What if the word doc has more than one page? It’s only adding the title page when I import it this way
Good question. So the document doesn't take up more of your Excel workspace than necessary, Excel will only display the initial page of your document. To view the remaining pages of your Word document double click it and you can scroll down the other pages.

How would you get info from a word doc into excel without it staying as a word doc? I'm trying to run vlookups but the info is in word. Cutting and pasting isn't working either. Thanks
Hi, good question. If your word document does not contain pictures, save the word document as a text file (.txt) and then from Excel select data > from text and select the text file you saved. Let me know if this is successful and good luck!

Insert>object did not exist…typical. Dead end for me.
That is unusual. What version of Word are you using?
