Get yourself a cheap set of electronics screw drivers. They're magnetised, come with a magnetiser/de-magnetiser and have every tiny shaped torx type driver you could possibly need. Usually come with a magnetic mat to keep the screws on. For working over gravel just put a piece of cloth down to catch any dropped screws, even a jumper would do. Sorted... great job lads 😁👍

When I am doing fiddly jobs with screws and fixings I put a bit of old blanket on the ground to catch fixings etc. which fall to ground.
Also, magnetise almost any screwdriver with a small neodym? magnet on the shaft.

Oh, absolutely marvelous! Gather 'round, dear friends, for the awe-inspiring saga of a few electricians tackling the herculean task of installing a new Simpson and partners charger. Witness their valiant struggle as they blindly venture into the great unknown of a client's living room, braving such perils as fuse boards, golf box glands, and - dare I say it - loft spaces!
But the thrills don't stop there, oh no! Hold your breath as they confront the unspeakable horrors of cobwebs, deceased rodents, and those absolutely diabolical tiny screws. And as if the stakes weren't high enough already, they'll strive to achieve the ultimate in aesthetic perfection - keeping everything neat and tidy.
So, prepare to be dazzled by this once-in-a-lifetime tale of electrical derring-do. Let's raise a glass to our heroes and their truly extraordinary adventure. Pip pip!

Great stuff. The trouble with removing the switched fuse for the sub at origin and replacing it with a MCB is that you can possibly lose selectivity between one tripping in DB. It's a gamble as which one trips first and sometimes both will trip.

It looks like a consequence of replacing the upstream enclosure was that the upstream HRC fuse became an upstream 63A type B MCB instead, reducing selectivity (discrimination) with the downstream 32A type B (and newly installed downstream 32A type C) MCBs.
What consideration was made about the loss of coordination between overcurrent protective devices & impact on continuity of service in the event of a fault?

Hi Artisan - quick question about EV chargers - my employer is moving me to an EV van which I’m happy about. But we are trying to figure out the charging system for my house. They are offering a SyncEV charger as it is compatible with Mina (payment system). I have solar on my property so ideally would get a Zappi but apparently it doesn’t support Mina. Do you know any chargers that have good solar integration that support Mina?

do you actualt know how a smart meter works?
and why with a smart meter you are actualy paying for more electric than a non smart meter.
do you know why the smart meter was pushed onto the domestic customer?
have you ever taken a smart meter apart because if yu have then you would not be telling people that they save you energy and they are a good thing

      @boilersuitguy4980 Год назад

@@colingreer853 it is like this say you have a 1000 watt moter at home the electric generator company has to push 1080 watts down the cable to make your 1000 watt work the 80 watts is lost through connections and cable lenth.
second take a old incandesant light buld it has a power factor of 1 as it is a resistive load meaning the wave is in phase
now new electronics use a conductive load and the power factor is around about 0.3 this is because of the cheap componants and this is not efficiant at all the wave on this is called out of phase.
in phase is draw a line then draw a wavey line that goes up and down that line where the two crosses is in phase and that is a power factor of 1very good a resistive load your incandesant light
do the same but braw a second wavey line just infront of the first the crossing point is slightley out of phase the power factor is low bad.
big faturies that had big motors allways for years had a second meter that took this into account remember the 1000 watt moter the facturies would be billed for the extra watts that was pushed down the line .
domestic on the other hand was not there for they got that 20 watts for free as it would not register on the meter so with all the frighes freezers ect they generator companies lost money .
so all they did was call the same meter that they used for years a smart meter and put it in domectic houses.
and also you electric and gas companie can switch you on a a differant tarrif at peek time remotley.
they can also cut you off remotley as they have a big relay swith in them that is used to termanat power but it is also activated by the wirless system.
the only benifits to yu is you can see what and how much each applyence is useing that is it it does not save you any money it is a bigg mind bender they are playing.
if i was you i would tell them to replace it with the old metter it will be a none smatr bigital meter you have a time tio change your mind not sure what it is.
it is the bloody led bulds that have the worst power factor of about 0.17 i have seen.
i hope this helps sorry for my spelling never very good at spelling but taking smart meters and stuff apart it is like breather for me.

@@boilersuitguy4980 No supplier, afaik, is currently charging domestic customers for apparent power. They are only charging for real power (the same power measured by old analog meters)
Now this is not to say it will change in the future - but there are no indications it will do so.
A smart meter is required if you want to have an EV tariff and if you have an electric car you really really want to have an EV tariff (unless you like paying 4 times as much to charge your car).
