I have Slavia and I do not regret buying it almost 2 years back. The handling along with high ground clearance and good mileage in a sedan is a rare feat to achieve. And it looks classy no matter who I ask. I am going to keep it for 10 years. Both these cars are 5-star rated, but a Skoda is basically a Volkswagen in soul, and I love it. No number of "features" going to change my view on this. Hyundai have done a good job with premium feel though.
I test drove Virtus / Slavia 1.0 TC but found Verna 1.5 NT iVT better in terms of: 1. Fit and finish 2. NVH levels 3. Premium feel 4. Engine performance and refinement 5. Cost (obviously) 6. Fuel economy 7. Service 8. Niggle free experience 9. Comfort oriented ride quality 10. Easy manoeuvres within city Tbh, only once you drive these VAG cars above 80kmpl, you’d start appreciating their real value. But then again, do we have enough road infrastructure to do so. Verna is way more comfortable to travel in as well.
If you are within city limits, then of course seldom you cross 80, but in highways we do cross it, so if you are driving within city, any car is a good car, on highways I would personally prefer a solid built 5 star rated car, so natural choice is VW Skoda

There is a separate base of fans who love Verna...German cars are known for performance...if only vw can increase their service centers thru private tie ups etc, Plus if they can reduce service cost or keep it competitive...it can easily beat Kia in this segment
They also need to reduce the price. Indians have money but if a competitor offers more features with good safety, you're bound to lose market share if your price is almost 2 lacs more + as you mentioned the service centers and it's cost is another criteria

I'll choose my virtus anyday above Verna or City. And I've driven all. I am a driving enthusiast, i can compromise on features and other things like that but not in drive quality. The steering precision in german boys is something else. The highspeed stability, containment of body roll, rigid suspension set-up, the feel of shifting gears manually, it's just all superior in germans. Also they are more reliable, better building quality, holds fit and finish quality over longer period, doesn't starts to rattle. And much safer.
Verna has better perfomance and handling both‼️it does lack steering feedback but what you feel and what the ground reality is, is different 🌟🌟 verna is lowe and wider enhancing cornering capabilities
Virtus and slavia is jus awesome... 5 stars does matter.. gaadu buy krna is not just matter of mnths, 10 saaal baad bhi vw and skoda hi profitable rahegi

My family have both unfortunately. If I want some luxurious feel short trips futuristic loook ,i drive verna. For all other reasons virtus.. Personal choice virtus all day
Dont know abou NCAP, But trust me Hyundai engines are much refined and silent and fast and smooth compare to others, pickup is way better than other cars.

I think very unbiased review. I own Verna 2023. But its not about a product but how's after sales. VW service has not a good reputation. However Hyundai is keeping with after sales really good. And then resale value of Hyundai vs Skoda has a huge difference. So don't matter what log say. When people actually have money to buy then whatever I mentioned makes sense ;)

When they drive Hyundai they discuss more about comfort, when Maruti safety. Hyundai has worst safety, ratings llozer than even Maruti. Skoda, VW have techy cars, no localisation and thus they lag behind. Local mechanic dont touch those and parts are not available

Hyundai Turbo fails after a few years but the German cars turbo works for unlimited years. Active cylinder and electric mechanical differential is edge on any other car in segment
Saw the new Verna many times, the front looks really good but doesn't matches with the rear look which is bulky. The proportions are not that great as compared to the old gens. P.S.- You may have different opinion.
14 kmpl of Verna and 17 kmpl per litre average of slavia mein farak toh hai. I have a 1.0 ltr TSI manual Slavia and received a staggering average of 27 kmpl plus from Jalandhar to Shimla and back covering almost 500 kms. 3 people on board and the boot was fully decked up, normal petrol used, travelled in 70% rains throught the trip. Aggar petrol he fukna hai toh phir skoda ne vrs launch karne ki der hai phir naa puchegga koi verna ko ya Nline verna ko bhi. VRS vs Nline ka koi match nahi hai, VRS is way ahead in terms of performance. Also, for the sake of performance safety cannot be compromised (something that Hyundai cannot boast of). If we keep aside drag and talk about potential VW/ŠKODA cannot be beaten. If one wants to drive above 120 kmph he would prefer to drive in a NCAP 5 star rater, Period. Majority of the people that have purchased Verna have bought the car keeping in mind resale but a true motoring enthusiast will not think of resale before buying a vehicle. He will buy the vehicle to enjoy it every day and not to sell it in upcoming days. As far as those people who think maintenence is a concern for VW/Škoda, then they must undesrstand that these cars are based on India 2.0 strategy localising the product while keeping global standards intact. So, the overall maintanace becomes cheaper and they are also selling a 24K 4 yr maintenance package for that peace of mind. I recenly paid INR 5400 for the first year service, clocked 11K kms on the ODO (in a year). That to me does not look like a high cost at all. By the way i have driven a Hyundai i20 for more than a decade and now I have moved to VW/ŠKODA and i am thoroughly satisfied with the vehicle. VW/ŠKODA💪 Thanks

1 comparison point doesn't make much sense since he's driving Verna automatic and I am guessing he's has Slavia manual? . The automatic will obviously mask the turbo lag. Better comparison would be to compare manual to manual or auto to auto.
Manual can give crazy mileage tho my manual 1.5 taigun on 6th gear gives insane mileage eveb at low speeds and get the shift timings right on manual you won't feel the turbo lag if you are driving a manual then you better don't be a crybaby and be willing to learn how to drive it well else get an automatic if you are not skilled or not willing to learn

I also have Hyundai. I would also say the same thing. It feels like a Chinese product. Initially very nice but after a few years it has body roll amd even engine power has gone down and i get my car serviced from authorised center only.
@seael2008 i don't know what fuel and which car it is. Best i would suggest for hyundai cars is that when you are on highway cruise between 90 - 100 max 110.. for safety and better ride. Beyond that it will never handle well.

Germans have compromised on Interior Quality, Materials, Fit-finish & big Cost Cuttings. But it offers good driving dynamics, handling.& ground clearance. Where as Hyundais have mastered the art of offering the best in class luxurious Interior feel, all Indian liked feel good feature list, good AC & excellent Quality fit-finish. Above all Hyundai offers the best Quality After-Sales Services among competition. Agreed it lacks a little in handling, braking & offers worst looking front when compared to City, Salvia, Virtus. Would not buy VW-Skoda Cars because their Service Stn loot & milk customers over & above their Free Maintenance package. Since their Sales nos are poor their Spares availability is also very poor. For big or small they have to order from Pune till than wait is their Std Answer. There Spares & Labour charges are expensive Inspite of 93% localisation.

Baaki sab baatein theek hain, main 2023 Verna IVT ko Gangotri, Mukteshwar, Jageshwar, Ranikhet leke gya. Underbody kahi bhi touch nhi hoti.

Hyundai should launch Verna Nline with 6MT. Better Handling, suspension,Better interior Feel and Exterior too with little front look change
Nline will be a thing of the past if ŠKODA plans to launch a Slavia VRS.

14 kmpl of Verna and 17 kmpl per litre average of slavia mein farak toh hai.
I have a 1.0 ltr TSI manual Slavia and received a staggering average of 27 kmpl plus from Jalandhar to Shimla and back covering almost 500 kms. 3 people on board and the boot was fully decked up, normal petrol used, travelled in 70% rains throught the trip.
Aggar petrol he fukna hai toh phir skoda ne vrs launch karne ki der hai phir naa puchegga koi verna ko ya Nline verna ko bhi. VRS vs Nline ka koi match nahi hai, VRS is way ahead in terms of performance.
Also, for the sake of performance safety cannot be compromised (something that Hyundai cannot boast of).
If we keep aside drag and talk about potential VW/ŠKODA cannot be beaten.
If one wants to drive above 120 kmph he would prefer to drive in a NCAP 5 star rater, Period.
Majority of the people that have purchased Verna have bought the car keeping in mind resale but a true motoring enthusiast will not think of resale before buying a vehicle. He will buy the vehicle to enjoy it every day and not to sell it in upcoming days.
As far as those people who think maintenence is a concern for VW/Škoda, then they must undesrstand that these cars are based on India 2.0 strategy localising the product while keeping global standards intact. So, the overall maintanace becomes cheaper and they are also selling a 24K 4 yr maintenance package for that peace of mind. I recenly paid INR 5400 for the first year service, clocked 11K kms on the ODO (in a year). That to me does not look like a high cost at all.
By the way i have driven a Hyundai i20 for more than a decade and now I have moved to VW/ŠKODA and i am thoroughly satisfied with the vehicle.

1 comparison point doesn't make much sense since he's driving Verna automatic and I am guessing he's has Slavia manual? . The automatic will obviously mask the turbo lag. Better comparison would be to compare manual to manual or auto to auto.

Manual can give crazy mileage tho my manual 1.5 taigun on 6th gear gives insane mileage eveb at low speeds and get the shift timings right on manual you won't feel the turbo lag if you are driving a manual then you better don't be a crybaby and be willing to learn how to drive it well else get an automatic if you are not skilled or not willing to learn

I also have Hyundai. I would also say the same thing. It feels like a Chinese product. Initially very nice but after a few years it has body roll amd even engine power has gone down and i get my car serviced from authorised center only.
@seael2008 i don't know what fuel and which car it is. Best i would suggest for hyundai cars is that when you are on highway cruise between 90 - 100 max 110.. for safety and better ride. Beyond that it will never handle well.

Isn’t Verna significantly lighter than Slavia? Still such pathetic mileage? So according to this RUclipsr, Slavia has better driving dynamics, stability, ground clearance, seat comfort, ride quality, suspension, acceleration, driving view, mileage, as opposed to Verna which has ADAS, larger touch screen, few physical controls, polarizing exteriors, few soft touch points. I wonder which car should one purchase…

Where as Hyundais have mastered the art of offering the best in class luxurious Interior feel, all Indian liked feel good feature list, good AC & excellent Quality fit-finish. Above all Hyundai offers the best Quality After-Sales Services among competition.
Agreed it lacks a little in handling, braking & offers worst looking front when compared to City, Salvia, Virtus.
Would not buy VW-Skoda Cars because their Service Stn loot & milk customers over & above their Free Maintenance package.
Since their Sales nos are poor their Spares availability is also very poor. For big or small they have to order from Pune till than wait is their Std Answer. There Spares & Labour charges are expensive Inspite of 93% localisation.

Guys for your own safety dont get brained alot about 5 star ratting cars because i heard many people driving reclessly which leading to accidents one of our known person got virtus 3 months back met with an accident hit on straight on bumber what we say is ncap is just number hit in 50hm/hr speed as the he claimed the whole boot just bended like a paper and he the driver has head injury with internal bleed , so guys keep in your mind no class i mean no rating car is safe above 70 and every is safe below 60 even alto is safe below 60 imean no life risk so please remove the ratingins in brain and drive slow and enjoy the drive
