At first glance it might not look good on Toronto to have such an old goal in this video, but that is one of the most storied goals in NHL history! Incase anyone reading this hasnt heard the song 'Fifty Mission Cap' heres a quick rundown: First, it was a Cup winner, but it was also the last goal Barilko would ever score. That summer, he went missing somewhere out in Ontario on a fishing trip. It was discovered much later that he tragically died in a plane crash while flying back from the trip. The Leafs did not win another Stanley Cup until the very year his remains and the plane wreck were discovered, 11 years later.
Ray Whitney involved in two of these shows just how underrated he was. Scoring over 1000 points yet nobody ever even mentioned him or took notice. Honestly I think that helped him score that much. He had the talent but nobody ever thought it was worth to put extra focus on him that they usually do with such gifted scorers.
id argue Kuzy's goal to beat the Pens and finally get over that hump is bigger than Ovie's goal in a game that was already won and really meant nothing other than an amazing goal
S Orcutt actually the Kuzy goal to me was more specifically the Dave Roberts steal in that as the play unfolded time seemed to stand still. Wrong. The most iconic blues goal is when Maroon scored in double overtime to beat the stars in game 7. The entire city knew it was our year at that point.
@@jordananderson8829 it wasn't cuz the refs admitted it shouldn't have counted but they werent gonna stop once everyone was already on the ice, the camera crews and everything but carry on. there is a reason they changed the rule.
@@epicragegaming2016 lol they absolutely did not. The reason it counted was because the nhl changed the crease rule half way though the season to so that a player with possession of the puck could enter the crease after the puck. Hull controlled his own rebound so he never lost possession and had every right to enter the crease after the puck.
You know what? Give me Forsberg's empty netter to finish the series against the Ducks in '17. It may not have been a ridiculous OT game winner--but I'd sure call it memorable.
I used to like watching leafs games when cujo was the goalie. After that theyve just been meh. But I'm a person that if its not bolts then I'm watching the game for the goalie not the goals.
Puck went in goal prior to his foot entering the crease, maybe in 50 years when the Sabres make it into the playoffs again, you can beat Dallas in the final
Completely disagree with the Edmonton goal. Smyth in to take the game to ot after Stephan missed the net is one of the most iconic goals in all of sports.
Ovechkin's was amazing, but Washington's has to be when Kuznetsov scored in OT to finally beat Pittsburgh in the second round. 100% biggest goal in team history, and eventually led them to their first Stanley Cup
I hate Hull but it was a legit goal. The problem was changing the rule right before the playoffs. Dumb on the NHL for that one but technically it was a legit goal.
Never been to Dallas, hell, never been farther south than Abbotsford,BC. But, I never understood the fuss. He had control of the puck. He could have sat in the freakin crease and wouldn't have mattered.
Those Jets aren’t the modern Winnipeg Jets. The video shows the original Winnipeg Jets, who eventually relocated and became the present-day Arizona Coyotes.
Wii G I know all I’m saying is the goal happened in Winnipeg and jets fans will always remember that goal the coyotes had nothing to do with it at all.
The Buffalo Sabres goal is more memorable for Rick Jeanneret‘s commentary than the actual goal, and that’s saying something. Both the pass from LaFontaine and the sweet move by May were memorable.

Bluestues King RJ is the goat. It’s sad that he probably won’t be doing it for too much longer
jeanneret suuuuucks. he's the sole reason i can't watch sabres games, it's an assault on the ears like a rubber chicken or crying children. maxim afinogenov was one of the most exciting players i have ever seen, unfortunately he would always get the ol' frail voiced geriatric excited.
@@partypandamonium9116 If you've never heard Dan Kelly. Sad that he only lived to age 52. Son John (both Blues) sounds a lot like him.
Wrong. The most iconic blues goal is when Maroon scored in double overtime to beat the stars in game 7. The entire city knew it was our year at that point.
Imagine your franchises best goal being a “no goal” @dallas
It was a perfectly fine goal. Fine something else to whine about.
@@jordananderson8829 Oh I did not know they changed the rule
Hull’s or Stefan’s?
Fisher's 3OT winner against the Sharks should probably be the Predators
Maybe if it was the series winner, or if they won the series, it would have been
I agree
Exactly what I was thinking, and the way fiala scores it here I thought it was fisher for a second
Sissons hatty goal
You know what? Give me Forsberg's empty netter to finish the series against the Ducks in '17. It may not have been a ridiculous OT game winner--but I'd sure call it memorable.
bobby orr’s goal gives me chills everytime
Toronto hasn't even scored a goal in decades, let alone a memorable one.
as a leafs fan i LOLd at this
I used to like watching leafs games when cujo was the goalie. After that theyve just been meh. But I'm a person that if its not bolts then I'm watching the game for the goalie not the goals.
A bunch of beautiful goals in here, thanks!
That Yzerman goal is etched my mind forever. Amazing.
I watched Bure play back in 92 at a home game and man, that guy could skate.
I believe we played against Calgary and won 11-0.
Isn’t this goals? What’s 4:13 doing here?
Puck went in goal prior to his foot entering the crease, maybe in 50 years when the Sabres make it into the playoffs again, you can beat Dallas in the final
His foot was pushed into the crease.
The most memorable flyers goal is definitely Ron Hexstall’s goal.
I thought Bobby Clarke’s game 2 OT winner in the 1974 Stanley Cup final versus the Bruins in Boston.
The call by Gary Thorne and that camera angle from right behind the top corner make that yzerman goal give you chills
I remember watching that wings blues game as a child and I still hear that ping from Steve Y man what great memories
How is Donskoi's Stanley Cup OT winner not the Sharks goal?
efrainthegreat How could a team that never won the cup have a Cup winning goal?
Zack Parker The goal I'm talking about only won game 3 but the series ended up being 4-2 for the Pens
Lol totally worded wrong, a Stanley cup ot winner would mean they won the cup. You mean a pointless cup series win that meant nothing 😂😆.
Completely disagree with the Edmonton goal. Smyth in to take the game to ot after Stephan missed the net is one of the most iconic goals in all of sports.
I thought for sure Edmonton’s would be 50 in 39. But you make a very solid point as well.
If Stephan scores on that empty net. The Oilers finish below the Hawks and win the lottery. And they would have drafted Kane.
I thought Ales Hemsky scored that goal.
Marc Carvalho he did
Hemsky scored it, not Smyth, Einstein.
6:02 wtf? GET A SNOW SHOVEL!
Ovechkin's was amazing, but Washington's has to be when Kuznetsov scored in OT to finally beat Pittsburgh in the second round. 100% biggest goal in team history, and eventually led them to their first Stanley Cup
I guess there's a difference between best and meaningful.
Not a Canucks fan but seeing that Pavel Bure goal was a thing of beauty. That pass by Brown was amazing.
Off the floor on the board...
Chills everytime
Matt Calvert’s GWG against the Rangers in 2016 after taking a puck to the head is more memorable for the Jackets in my opinion
i do remember that one and i have to admit, until you guys won your first playoff game, that was impressive
How many times was Ray Whitney involved in one of these plays? The Quiet Legend.
I counted 3 times! Don't think anyone else had more than one!
Guy Lafleur s goal still the best for a canadiens fan, the old forum still vibrating 40 years later.
The Matteau one for the rangers is a classic but derek stepans in game 7 overtime vs caps was legendary
2018, still upset about that Dallas goal. #notagoodgoal
M.Owsky it was legit. #triggered
Stars still would have won the series.......sooooooooooooo!!
Nevermind the Buffalo D-Man that crashes into Hasek.
Steve Yzerman!
Those Jets aren’t the modern Winnipeg Jets. The video shows the original Winnipeg Jets, who eventually relocated and became the present-day Arizona Coyotes.
MRVMAST3R It happened in Winnipeg, Jets fans were there and it’s our most memorable goal
So you're saying the Selanne goal should have been the most memorable Coyotes goal? Because it sure as hell beats the Whitney goal.
Oh wow thanks no one knew that you truly are a hockey expert
Thanks for this great compilation! May-day! May-day! May-day!
I’m a Sharks fan.. And I love that Brian Campbell was on the ice and screened Miller with his back skate for Alfredsson’s goal.. 😏
That last one looks like a Coyotes goal
it happened in winnepeg tho.
I think the point Ian is trying to make is that that incarnation of the Jets turned into the Coyotes.
Wii G I know all I’m saying is the goal happened in Winnipeg and jets fans will always remember that goal the coyotes had nothing to do with it at all.
Cause the jets are technically still the coyotes.
And was Uwe Krupp's a Nordiques OT GW Stanley Cup goal? ;)
What about ales hemsky for the oilers against the stars?!
Woulda been if they'd won.
So two Coyotes/Jets 1.0 goals but nothing for Atlanta/Jets2.0?
That doesn’t seem fair to them
thinkingjack for some odd reason, people seem to think Winnipeg 1 is the same as Winnipeg 2 is the same as Winnipeg 3
Goal happened in Winnipeg, attended hy Winnipeg fans. Its fine.
ovechkins goal is the most beautiful sickess leet amazing goal ever been scored, PERIOD.
The Buffalo Sabres goal is more memorable for Rick Jeanneret‘s commentary than the actual goal, and that’s saying something. Both the pass from LaFontaine and the sweet move by May were memorable.
