What a brilliant rom-com! With touches of suspense & action. (The fight scenes are among the best I've seen.) A-list stars ⭐⭐⭐George Raft & the exquisite but now little-remembered Dolores Costello (Barrymore); here in her heyday, when married to John Barrymore. Plus an early break-out role for a very young Ida Lupino: who steals the show playing the double-character of a rough-&-tumble con artist, who passes as a fake socialite! Not to mention dear old Reginald Owen as her fatherly accomplice. ,⭐⭐⭐👍👍👍
Just watched this again, 3rd time. Love these old films, whenever I need pure entertainment. A good story, funny gags, excellent acting from all. Slick and beautiful: Raft plus Costello and Lupino!
Me & Saratoga (James Glesson) Had Alot in Common If U Run Ur Mouth & Act Tough Enough U Don't Have 2Be😂.. Size of him he was like a match stick man.. GREAT ACTOR 1 OF THE BEST..
There are two sides , if raft was at Warner Brothers in his early years , based on his star making performance in Scarface, he might have been cast in early gangster movies like Robinson and Cagney, Paramount signed him and he was able to have more versatile parts playing lots of romantic leads but with a tough guy personality. Not a killer type. He went to Warner in the late 1930s and played in tough guy roles. He was as it turned out known for this.
If anyone bothers to scratch below the surface, this film will reward you. It zeros in on the indefinables of love, their deceptions and their victories. Both actresses bring the best to their roles. The comedic element cheapens their success.
She left Barrymore and then her eyesight was damaged by the lights used and her skin damage caused by the makeup and lived in semi seclusion. A serious fire destroyed much of her memorabilia
Love this. George is irresistible

A small comedic triumph with Raft dancing the dream.

30's music so good!!!
Excellent acting, story, gawd I luv George Raft..they don't make em like that any more😉💖
Ida Lupino was the most under-rated actress of her generation. She simply dazzles in this role. Irresistble.
The young Raft, great leading man
Great fun! Thanks for sharing this with us.

Thankyou 🎉
I have no idea why Dolores Costello did not continue to star in talking pictures. No Hollywood actress was more elegant than she
Love George Raft; he always looked like he could handle himself in a fight.

Se è possibile avere la traduzione in italiano grazie 😊😊😊
Battymore is nothing short of a leading Hollywood beauty. What happened to her?
She left Barrymore and then her eyesight was damaged by the lights used and her skin damage caused by the makeup and lived in semi seclusion. A serious fire destroyed much of her memorabilia
