NHL: OT Goals to win the Stanley Cup

- Опубликовано: 31 дек 2016
- Happy New Year 2017! In honor of the NHL celebrating its 100th anniversary, I decided to make this video NHL related. These are all of the overtime goals that won the Stanley Cup for a team. I was able to get all but 3 of them:
Mush March- 1934
Bryan Hextall- 1940
Toe Blake- 1944
I hope you enjoy this video. Also, I do not own any of these clips. They belong to NHL/NHL.com, CBC Sports, NBC Sports, and ESPN. - Спорт
good video
Thank you! I truly appreciate it!

this must be the BEST way to win a cup. can you just imagine the anxiety and desperation knowing next goal is the golden ticket to reward all your life's work?
Pretty dope
But for the goalie it’s scored against I can’t even imagine
@@anonymoose5792 it's crazy to think how much the goalie has to do. Not only be as spry as a cheetah but also need to maintain mental health and try and not let it affect them. I always feel bad for the goalie lmao
We lost league champs in ot this year ik its not as close as the stanley cup but boy that hurt
Every hockey fan who has became a pro payeds dream
Imagine how Kane felt, being the ONLY GUY to realize that they just won the Stanley cup, just the pure excitement that only you have for a brief moment
its funny to see blank boards in the early years then watch them slowly take over
Yeah that's true
I play hockey
Why did it take so long for that to happen
Pathologically Friendly because not every game was televised back then so the investment for advertising was pretty much worthless. Most people that saw them were fans attending games and even then, half of the ads weren’t visible to some of them. Sorry that this reply is late haha
The crowd chanting "We want the CUP" leading up to the Martinez goal, just awesome!
Alec Martinez's goal is classic
The announcers get more and more hyped as the years go by LOL
Poor lundqvist (don’t know how to spell his name) just sitting there in a pile of sticks and gloves after they scored looks so depressing.
Sticks, n, Tricks yeah. He basically carried the team there. And yes, you spelled it right
Same. I’m also a rangers fan
PetterssonBae
As sad as it is to say, that's probably the closest he'll ever get to Lord Stanley, and I'm pretty sure he knew that as he lay there. Both him and Roberto Luongo are probably going to go down as one of the best goaltenders to have never won it all.
@@treymagathan847 as someone who used to be a fan of the Canucks, Luongo was insane sometimes, but other times he just let easy goal after easy goal in. He did do exceptionally well at the 2010 Olympics though.
@@treymagathan847 Roberto is part of the Panthers Organization. While no longer a player, he is an executive so, if Fla wins it , he'll get his ring but no name on the Cup.
The Crowd back then sounded so weird
Shoutout to Kane for skating to his goalie to celebrate :)
Don't think the goalie believed it was actually a goal!
@@harrybhalbag9924 nobody thought it was a goal lmao
I feel so bad for lunqvist
i know right
If Wide World of Sports was still a thing, that shot of Lundquist after the goal would totally represent "the agony of defeat."
Maybe for Lunqvist but not Kreider because he hurt Price
everyone does. i may even think islanders and devils fan have too. im a sharks fan and i love lunqvist and i just wish he won a cup, out of all NHL players i think he desveres it most
WHat makes it worst that the king has to watch his defeat by a tip of his teammate that defects off Lundqvist's pad then alex scores on the rebound. R.I.P
Bobby Orr I mean come on.. that cross crease goal and jumping celebration.. the best
As a Rangers fan. Martinez’s goal will forever make me cry. Lol
At least you aren’t a Sabres fan (like me) and have to have that cheap no goal by Brett Hull haunt you forever
As you can see by my profile picture, I am a bruins fan. In your face 1970 blues!
I still crying from 2013 and 2019
i was at that game and it was the coolest moment of my life ( i’m a kings fan btw)
@@james.calderone I'm a stars fan lol
LA freakin exploded when Martinez scored!
0:04 Bill Cook 1933 (New York Rangers)
0:15 Pete Babando 1950 (Detroit Red Wings)
0:29 Bill Barilko 1951 (Toronto Maple Leafs)
0:43 Elmer Lach 1953 (Montreal Canadiens)
0:59 Tony Leswick 1954 (Detroit Red Wings)
1:18 Henri Richard 1966 (Montreal Canadiens)
1:32 Bobby Orr 1970 (Boston Bruins)
2:22 Jacques Lemaire 1977 (Montreal Canadiens)
2:57 Bob Nystrom 1980 (New York Islanders)
3:22 Uwe Krupp 1996 (Colorado Avalanche)

4:20 Jason Arnott 2000 (New Jersey Devils)
4:51 Patrick Kane 2010 (Chicago Blackhawks)
5:23 Alec Martinez 2014 (Los Angeles Kings)
Incidentally the player that scored for the 1951 Maple Leafs is the subject of a famous Tragically Hip song
Alec Martinez
Rebound, shoots, scores, throws stick, throws gloves, JAZZ HANDS!
You can see the Evolution of TV
OT game 7 in the finals must be more stressful than almost anything
Bobby Orr, Bob Nystrum, and Alec Martinez were my favorite ot goals
rangers fans get PTSD every time they see that clip 🤣
As an islanders fan, I love watching that clip of the kings winning the cup, it just makes me feel so warm and happy inside 🥰
As a rangers fan you will never make it to the cup😂
@@justgaming9233 Except for that time where they, oh, idk, won four straight in arguably the most legendary dynasty in NHL history?
@@aksis2133 fans will talk about the 80s forever. Yeah they were legendary. Doesn’t change the fact that the team has been utterly incompetent since then and hasn’t even made a cup without that specific core of players. But hey blurry videos from 40 years ago of some guys most of the fanbase never even saw play live works too.
Good thing the Islanders haven’t done shit since the 80s aside from being one of the most pathetic franchises in sports, at least we won one and made it to another. Islanders fans are pathetic, y’all are worse than Dallas Cowboys fans with bringing up the past😂😂 we live rent free in your heads
@@jtsotta27 1994
In the 1999 Stanley Cup Finals, Buffalo go screwed over!
Couldn't agree more.
I used to think so too, until i realized that the goal should have counted. Hull left the crease before he scored and only entered afterward once the puck entered. Was a good goal.
Stu Pidas are you a meth heard by chance?
Deadass A Headass The rule was changed part way through the season.
You’re a meth head.
the crease rule had changed part way through that season. Shitty way to lose the Cup but it counted.
By golly the red wings player shot the puck past the goaltender! It seems like they’ve won!
i remember being around 7-8 in 2010 living in chicago where i was born and still am and just seeing my dad jump up on the couch screaming almost in tears from how happy he was. he was born in 61 so he was never able to see them win the cup until then and he is the biggest hawks fan i know.
Love your content
And a grinder kicks off that islanders dynasty...
Nystrom
Nordiques and North Stars fans must hate this video.
Probably Nordiques fans the most, because Colorado won it the first year after they left Quebec.
Thank you - this must have taken a LOT of work to compile!
Josie Lindström thank you!
NICE AND MAZIN G
0:08 old days: Crowd claps
Nowadays: everyone loses their mind
old days: *tickets are a few hundred at max*
nowadays: *50 racks for a family of 4*
Shahaan my uncle has a ticket from the 1980 Stanley Cup Final from game 4 in NY and the ticket was $36 to sit in the lower bowl
Go Go Number 4, Bobby Orr has left the floor.
Go Bruins!
2014 kings ot winner to win the Stanley cup is my favourite
Man. This really shows how much more coveted the cup has become over the years!
Even 1977 looks like a regular season win when compared to the reactions in 2014.
I really hope we get another this year...I want Mark Stone to experience it. Could you even *imagine* his facial expression?! 🤣
1977 was won away in Boston, 2014 was won at home in LA.
1:49 Love that jump
That’s Bobby Orr! The best Bruin ever!
I’m a Canucks fan and Lundqvist I feel so bad for 😭
I can't even imagine the stress as a player or fan for a Cup Final game 7 that goes to OT.
5:30 SOMEONE HUG ME!!!!!
The skate. Was in. The crease.
Luke Sheehan I know. As a Sabres fan it hurts to watch
I subbed
1:40 the real 2019 SCF😤😤😤😤
Imagine being the ref in the kings game just watching the guys go crazy
Ya know the feeling of winning the championship is amazing... we didnt win in ot we didnt even take the lead late in the game.. infact we blew them right out of the water... but when that final buzzer goes off... it just feels like the whole world stops and the spotlight is on you and you're team.
if you wanna go that far def not you, just ur team lmfao
Nice video
Thank you! I appreciate it.
James Calderone You gars nice
I SUBSCIBE AND A LIKE 😀
Thanks again! Means a lot. What does "gars" mean? Just curious.
You are so nice
The difference between the furst and last are insane when it comes to fans
This is why they need to do the stanley cup finals somewhere that isn't either one of the teams "home ice". that way you wont get any fan advantage and when you do get that OT winner you wont hear the sound of crickets in the background.
✪ KnZ sometimes that’s the beauty of it. Hockey is filled with emotions and that can really emphasize the feeling of defeat
Please let there be a game 7 ot in the Stanley cup finals one day in the modern hockey era
way to control the rebound there hank
the last one was a Heart breaker I'm a Ranger Fan also a Golden Knights
Sportsplayer 109 wagonnnnnn
Adam Chopstick could be a knights bandwagon. A rangers bandwagoner would’ve probably left the rangers fan base
@@Adam-lf6nh A bandwagon would NOT be a rangers fan lmao (coming from a huge rangers fan myself)
zFaTeX Exactly, that's so true. Especially since we have 1 cup in the last 79 years. 😬
Hard to live in Vegas and NY you WAGON
Behind the net to Sanderson, to Orr! Bobby Orr!
I hate how many of these aren't at home
Is this in order old to new
Yes it is!
I still get nightmares after that patrick kane goal
Must be a flyers fan right?
Appearance of game looks more different contrasting 1970s to 1990s than it does 1990s to present
Indeed it does!
Pathologically Friendly
Evolution of the game, especially the goaltenders. Look at the difference in the padding between Patrick Roy in 1986 and Pekka Rinne today. Night and day.
Trey Magathan also, it’s kind of funny to see skaters without helmets....always thought it was crazy that not only they were optional, but that so many players chose not to wear them.
James Calderone
Technology is truly a wonderful thing. I'd say that technological advancement/ingenuity has changed the game of hockey more than anything else. With goaltenders getting more protective padding, they're more likely to make saves they normally would have let through. This leads to innovating scoring strategies (neutral zone trap; 1993), making new rules to better fit a league contingent on defense (smaller neutral zone; 1993), and so on and so forth. Ingenuity breeds change.
those first clips, What years? jesus
1933, 1950, 1951, and 1953. However, if you read the description, I'm missing three clips from: 1934, 1940, and 1944.
Bobby Orr.....The best...EVER!!
One day I want to see a game 7 OT in the SCF
Someday…
Me who lost 2 championships this way in 2 years in a row😢
4:00 why are you showing a goal that didn't count?
It was painful too but unfortunately I had to
2:26 does that guy have a cold?
@2:45 no handshake?
If goalies wore the same equipment they did back than now players would score 100+ goals a season
Skylar Forrest yeah, they also had no butterfly either
The Stars were on both sides of this in back to back years
how about that?
Us Sabres fans are still heartbroken
Yes. I am a Sabres fan. I know all too well.
@@james.calderone and it sucks even more that you’re team sucks bad this year 😔
@@jackson3068 we suck every year. We’ve been rebuilding since 2012….I feel like we don’t make any progress anymore. Basically this decades version of the 2000’s Oilers
5:00 - Such a soft low energy win.
Not Kane's fault that he was the only one who knew he scored.
No one knew that it went in at first. It got stuck in the back if the net and was hard to see. Kane was the only one that knew at first
Hands-down the most awkward and anti-climactic OT goal in modern NHL history. 🤦♂️
5:34
I came here for Bobby Orr
why at 6:17 they were singing Go Leafs Go?!?
I have no idea, I never even noticed that....
Oh wait I did, they were saying "Go Kings Go!"
I heard it too...
I’m a Kings fan, our chant is “Go Kings Go”
You Tube suggested video covering up the slow motion replay of the Kings win, fucking irritating as hell.
the goalies were so bad
1960: and the detroit red wings have won the stanley cup.😐
2007: AND THE MONTREAL CANADIANS HAVE WON THE STANLEY CUP!!!!!!😆
You scroed a goal like that you gone be drunk all night and free cocaine
Offsides
Do nhl broken. Stick goals
Alright I'll try to find some clips and I'll let you know if I post it
James Calderone can you also do NHL own goals.
I will also look into that as well. That should be a bit easier
ruclips.net/video/xSfl41jic1Q/видео.html
James Calderone it says the viedo is blocked.
#controversial goal 1999
Jace burnett76 yes it was. As a Sabres fan, it was super hard for me to post, but hey, in the history books in counts. I just hate the way that the refs dealt with it.
James Calderone As a Cleveland sports fan, I can relate. I'm so happy we won the 2016 NBA Finals.
Nope. Crease rule had changed part way though that season. It was a good goal.
Twig they modified the rule before then removed it after
fucking martinez, all rangers fans got ptsd from him
Score Bobby orr
Ok you Hawks fan
Brett Hull sealed the deal to get rid of the skate in crease rule. Dumbest rule ever
Hawks shoulda been in the Stanley Cup against the Rangers, it was a missed call that kept the Hawks out
Hahaha OT WINNER !
Paul WT all and all man. It was an amazing battle
You guys won three Stanley Cups quit complaining
Yeah,love that Lundqvist face plant
Announcers were so boring in the 30s
God some of the goals given up back in the day were trash.
Kane’s was the best hands down
penguins destroyed the 91 and 91 cups no need for ot lol
91 and 91? Or 91 and 92?
Hugh Tahoob
Hello, Hugh. The Penguins needed OT for plenty of playoff games in 2008, 2009, 2016, and 2017, so don't act high and mighty. Don't forget that the 1992 Stanley Cup Finals was against an 8 seed that only had Mike Modano and a bunch of depth pieces, so if any of those games went to OT, something went seriously wrong.
