC either except for gaming... not sure that will ever change
Likely will not.
I still feel late 2013 macbook pro 15inch was the best in terms of dimensions and keyboard.
Great, ordered 14", didn't know that its possible to play forza, how did you download it ?
Man, that was a good car ad. I hope they payed you well for that.
Superb video and I didn’t even want to watch it as I had already bought THE 16 inch Max 32GB 1TB. I do 3D work and use After Effects so I’m happy with the decision, and your review seems to mostly support that. Cheers Tom
Hello, I want to send you a footage of my new MacBook pr 14 inch I would like to know what u think if its a glitch due to software or hardware
Does the 14" run hot? I have a 2018 13" and when I'm livestreaming or torrent files the fan gets loud and hot.
Yep that’s the one!
How much more powerful is the 14" Pro to the Air M1?
There's a few things selling me, the better screen, the magsafe, I assume better battery? I'm just trying to decide if it's all worth the extraa £800-£900
Hey there, awesome video, as always.
Quick question, what desk is this?
Has HDR stopped working on RUclips on the new MBP's for anyone else?
Does having the laptops on charge most of the time, looking to replace my iMac, deleteriously affect the battery life? I've heard the OSX has a way of handling this thereby preventing wear on the battery. And if you were mainly using it for audio production then the base model with, say 32gb rams would be more than enough?
Hi tech chap, hoe are these laptops for engineering programs like Autocad, Revit, 3D rendering and do you really need a m1max chip? How is this laptop compared to others like Dell XPS, Asus etc?
Very nicely done!
Hey, very informative video thanks, I was wondering what mac you would suggest for a home-working professional Photoshop retoucher?
Your videos are amazing!!!
Nice review! What is the name of the external display you use/recommend?
🆙🆙Thanks for watching
🔝🔝 message right away I have something for you🆙🆙🆙🆙
Hey tom just need a suggestion i am doing light gaming like call of duty PUBG GTA 5 and i edit 1080p or sometimes 4K which chip u would recommend to me for MacBook pro?
That was an ad? Felt like a bonus car review!
Hi! Would an M1 Max chip make any difference for Adobe Photoshop performance, or is it similar to Lightroom where that won’t matter? Thanks!
This video was so helpful! Thanks for taking the time and effort to do this! My biggest question is. Would it make more sense to buy a 16" M1pro 10 core/16gpu 32gb or a 14" M1max 10core/24core 32gb. I use after effects and Premiere. Thoughts?
Did you make a decision yet? Kinda contemplating on same thing lol
Same here 😁
@@sanjayjeta551 16" with M1 Pro better bet, 14" with Max will throttle + much worse battery life.
I just bought a 14” pro with M1 max chip and 64gb of memory hope it was worth it
wallpaper link please!
What happened to the audio quality of this video?
MKBHD videos feel good working bro 👑 you deserve 1000000 subs
Great video and I’d like to see you do more car stuff like the Hyundia Ioniq
16 inch is a no go for me due to travel all the time. I really wished they offered the 64GB option with M1 Pro though.
